    In the final installment of my mods to our 1968 Play Mor, I'm replacing my gaucho style bed with a permanent wood slat bed platform. It's an easy project that simplifies the interior quite a bit. Thanks for watching!

    looks great! I did one of those mattresses in a box in my vintage trailer. Poof! and there's a bed!! I like the slates too, should help with condensation that builds up underneath.

      Yeah they're really nice! I don't think I'll ever go back to a traditional spring mattress, in an RV or at home!

      Ha ha ha! Yeah I've actually been thinking about building a bed frame for Simon, so really this was a test run. Ultimately it was about the same weight as the plywood and framing that I took out, and it should allow for a little better airflow, but definitely more involved than a sheet of plywood. Time will tell if it was worth it.

    Nice job, as usual. Just wondering if you plan to put hydraulic struts on the bed frame so it lifts up for easy access to stuff stored underneath?

    • @TrailerTrashtoTreasure
      @TrailerTrashtoTreasure  2 года назад +1

      I had thought that I would, but the problem is getting the mattress past the window. The screens and the cranks stick out a couple of inches on both sides, so I would only be able to lift it about 20° or so, and I haven't decided if it's worth the trouble.

      @@TrailerTrashtoTreasure probably not worth it if you can't raise it fully. There are other options. You'll come up with something that'll work best for you. 🙂

      Yeah, we plan to camp in it a bit and see what further changes might need to be made.

    any concerns about water pooling from the A/C unit onto the floor?

    • @TrailerTrashtoTreasure
      @TrailerTrashtoTreasure  2 года назад

      If you read the manual for virtually all new AC units they will specifically recommend against draining off the condensate as these units use it to help cool the coils more efficiently. That said, there is a place for an optional drain line, so I will probably be adding one to provide additional peace of mind.

    I know you like making stuff from wood, but you could probably have ordered a set of slats from IKEA, and cut them down to fit. Cheaper and faster.

      I looked into doing just that, and the cost of materials was about the same, but I would've had to wait for it to ship to me. I got this built in an afternoon. Of course if I wouldn't have already had the tools it would've been a different story in cost and time.
