If you move to Linux using legacy software, desktop environments and window managers is a CHOICE and it's not forced on the user to switch to newer Window managers for example.. on HUB video where they tested hogwarts on windows 11 24h2, windows 10, windows 11 23h2 with patch, and windows 11 23h2 without patch-- w10 was on par with 11 23h2 with the patch, and w11 24h2 is faster than both.
      In techyescity’s video, he shows w10 at 105 and 11 “24h2”(it’s not) at 98fps.
So of the three other operating systems HUB tested hogwarts on, which one still had VBS or core isolation on? Was it w10? W11 23h2 without patch? Or w11 23h2 with patch? According to you all three still had it on, but we both know that’s not the case.
None of them obviously, because HUB wouldn’t leave the video up if it was misleading. Just switch to w11 24h2 it’s faster. Why take fps hit for no reason

  • @SB-mr2nk
    @SB-mr2nk 3 месяца назад +11

What do you mean 24h2 is patched? The patch is for 23h2, there’s no patch for 24h2.
What build is that windows 11? Windows 11 24h2, actual 24h2 26100 is faster than the 23h2 + “back ported branch prediction” KB5041587
It helps some, puts it closer or on par with w10, but windows 11 24h2 is faster than both. By a lot, especially in UE games
Without the exact build number of the windows 11 tests this video doesn't tell us much.
Just from your hogwarts results I suspect you didn’t use 24h2 you actually used 23h2 with KB5041587 22631.4112, correct?
You’re the second tech youtube channel I’ve seen try to say windows 10 is better or on par with windows 11 because you didn’t test 24h2 26100, but only 23h2 with KB5041587. This is also something I’m wondering about, as I’m using a Ryzen 7 5700G on my system with Windows 11 24H2, even the Ghost Spectre version. I’m experiencing some slowdowns on my PC, which never happened before with my old hardware (Ryzen 7 2700 and Windows 10). However, past updates on 24H2 have improved performance. I occasionally encounter stuttering in games, and sometimes Edge becomes unresponsive for a few seconds. When I open Task Manager, the status doesn’t show as hanging, but the metrics freeze for a few seconds before returning to normal.
The early release of 24H2 had much worse performance, which led me to do a clean install because I thought that was the issue. I guess it’s just Windows being Windows.
I’ve already updated the BIOS and chipset drivers, but the issue persists. Fingers crossed, I hope future Windows 11 updates will fix it.

Yes please test Windows 10 IoT enterprise ltsc 2021! It's the best option for people who want to stay on windows 10 and continue to get security updates.
For those who don't know W10 iot enterprise ltsc will get support all the way until 2032. It also supports permanent HWID activation.
Additionally, there's also a W11 iot enterprise ltsc which also has long support. Moreover, it's a stripped down version of W11 without all the bloat. The only thing I'm not sure about is if this version of Windows gets the performance updates for ryzen cpus.

@@ChrisL-d4c It's definitely possible but i highly doubt they would that quickly. Programs and games only recently started dropping support for windows 7. Personally i wouldn't worry about it until it because an issue.

Intel cpus like the AMD 5000 series, ie 10th and 11th generation are just destroyed performance wise by all the security updates in windows 11. An overclocked 5.2GHz 10900kf with tuned RAM @ higher than 4000MT/s will easy match a 5800x3d with the sercuity patches turned off. Plus completely destory a 5800x3d in most productivity benchmarks as a 10900kf is a 10 core cpu. Intel cpus at the time of the amd 5000 series are hit hard performance wise in windows 11.

Windows 11 can run as well as win 10, you just have to cut some stuff out of it, which is a pain, especially when it all gets shoved back in every update.
My testing between 23h2 and Garuda Linux showed Garuda outperforming windows in the few games I played, but not by a landslide. And I only play a few games, so I can't say it's for everyone, I just don't have that data.
Windows 11 has become better than it was, and I'd definitely do research on the games you play and if others have found them easy to play on Linux before jumping in. There are lots of guides to debloating windows 11 and clawing back some of that sweet sweet CPU performance.

It seems to me that, as hardware becomes more and more powerful, Microsoft no longer prioritizes optimizations. They're focused on making the UI prettier, but they forget that most users don't really care how shiny a button is. An operating system should not get in the way of one's work. That’s why hardware vendors have started to take an interest in Linux as a viable desktop OS alternative. Linux gives them the freedom to fine-tune the kernel, whereas on the Windows side, the kernel is closed-source, and you're limited by the Windows API.
Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way a Linux evangelist-it still has its issues-but the openness aspect makes it a strong contender against Windows. I use Windows, Linux, and macOS, and I'm an ambassador of none, but out of the three, Windows has proven to disappoint more over the years.

    Couple of things:
    1. Can you start testing AGESA revision too? AGESAs do make a difference, but it's been hard to tell a difference if we regress or progress with each iteration
    2. When you move over to Ryzen 9950X if you choose to undervolt, my advice undervolt to 1.2volts, and start at 5.35 Ghz on CCD0, and 5.3 Ghz on CCD1, that was pretty stable clock for me, and it really evened out my frame to frame latency and actually beats 7950x3D in 1% and 0.1% lows. You can see my benchmarks on my channel to examine apples to apples comparison. I hope new AGESA has resolved the jitter in games, because it is not reflective on actual MSI Afterburner graph, it doesn't dip in 1% or 0.1%, and it doesn't stutter on the frame to frame, but it does jitter as CCD is still having some weird communication issue. Also, memory controller is very stable on 9950X

He tested the wrong build bro. That’s not 24h2 lol. Hogwarts is WAAAAY faster on 24h2 than both 23h2 and w10. Do not go back. I’m so frustrated with this tech RUclips channels not providing f enough detail. He doesn’t even mention the build number.

@@DesocupadoXtremounreal engine games seem to be a lot better on 24h2 26100. I really only play valorant and I got a nice FPS bump(~14%) on 7800x3d going from reviOS w11 23h2 to 24h2 insider preview. Installed it as soon as I saw that HUB testing, no issues here so far crossing fingers.
23h2 with patch puts w11 2% faster than w10, it’s just on par. But 24h2 faster than both so I really don’t think w11 is worth unless you go to 24h2.

Is there a possibility that we’ll get a comparison between Windows 10 IoT LTSC vs Windows 11 IoT LTSC (24H2)?

I dont think the differences in most cases is high enough to warrent switching back to windows 10 on a clean install if you are already on 11. Its still some bullshit and not ideal, but its not really crippling performance, except the age of mythology would piss me off a bit.

Did you notice that your GPU and sometimes CPU temps were lower on Windows 11? I wonder if that had anything to do with this, or was is just cooler when you tested Win11?

it's a simple case of developrs not making W11 specific optimisations, because of slow adoption due to false information. Properly coded software runs faster on 11 even with the lower power draw. 11 is just more efficient with power management.

I recently switched from win 11 23h2 to win 10 22h2 and what can I say: already on installation win 10 is much better, my games behave very well, pleasantly surprised even during bench tests, I had higher scores on win 10 (tweak). I've just seen that win 11 24h2 is out, I'm going to test and give feedback.
