Thank you so much for including mine, I did almost all of my charts only in the beginning of the year because life got in the way, but I’m proud to see the amount of interest my chart regarding Genghis Khan’s descendants got (21:42). Congratulations to everyone else who submitted, this community has accomplished so much in this year alone. I hope to create and add more to this community and the subreddit in 2023, and I hope a lot of old fans and newcomers can do the same too. And of course, thank you Matt Baker for making all of this possible.

I’m really glad you liked my Abrahamic Religions family tree, especially since it was by far the most controversial chart I’ve ever done.
For anyone who’s interested, I’m working on a new version of this chart which will include info some of the smaller Abrahamic faiths.
That's not so controversial at all, imo. Well, I guess it’s just me, and the fact that there are all kinds of people on earth, I cannot exclude any dumbos criticising your nice creation.

Small correction at 18:03 - Ferdinand I was not the first Austrian Emperor, as he reigned from 1835 until his death. The first Austrian Emperor and last Holy Roman Emperor was his father, Francis I. Great video!
Furthermore, he was Ferdinand V. of Hungary, that's where the 5 comes from.
Small correction: Ferdinand I abdicated in December 1848. His successor was not his brother Franz Karl as next in line, but his nephew Franz Josef I. Ferdinand lived until 1875 in Prague.
I'd love to see a behind-the-scene video of how you make one of your charts. It might inspire those of us at the "thinking about it" stage.

Your tutorials are awesome. The only thing that can improve them is showing how you make these amazing videos and how you gather your information for them before you start creating. I haven't figured out how you make the cool animations and stuff. Happy New Year!

Information wise Wikipedia, Geni and Family Wiki are the best. Wikipedia as a base because the information is easiest to read and then the other two whenever the birth/death dates are unclear or when there are hyperlinks for family members missing.
@@ChazTB But with Wikipedia anyone can edit the information so it's really not that accurate. My professors in college would go onto Wikipedia and change the information just to see the BS students put into their papers.
@@ChazTB Wikipedia is good to start and find sources, but using it for anything like this or any kind of non-fiction book or research would be a no-no. People can sign up for an account and go into the system to change or add things. It's not very accurate. But I'm mainly asking about the methodology and how he gets started and organizes things.

Can I add clarification? The name Romania has no relation to the Byzantine Empire. It had existed in earlier sources to denote Wallachia (and was recorded as the native name of the peasant peoples in the 16th century), and the term Wallachia was at times used to denote almost all historic territories part of Romania.
The reason for this name is that Romanians speak a Romance language, and had mentained their Latin identity.
The kingdom of Romania claims succession from the province of Roman Dacia, and subsequently saw roman emperor Trajan and dacian king Decebalus as it's national founders (something that still holds true today).
While the territory of Romania was never part of the Byzantine Empire, Romanians are part of a group known as the Eastern Latins, descendants of the Romanized Dacians, Thracians and Illyrians. (So Romania does still claim Roman heritage, but it's previous principalities had done also).
Many western European figures, and local also, in the medieval and later periods, had even in official letters reffered to Transylvania, Wallachia, and/or Moldavia as Dacia.
Romanian medieval states also preserved and adopted Byzantine law and aspects of its institutions, unlike other nations in the region.
Some of medieval Romania's most important monarchs of differing dynasties (the states had an elective monarchy) could certainly date their ancestry back to Byzantine families, or even deemed themselves Byzantines.
As for the Hohenzollerns, I am not very knowledgeable, but as far as I can tell the House of Romania has split off from them with Michael I of Romania declaring as such.

Can you do a video on how to structure a chart. I made a Vanderbilt Family tree but it is so big and complicated that by the fourth generation lines were going all over since I didn't have space to fit everybody in a neat line. Also on how to just generally make it, which people should you include and not and such.

Maurice, Beatrice’s youngest child, didn’t have hemophilia. Only Leopold had that disease among Beatrice’s sons. Only reason why people think that Maurice had that disease is because he bled to death after he was shot on the battlefield of WWI. If he had the disease, he wouldn’t be on the battlefield in the first place.
Wonderful video. I enjoyed the tribute paid to the Queen. The Roman Empire successor chart was a great highlight. Nice to see the French monarchs on the chart. They actually had a blood relation to Byzantine monarchs via the Rurikids. My favorite chart was the Bonaparte family tree. It cleared up the confusion about Napoleon's heirs.
4:56 Inaccurate as it comes to Louise. She was Gustaf VI Adolf’s second wife and they had no surviving children. All of his descendants were from his first wife, Princess Margaret of Connaught, who died before her husband became King
It's fantastic! They are all amazing charts! (can you tell I am a big ancestry chart fan?) My kids got me 4 of the posters at the useful charts store. Got to get some large frames to hang them in the house.
I like, that Cleopatra is included in the chart at 12:15. Charles II of Spain is arguably the most famous for being unable to have children, which sparked the War of the Spanish Succession. Alfonso XII. is unfortunately very often overlooked. His ancestors are even more cursed and he lived even later.

17:10 I'm assuming you're well aware of the details, but just chose to summarize it for brevity. Hemophilia is a sex-linked (or X-linked) genetic disease, meaning that the gene which causes it is located on the X-chromosome, part of the pair of chromosomes which determine biological sex (XX for biological females, XY for males). Technically, females *can* have a disease like hemophilia, however it is far rarer because they have to get the gene for the disease on both of their X-chromosomes, whereas a male only needs to get it on their one X-chromosome. A female who has the disease gene on one of her X-chromosomes but not the other is considered a carrier, and can pass the disease on to her children (as was mentioned with Irene and Alexandra), but she will not have the disease herself since she still has the "normal" version of the gene on one of her X-chromosomes.
For a female to have a disease like hemophilia, *both* of her parents would have to pass on the disease version of the gene, which also means the woman's father would have the disease. That scenario is very unlikely to occur with hemophilia, because the disease causes the blood to not clot properly, leading to extensive bleeding (external and/or internal) with any sort of cut or bruise. This means those afflicted with the disease (particularly with the medical technology at the time) had extreme difficulty and suffered extreme pain from most physical activity, so it was rare for a hemophiliac to live long enough and be physically able to produce children.

For anyone wondering about the Ernestine lines of the House of Wettin, headship doesn’t operate on primogeniture. Usually, when a branch of the family died, the territories would usually be reorganized and divided amongst the surviving branches. This last happened in 1826 following the death of Frederick IV, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg in 1825.
Since these states no longer exist, whenever a branch of the family dies, the claims to those lands simply pass to the most senior surviving branch of the family. The most senior house is that of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (which is on deaths door, it has 2 male agnates left, who are both very elderly), followed by Saxe-Meiningen, which could possibly end soon, followed by the extinct Altenburgs, followed by Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, then Saxe-Coburg and Gotha-Kohary (the Bulgarian branch of the family), and lastly the House of Belgium (name changed from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in 1920).
Also, fun fact, the senior agnate of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha is actually the Duke of Gloucester, not Andreas, even though he is the claimant to the defunct duchy.

20:58 - They also forgot the Maori Kings and Queens. The house of Tawhiao has been around since 1858 and is on their 7th monarch, 1. Potatau Te wherowhero, 2. Tawhiao, 3. Te Rata, 4. Mahuta, 5. Koroki, 6. Dame Tearikirangikaahu, 7. King Tuheitia and crown Prince, Korotangi Paki. About half of the Maori tribes acknowledge, my people don't.

Matt! June 6th 2023 will mark the 500 year anniversary of the coronation of King Gustav I Vasa of Sweden, which as you probably know was the first king of Sweden after the dissolution of the Kalmar Union. I would love to see a chart and a video of the history of the royal house of Sweden during it's 500 year independent history. I've been working on a script of my own but I don't have the experience to make a video in the same quality as you.
So I'm not sure exactly how royal houses work but if its just the paternal house than I think charles true house is oldenburg
i made a family tree chart of Nintendo consoles from the NES to the Switch as well as Nintendo's handhelds from the Game Boy to the Switch Lite. i plan on making a chart of the viruses from the Resident Evil series from the original Progenitor to the many strains made by Umbrella and the pharmaceutical companies and bio-terrorist groups that came after Umbrella's end as well as who was infected/mutated by which virus.

Hey! I made the chart. It was more so focused on wars during the Cold War As it took up a huge part of her life and also most of those wars that you listed took place right after each other and would have to overlap and be even more confusing however I am thinking of redoing it. Any more tips could be useful

I would be interested in a chart about the siblings of Napoleon I. and their descendents. I know that Jerome had links to the USA from his first marriage and that one of his grandsons is the founder of the FBI. It would be interesting to see what the other siblings did after the reign of Napoleon I. and what happend with their descendants.

I'm not sure where you got the pronoununciation 'Bentwick' from for the surname 'Bentinck', unless you were working from someone-else's handwritten notes in joined-up writing, and were not able to see the actual charts at the time of recording the voiceover.
Also the Mountbatten chart has a small error in it that the original creator may wish to be made aware of. It refers to Louis Mountbatten as being 'Earl of Burma', which strictly speaking is not correct. The main title is the 'Earl Mountbatten' part, with the 'of Burma' not being the place he is earl of, but instead being theoretically a differenciator between multiple 'Earl Mountbatten's, though no other 'Earl Mountbatten' has ever actually existed, nor has any 'Viscount Mountbatten', which was the 1st Earl's original title before he then got the Earldom. As far as I can see there wasn't even ever a 'Lord Mountbatten' by Barony or other means, that would have required Earl Mountbatten of Burma to have the 'of Burma' differenciator in his original viscountcy (since he would, in speech, be 'Lord Mountbatten' as a 'Viscount Mountbatten'), but nonetheless the differenciator was used. It may have been simply the fact that Burma was already on the road to independence in 1946 when Louis received his Viscountcy, so although they/he may haven't to choose 'Viscount of Burma' it may not have been politically tactful to make him 'Viscount of Burma', or a year later 'Earl of Burma', which would suggest some sort of ownership of Burma by the British crown, but was deemed ok to make him 'Viscount/Earl Mountbatten' and tag on 'of Burma' as a mere differenciator.

Fantastic video, but religic family tree has some mistakes. Solomon, Isaac and Jacob are included in Christianity. If I remember well.
What will you say, about Poland Kings From Piast dynasty family chart using original Polish names?
Also, Judaism does consider Job a Prophet, but we have three lists: The 48 "Jewish" Prophets, the Seven Prophetess, and the Seven ɢentile Prophets. Job is on the last list.
