Hi, I have no idea how anyone non-Finnish ever even finds this very old classic song, but since some people have asked for a translation and I had nothing better to do, here is a rough one (Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi are towns in northern Finland, Hulta is a woman’s name which rhymes with “kulta”, the Finnish word for “gold”, and “ruma relluma rilluma rei” means absolutely nothing): At the fair of Rovaniemi I had mined some gold in Lappland, and took it to the fair of Rovaniemi, I have so much gold, it’s common like dirt in the south… ruma relluma rilluma rei, I have gold, others don’t! So many people hanging around, everyone was looking for company, ruma relluma rillumarei, this boy, however, was not! Many people offered me strong, sweet drinks, but I stayed out of trouble, I stayed away from baits, ruma relluma rilluma rei, I went my own way, the path of life has many turns and curves, and one must be at the fair to learn them all, ruma relluma rilluma rei, no shortcuts possible in the twists of life For a while I was enticed by Hulta, from Kemijärvi, Hulta, if anyone, knows a guy who has gold, ruma rellumarilluma rei, tuulia tuulia tei A guy’s heart might blaze for a while with love, but in the end, Hulta was just Hulta, ruma relluma rei, my gold wasn’t for Hulta Everybody was offering me drinks as if we were brothers so many stories, so much beer ruma relluma rilluma rei, they shouted “cheers!” and “hey!” But when the bill came, everyone’s face turned serious, “He who orders, must pay”, told us the bartender, ruma relluma rilluma rei, no use in complaining at all At Rovaniemi fair, there is all sorts of things, when you have gold like me, you will be invited to card games, ruma rilluma rilluma rei, and I had luck, I had five of a kind, Some guy was bragging with his mere four of a kind, but weaklings had to lose, only I could win, ruma relluma rilluma rei, some people have luck, others don’t Hulta was crying, and so were the other gamblers, but I was walking towards the bank, ruma relluma rilluma rei, I was one of the few who knew that way... and all the gold I mined and all the gold I won at the fair, was to be kept for me in the bank of Rovaniemi, ruma relluma rilluma rei, and that bank took all my gold
Isäni opetteli ajamaan videossa näkyvällä vuoden 1940 Sisu-linja-autolla. Auton takaosassa näkyy 'kovien jätkien' tupakkaosasto. The 1940 vintage Sisu bus in the video is the very one my dad learned to drive with in the 1950s when he was just under 10 years old :D The back part of the bus was the smokers' section where the tough guys sat :D
Song is 'Fair in Rovaniemi'. (Finland). It tells about gold miners who come to sell gold to Rovaniemi during the fair. They are also having fun and spending money.
This is music for humor really life is little near this. OK , one man was going in city Rovaniemi and had a little money of gold and then bank take all money. But really life was without this music.
