Great video, enjoyed watching, interesting thoughts on the Trip 35. I just picked one up after a long quest to find a good, working one locally at a reasonable price. Looking forward to using it this summer.
I'm predominantly a color shooter as well however, today I was shooting B&W (HP5+) to concentrate on composition, light and shadow, minimalism. Congrats on achieving your milestone, love your positive enthusiasm, keep going!...😀
I was also concerned by this not-quite-closed back but in my case all I had to worry about was this solar lightmeter. As you've said - it will deteriorate with time so make the best out of this little guy while it still works. Mine served me for about a year before started to underexpose too often. I'd recommend setting your ISO 1-2 stops slower frequently.
I’ve had two trips, one given to me by my dad when I was little and one I got recently, last year. Both had that loose door, neither have had any light leak problems.
@@MadisonBeach The XA2 is a great little camera. The electronic shutter button can take a bit of getting used to. I think that I prefer the mechanical button on the Trip.
Thank for this video, I’ve been on the look out for one of these as I think it’ll be the perfect camera to travel with. The photos you took are absolutely stunning!
Congrats on 5k! That tire pic is stunning. I've been struggling to find a Trip for a good price online, the charity shops near me dont often sell cameras
You can replace the light seals, that should help with the wobbly back! One of the things that surprised me the most about these cameras is how sharp the lens can be in the right circumstances. Definitely not your average plastic camera. . . . Also presenting the montage of shots with the music was brilliant, nice work!
@@MadisonBeach The classic way to fix light seals is to scoop out the old ones with a cocktail stick, cotton bud, etc., and replace with a strand of black wool. Anyway, it is a really nice camera. If the pictures are a bit underexposed, then set the ASA a bit lower than the actual film speed. Colour and B&W negative films are happy with a bit of overexposure anyway.
Found your channel recently. Great content! In the past, the film back door being like your camera has been the result of the light seals needing to be replaced.
I'm always tempted by this one. Some people have amazing results with them. Looks like you fell into that category :) This track was also a bop by the way!
congrats on 5k, you DESERVE IT!!!!! Keep slaying bud. Some of those shots were sick! I love the tires. Also, I know you put it down mad gently, but that camera sounded like it was going to leave a crater on your desk hahahahahaha
Congrats on the 5K member's Madison, I have me one of these camera too. Its has a red body, as for the camera door your needs attention is should close with the beat-box effect lol. I didn't find it an intuitive camera as it takes a few shots to get in the swing of things. I like images 3.09, 3.37, 3.39 and 4.54 it would be great to get a 6month update with the Olympus Trip. Have an amazing week #Londonlovesyou
I have one and it's a really great camera. I've only ever shot color on it but this gives me some motivation to shoot b&w. Great pictures and congrats.
I got so excited to see you did a review on the trip 35! I was thinking about using mine again, it’s been collecting dust for far too long. Fun fact: the first time I shot with this camera I used ilford hp5 as well. Great video as always!
I was looking to buy this camera after having one many years ago, however current prices have inflated beyond reason imo, but as you say if you can pick one up cheaply I would recommend it.
That's how I feel about the Canonet I got. Not a daily driver, but a really nice camera. I thought the Trip 35 looked nice, but I found the Canonet cheaper faster ... and I like that it's a rangefinder. Still, I've heard great things about it. I enjoyed the BTS montage!
Hey Madison! I love my Trip 35. I also forget to adjust focus A LOT haha. I'm so glad you've discovered this little gem. My Trip also has a bit of 'cushion' or give to it's back so I think it might just be a quirk of it? Thanks for the video.
do u have any experience of switching to for example the 2.8 mode when its too dark to take a pic on Automatic? I never know if my picture will come out looking good, even though I don’t think its too dark in the moment.
Love the channel, came across it via The Old Camera Guy. I've got a Trip and it's really nice to handle but mime is far too unreliable. It's underexposes which is easy to fix by changing the ASA but the focus is misaligned. A lot of people recommend keeping it on the red 3 people icon and most things will be in focus but mine is way off. Shame because it feels really nice to use and I have some lovely images shot on the 2 people icon but it kinda limits me a bit too much
Thank you Steve! Thats such a shame, but I think they can be very unreliable pics of kit . I would never have the confidence to shoot the trip for a project
I like your photos. I think you need to change lead seals for this camera. This is very easy to do, they are only on two sides: on the right and on the left.
i do own the trip 35 and i have the same thing with the back of the camera and ive shot with it and there was no light leak. i was actually worried that there will be but no so i think its a common thing. and i love the shots btw
I bought this camera at a photo show few years ago for £5 they going for silly money...average price now £40-£70 don't pay over £100..... The lens is sharp zuiko lens are good 4 element tessar design... diamond shaped shutter and diaphragm leaves... so if you do get Bokeh at f2. 8 might look odd... there are 10 million of these out there... prob best to load with 400asa film so you can shoot at 1/200th in daylight.... Good shooting haven't used mine for a bit but think I might again.....
Bangladeshi here 🇧🇩🇧🇩 thank your for helping our community. Love your work 😍 please be consistent, you are so talented. If you come to BD again you're welcome at our house. Love and well wishes 😍😍❤️
I liked everything about this video from the review, to the video footage , to the photos you did. I think my favorites are the same as yours. Oh yeah... I also really was into the song. I noticed you have the artist listed but what is the song name? I need to see if I can download that. Would you ship your prints to the U.S. and if so, would you sign it? 😀😜😇😁🙏
Yes I do ship to the US! There is no signing option, but i'm sure we can sort it out if you send me an email to madisonbeachphotography@gmail.com The song is called Falling Apart By OTE Ft. Victoria Winderud :)

That's the camera that I always wanted to shoot but ended up with the Olympus XA2, which is even simpler and a great compact camera.
The XA2 is on my list to try!

The rubber balloon shot is ace :)
My favourite :)
Great vid Madison, my fave - love the close shot of the lady on the bicycle with the motion blur in background. 😍😍😍
Thank you Scott!
awesome photos. i especially liked the architectural detail shots. i think they go well with the b&w :) congratulations for the 5k subscribers! 🎈
thank you! Think I'm going to shoot black and white more often..
Congratulations on 5K! Well deserved.

Congrats on 5k! I like the balloon shot a lot too, but also the first two "industrial" looking ones, the clear lines are really nice.
Thanks Phil!
Cool photos Madison! I specially like that one with a wave crushing. Congrats for the new milestone by the way! :)

Hi, yes the back of the my trip also feels a bit loose and makes a clicky noise, but it's fine 👍
Good to know!
5k whoop whoop :) grats :)
Thank youuu Robin!!
Im always amazed but the exposure accuracy of the cameras meter.
Can you recommend your favorite film lab in the Brighton area? I tried Clock Tower. I’d like to see if there’s another place i should’ve gone!
I'd recommend Colour Stream in St.James street, I've used them for years :)
My Trip35 film door has a little 'give' but not as much as your one seems to have.
Good to know, thank you!

Ya i got the funny sound too when pressing the back part...no it isn't originally like that... needs repair
Nothing beats a solar-powered, point and shoot camera!
I was convinced otherwise until I tried it! Hope you're good :)
@@MadisonBeach Thanks, really hoping there is another photo walk soon! Hopw you're well :)
Thank you for the video. I found one for 7€ and I’m happy too 👍🏻
Well you could always push it, 400 to 200 or 200 to 100. Worth a try.

No, it's not normal. My Olympus Trip doesn't have it. You can fix it with pliers - you should bend the little hook insides
Thank you!
Give Ilford FP4 a whirl for less grain.
I have since this video and loved it!
I threw a counter offer after a guy with a gold version of the trip 35. I was stunned when He accepted my $25 offer.
For real? Thats so good, Congrats! 🎉🎉
Generally prefer these underexposed styles of photos
It's hard to focus with this thing, it's frustrating.
yeah, its really hit and miss and you only find out after the negatives are developed!
