I remember going to my local General Cinemas as a kid - we always preferred going to the Regal, but the General was closer. I had no idea this chain was so huge, or that it was the first chain to put a movie theater inside a mall.
worked at GCC Seaview Square in Ocean, NJ from 1986-1988. I posted some video I had of it showing the offices upstairs and projection room. fun job for a teen.
Growing up General Cinemas dominated the Dallas area. The first film I ever saw in a theater was "Godzilla vs the Smog Monster" at the Big Town General Cinema. I don't remember what was playing on the other screen.
I think we a general cinemas across from a Crown Cinema... We always went to crown, for what reason I didn't remember, but they had a lion dancing at the beginning. It was far and away better than Nicole Kidman is today. I wonder how many " buy movie theatre snacks commercials" you can dig up!😊
Oh wow! I looked that up and it seems like it’s a debated piece of lost media. Some people think they’ve just dreamed it up! I love these movie policy trailers. I have such strong connections to them!
Your views are shockingly low, but when the algorithms finally catch up, your channel's gonna explode. I'm a pop culture geek, but you keep digging up fascinating factoids that I never knew about, and this one's FULL of them (Neiman Marcus ownership, Meet the Deedles lawsuit, etc.).
To be honest I'm only 36 years old and yeah the drive-in He's getting free two movies for $10, a service and all the commentary. Very nice 😂😂😂 that was my first job in experience Big Moe's
I worked for a short time at General Cinemas Mercer Mall. I remember the free movies and the rats that roamed the theaters. 😆
I loved the Candy Band!!

Yeah, regal is a good theater. We still have one of those. I love the roller coaster intro they do.

Oh that’s awesome. I feel like it was the best job for a teen. Your friends would show up. We could see new movies.

Nice! That's not the best Godzilla, but having any Godzilla as your first film in a theater is cool!
I loved the 1970s General Cinema theme, with all the drums... catchy stuff. The mascots WERE weird, though.
Yeah, they also had some good holiday ones!

Remember? I used to work at one for a year, great job before it was shut down for an AMC multiplex.
Yeah, what a great place to work.

It’s a great first job
Could this be where the Aqua Teen guys got the idea for their movie intro? I put a picture on your FB post. Thanks!
No, that's a parody of a much older movie promo. Let's All Go to the Lobby
