A walkthrough of the ZX Spectrum game, Target: Renegade. From the recording originally sent to www.rzxarchive.... #ZXSpectrum #RetroGaming #Walkthrough
Probably the best game on the Speccy. Smooth animation, extensive moveset, music AND sound effects at the same time, colour, but used wisely, and minimal asset clash. For a game that was supposed to be a Double Dragon port, they came up with something special. It's still derivative, but it's a better example of the genre than about 90% of other beat 'em ups. The added charm of the Speccy 's limitations makes it even more impressive.
The music so spooky really puts a dangerous feel to the game , I loved this as a kid me and my friend would play .. but no laughing or smiles it was quite a serious game and u had to be to make it to the end boss ... all time great
Mike Lamb was a brillant programmer, also responsible for the Spectrum versions of Robocop, Arkanoid and Batman: The Movie. Even his early game, Winged Warlords, was in my opinion the best Joust/Ostron game on the Spectrum. He just knew how to get things moving nicely on the screen.
Absolutely brilliant game, and I can't believe I never played this back in the day! Surprised there aren't more comments here considering how hugely popular the game is. As for that music, four words: *Haunted Ice Cream Van*
Agreed. This was such a special game as it actually surpassed the original. I do feel that the music in the C64 version is better organised, though, The eerie music used in the first stage of the Speccy game is now the Park music in the C64, and the more upbeat second stage music is Level 1 on the Commodore. It feels like it fits a little better with the theme of the Stages. The Speccy game is by far the best out of all the home versions, though.
Brillian game:) Played it in public game room with my class mate and this bloody game is the reason why I missed some classes😛 Also all my pocket money was left there. Still like the sound of the tape once game was "uploaded" to Spectrum.
thet's game i in Enterprise 128 play and almost 2 year after walktrough. And never forget Target ranaged 2 and later i playing Renegade 3.But the best the first Target renegade.
Asides the brilliant music , looking back at this game , there where also some chages in the scroolling: you could only progress after all the baddies where ko. That didn´t happen with double dragon , for instance. This game felt more "real". Don´t know if there was a +3 version but it stands as one of the best in the spectrum ´s olimpos
A masterpiece of game play and music. One of the all time greats.

I remember playing 8 hours straight of this with my pal, forgetting the time and getting grounded.
Great game. Amazing music.
Watching in 2021. I still remember the scoreboard cheat lol

Not sure which version of Double Dragon you're talking about, but the arcade game did have stop points where you had to kill enemies to progress.
The game is from 1988, I was 17 that year, chasing girls.. I tried.. lol But I missed this game, too bad, looks amazing!
It's in my top 5 ZX Spectrum games next to Alien, JetPac, Skool Daze and Bruce Lee.
I'm surprised this classic game on the Speccy wasn't done by Ocean.
Imagine was by then an Ocean lable, so it actually is an Ocean game.
@@ka5269 Oh right. Thanks for that info.
Рубился в неё!
