I played bass drum in NC A@T'S Marching Band from 1976 to 1980. During that time period, it was very difficult to make the drum line, there were usually only 24 members that were in the drum line. But the 24 that made it, were The Best of the Best. AGGIE PRIDE
What comes through is that you can tell that the members (flag, dancers, musicians, drum majors) are totally into it and love what they are doing. Plus the athleticism is off the charts!

Norfolk's crowd has always been like that. It was worse when their pep squad was huge. The 3-way battle that took place there with these 2 and VSU was hard to enjoy, they started the wave during one of the selections, the worst
The band majors were clean af, the dance girls were elegant, the flag bearers were perfect and the band played wonderful despite been in a new turf. The booing was uncalled for and very inappropriate.

A&T’s band is the best. Recorded them when they came to UNC. The bad was better than the football game in the stands and at halftime. You guys make NC proud!! And great video guys!
Yeah I've never been to a battle of the bands or even a halftime show where the opposing crowd boos the band. Unless one band disrespects the other first.

Man yall Don't know what it takes for a marching band to preform. They practice year round, in the hot 🔥🥵 summer in the sun 🌞☀and humidity. They practice in the cold 🥶 winters in the snow ❄and ice 🧊. They even practice in the rain 🌧. It takes a lot of wind to hold those instruments up, play ▶️your lyrics, and March in sequence at the same time. Out of all of theses type of bands This North Carolina band is the best overall I think. Like Southern U has got that radio sound down pack but from a musical stand point the sound quality is like listening to the radio. Very getho sound. FAMU has a very clean sound but sometimes sounds too white bread if you know what I mean. North Carolina seems to have the full package.

Hey now....I didn't go to college for band, but I went to a high school called Jesup W Scott, we were known as the "Scott high bulldogs 100 Marching Band. We were styled after FAMU, because our band director AGUSTUS WALKER,( R.I.P.) graduated from there. Although you all were booed, you won the band brawl hands downs. You got my vote.
Crowd definitely didn’t pass the Vibe Check with the ignorant booing. These are our youth no matter what colors they wear or schools they represent. Be supportive or keep quiet.
I can't believe people have stooped to booing. Granted the band doesn't sound or look anything like I remember but funding for music education has also changed...ALOT. I remember marching in their homecoming parade as a high school student and our high school wear the same colors. Rival high school in their city also wear the same colors. We all friends until the game. We talk trash and music battle but never stoop to boos. At that time our band was a shadow of its former self but we encouraged each other. Seems like all that flies out the window these days.
I personally, for every like 2 pennies it's worth, enjoyed watching this introduction for this Marching Band more than that of their counterparts. It showed a little more nuance to me and demonstrated in their intro how they could function in time even with their heavier instruments in a manner that was more than just marching in a line. Kudos to these LOVELY Marchers!

I really enjoyed watching and listening to both drumlines. You can feel the African drum rhythms . Tells you what region the drum beats are from. My high school band in New jersey had the same drum rhythm. The drummers were from Virginia and North Carolina like my families
My cousin was a member of Purple Haze which were the drum majors for Morris Brown in the early 2000's and they had the best entrance and marching style, but FAMU they were always on point!

North Carolina university , the fantastic , excitment bands are a lot of fun, the dolls are plainly nice, the great amateur staffs are dancers.

FAMU is the only band that I have seen with more than four drum majors. When I marched against them, they had 9 and they were all horses!
