That big battle where Dewalt lost his army at the 6 oclock base was nuts, and something Arty didn't mention but after that fight Jaedong's first move was to make 17 DRONES! Going from 60 workers to almost 80 and from there it's like wow. Zerg with like 10 hatcheries, almost 80 drones, you can just A+move multiple control groups over and over at that point and basically its GG, protoss just can't macro enough units long-term
Seems like DeWalt was in a good spot until that throw. DeWalt on 4 base and JD just mining his 5th.
This just shows you can't fight a top zerg without reavers mixed in. There was zero chance he was going to successfully push through at 6 oclock even when all his storms were perfect. There wasn't even any plagues or dark swarms here, shows just how strong lurker/hydra really is.
Lurker/Hydra but also HIGH GROUND. How many dozens of dragoon shots missed over that fight because of high ground. @@Ziegfried82
He should have tried to storm up-hill first instead of going face-first in there and commit blindly. Storm so he can move up with his own units and claim high-ground. Dunno what he expected. He fought for 30 seconds up-hill@@Ziegfried82
@@Ziegfried82Pure hydra lurker can’t win vs P deathball. You need swarm still. So many games P wins without reaver against Zerg. Here Zerg wins because Jaedong has more units and high ground, P’s main DPS is dragoon and run into high ground fight is just dumb move. In an even condition, Zerg will lose more resources than P in a battle like this without swarm. P likes holding stationary hug and fight, Zerg likes swarm and create chaos with lings everywhere close combat.
1:48 not only english speakers. im chilean and most of the english i learned was seeing yours broadcasts. Saludos desde Chile!.
Yo soy de PR 🇵🇷 desde Texas y llevo años viendo esto jaja
Artosis keeps saying "out-macroing" but it wasn't just macro what made Jaedong be ahead here. I mean sure, his macro obviously was good. But the reason he went ahead is because he had really good scouting and unit positioning.
He had overlords coating the map constantly alerting him about Dewalt's unit spread and movement, and he planned the two flanks that won him the game like 2 minutes in advance before the actual thing happened. He also baited Dewalt to attack him on that front, by only keeping a few units in the front, and hiding the rest in the back. If Dewalt knew his entire Army was there, he'd just turn around and secure more bases.
tl;dr Jaedong is not just a macro player. he plays really good mindgames and has really good scouting and reads on his opponent's mentality. This is what makes his unit feels stronger than they normally are. He makes traps and forces his opponents into uncomfortable situations which was not what they planned for.
Dewalt panicked near the end knowing that the longer the game went on the weaker protoss gets in PvZ. He knew he had to do a big attack..but without any reavers there was zero chance of pushing into entrenched hydra/lurker like that. If he had chosen not to attack he was done for either way.
@@Ziegfried82 not entirely true, yes PvZ lategame gets harder for P, but suiciding your army is not the correct decision to make. He should have expanded himself and started working on reaver tech and prevent Z from grabbing more expansions while trying to harass with storm/reaver/dt drops.
It's just a way of emphasizing the absolute horde of units that jaedong brought in the flank and reinforcement, it's not as if artosis is saying "yeah jaedong did nothing but out-macro him". And you know that, and Arty knows that. Maybe he could've highlighted certain moves more, sure, but come on.
What a fantastic game, top notch!
StarCraft Brood War is really never going anywhere! So damn well balanced! It's just the best strategy game of all time!
Alpha Centari was really good too but plays slow turn based
The nukes were the best of any game ever though
Watching these types of games are interesting, because even when on paper it looks like Jaedong is behind, at no point does it feel like he's in any real trouble. It really highlights the difference in skill level.
japs win the race war yet again
Sadge
Artosis I have been watching your cast since the begining of time. You have vast knowledge of the game, and the historic facts. Please keep this going. SC1 is like a chess game that'll never gets old.
Man, PvZ is such a fun matchup to spectate.
JD sniping for that observer is the PRO move! Crippled Dewalt immediately. He even baited Dewalt to engage first. Can’t compare the skills level!
Well it was pretty even game till the end
@@ObeliskMeven? lol dewalt sat in his base defensive. Every time he went out to attack he got decimated.
we must have watched different games. he lost only two battles near the end@@myluvgobangbang
76 workers? Now that is some serious Zerg macro
Thanks for being the most professional caster on earth. Glad to see you turned your passion into a job dude. 👊🏻
Thanks arty! Ur channel and casting has been amazing always, but lately has gotten even better! ❤
Love to see more of those ASL player vs rising star games!
That was masterful artwork, watching that the waves of Zerg just sweep in from every side and just collapse on those retreating Protoss armies
“This game is never going anywhere”
You’re wrong, Arty, brood war is only getting better and better with age!
Again great game guys dewalt's really showing he can handle his own business and is getting much better
18:16 another variant of the eraser
Nom nom nom
That flank and then an intercept of fleeing units was just beautiful :)
18:15 He just makes zerg look so easy. These multi-pronged attacks is why JD is called The Tyrant.
First time artosis introduced dewalt without mentioning mihu
I don’t know why but brood war is so fun to watch. I get giddy every time arty uploads a replay
So thankfull for these casts Arty❤.
That game felt cinematic.
If zerg was controlled by Jaedong instead of Kerrigan.
There would have never been a Starcraft 2 because zerg would’ve won
This is what world champion class zerg macro looks like, holy shit
17:42 Sometimes i swear that Jeadong is not moving his units on purpose to fake his opponent. Like he's trying to look weaker, then the moment the opponent oversteps, he just swarms and crushes.
between u casting and u playing, its a big difference :D Thanks for casting us this interesting matches
Right after the first big attack by DeWalt, Jaedong instantly makes 17 drones at 16:30 .
Recall Jaedong also being far ahead on workers the last game they played.
Dewalt looking pretty strong.
If you would allow me an armchair general:
His micro, macro, and overall decision-making is super solid. In this game I think his weakness really down to a poor understanding of his tactical situation. That manoeuvre would have been much stronger had JD's forces been concentrated toward the left, but a lack of scouting/awareness from Dewalt caught him unaware of the size of the forces that would surround him. Perhaps he doesn't feel confident taking it to the long game, but I think he still had a shot at recovering and going for that instead of doing the same exact push the 2nd time. I think the play here could have been perching himself atop the high ground for the bottom right quadrant to deny JD easy access to that sector, which perhaps could have prompted JD to instead be the one to attack Dewalt from the low ground. Sure taking that spot could make him vulnerable to a frontal assault to his main but holding the high ground at the bottom right would always be a present threat to JD's middle position or threaten his army attacking Dewalt's main from the rear.
JD had the right idea here. He threatened to attack consistently enough by prodding on Dewalts part of the map, but never actually showed a serious intention of fully committing to a frontal attack beyond the early game. Even though he probably recognized his supply advantage he would rather gamble on relying on a drop play to supplement a frontal attack than actually commit his entire force to a single combined attack.
I don't really like this map tbh. The defensive positioning to just way too strong. Especially in a game if both players are evenly matched, secured and control the high ground on 3 bases, and have a good read of what the other is doing. Unless you attack with a much bigger force you end up overly reliant on your opponent screwing up.
i just love zerg surrounds by JD, just so satisfying to see
lol agred
Just an amazing game from Jaedong!
Arty looks different after that Chinese food 😂
The most satisfying victories to see, is when Terran can win PvT before 5 goons, and when Zerg can win PvZ before storm.
Thank you Artosis for making this videos !
best game ever
Its so good seeing Dewalt doing this well. He might not be at the level of JD, but the fact that he was up in position at any point suggests hes getting way better. Maybe someday he’ll get through ASL qualifiers!
I see DW’s opening and mid games are solid. But after that it went south super quickly
Protoss is always ahead of zerg in supply because zerg loses a drone to make a building and protoss doesn't.
250 amp is not a lot?@@StormgateShorts
@@BlahBlah-uh2yi It's not even that... It's that Protoss units all cost 2 supply and Hydras cost 1 and Zerglings cost half of a supply. So if it's same supply Zerg has more units.
@@StormgateShorts lol what??? Snow has 250 APM and Stork has just over 200. With Protoss you don't need a lot of APM. Zerg and Terran need 300 at pro level but Protoss only needs 200 at Pro level.
Broodwar forever. Been listening to artosis and tasteless casting Starcraft since 2006
Using zealots to bait hydras in to getting stormed was a very cool move.
More Dewalt vs korean pro pls!
Thank you for posting! I ❤ SC1!
Glad to see dewalt playing well. I think if he invested in some storm drops late game it would help with his attacks.
Sick game.
Artosis forever!
Thx for your work
Hell yeah been watching since you played in GSL 1 in WoL. I miss Tastosis
Damn. I’m addicted to this, please help me 😔❤️
Some of the juiciest psi storms I have ever seen. I guess Jaedong decided he didn't need to dodge.
15:39
15:49
15:57
I love how there’s a huge asterisk for non Korean players
NO SPOILERS
Wow Jaedong’s positioning was just absolutely ridiculous. He baited Dewalt like a master and then just surrounds him with endless zerg units of all kinds
He is a true Cerebrate.
"baited Dewalt like a master." A master baiter, we might say. Really was awesome to watch!
18:20 wow
Caption immediately spoils the results , why ? Love the videos but I don’t wanna know what’s gonna happen before it happens lol
77 drones! Insane!
You still haven’t got round to new ban/unban. Have you demoted Gypsy?
I believe you got the message, especially after all those notice board pin ups
very entertaining
"the dong's running out of jewnits"
Dxracer
If you've seen Jaedong's first-person POV playing ZvP, you know he's strongest when he gets to full Sauron Zerg. Better PvZ players just don't let him get to that top pinnacle battle style. Easier said than done lol
Scourge dont have the smalles vission radius - Dark Archon are literally blind
Why didn't Jaedong do a Zergling speed upgrade???
Scourge took no damage from Corsair? 7:16. Replay bug?
Top one took damage
jesus christ, so that's how you beat protoss.
1. Maintain a steady 350 apm.
2. Have a bigger death ball
3. Take half the map before they do
.................
It other words - easy! :D
are these recent?!?
Turn on the camera Artosis, cmon! You're Artosis! How many Artosis are out there? would be much better content for community
Thank you for removing the Twitch chat stuff.
It was only a thing where he's casting tournaments where he himself participates :)
The Dong is Strong
never played sc never will play sc yet i watch this
JD is just too scary. Dwali lacks something to be able to compete at that level. Or maybe it’s since he knows he’s going against the big guy… too nervous and self doubtful where you gotta being your top level of 100%.
Jedong is really looking for what he used to be.
After lost to fantasy he play a lot bw now.
Before that he was almost lol streamer..
he play more league than bw looks that match triggered jedong lol
This is not jaedong...
broodwar 4ever.
Am I the only one who thinks zealots are useless ? They’re too weak, and slow and the upgrades aren’t worth it
❤
Ahh! yes! The attack with dragoons into lurkers on high ground. Don't this just lose every single time? Kind of feels like an unforced error at this point.
Z is just too strong lmao
Jaedongs z is just too strong *
dewalt bad macro, imagine being even supply vs a zerg even though normal pvz, p should be ahead 50 when maxed
Stop casting russian
First!
zerg too strong, need a nerf, protoss is the weakest race and need a big buff to be comparable to other races!!
Like in this game. RuSSia wil lose.
Need to do some investigation about Dewalt political position. If he supports his terrorist country, no way into no tournaments for him, no replays casting, nothing. Terrorists must be stopped on all fronts.
This is delusional thinking. There's nothing to show that the US and NATO are going to get directly involved, and that's the only way Russia loses.
👌
If I had a dollar every time a Protoss lost because they attack uphill into zerg. Do they really have no better option?
You gotta get value with storms and then retreat, he ran out of storms and flanked. The first 30s of his engage were exactly what you need to do
dude it was a macro up game and dewalt was even with jd, even though in normal games with actually good protosses, protoss should have been maxed when jd had 150 circa. Dewalt is just bad. I dont get the praise he gets
@fruchtzergeis he's bad compared to JD, yeah. Who's arguing that though lmao he's at worst one of the best 2 foreigners and results consistently bear that out
This is my go to watch after work catching up on all the older stuff as well thanks Arty.
: )
