I got two of these off a local farmer several years ago now. John O'Brien was his name, he was a good old bloke but now he's dead unfortunately. sorry but i swear a bit in this one.

Do you think that now the rings are a bit looser and the compression may well be up... that you could still start it one-handed, no decompressor? You have a great collection of old engines and fascinating old things there... If you could get a stand for that camera/phone....it would help with any more vids you might care to make. Just concentrating on one area without shaking for a good few seconds...leaves both your hands free... and you don't have to fill in the bits with talking too much...just what it is, what it does, where it gets it's motion from ...how it needs/gets it's lubrication etc. ..please no music... and everyone gets so much more out of the vid. I particularly would like to see that large silver painted air cooled? diesel...Deutz? ex tank? being fettled and getting going again.... Cheers....
Thanks for the advice John . Compression is better but with gear oil in the cylinder initially , it had a fair bit. Actually i was surprised how easily this engine came to life to be honest. I recon if i did all the things you suggested then id put Steven Spielberg out of a job . Cheers mate.
Am messaging the bloke now !!! Daft of me to think twice !! Ex startomatic with the v belt grooves machined into the oversize flywheel , so a modern , one ! 😂 early fifties all complete . I'll shut me gob and go and get it !! Cheers 👍
I've got one or 2 donks lying about 😂😂 ph1 and 2 in old old dumpers still pulling their weight an sr compressor . Lt jet washer , lifts tarmac ! St1 saw bench 10hp at 2600 rpm (formula 1 technology) fu@k that for a game of cricket , hawker siddeley 10kva lister st3 genset ex telecom .they reckon they can do 120,000 hrs if they have the slippy stuff changed regularly !! My 1927 L and 53 ava1 are the oldest . Also a few tons of the old a's a1 d's and less than 10k from me back door a C.S complete with crack in jacket which put everyone off except me coz I like a challenge 😂😂 I was trying not to , but now I'm gonna give the bloke a ring !! I still look after several old air cooled twins and singles on irrigation pumps and a big six cylinder on a generator. Go and get the CS and weld her up. I dug a CS out of a dam bank which a bull dozer pushed up thirty years before and it was going in two days. Cheers mate.
