After using the quinn for 2 weeks at work I prefer it over the gearwrench because of the handle. I hope the come out with the locking flex head version of it. It won’t replace my go to matco or snap on ratchets but it’s a great back up for me. Its a great option for anyone starting out and will last them quite awhile.

If you want a locking flex get the husky ones at the depot they have a 3\8 and 1\2" I have them both and they are nice to use. I would rather see they put this out with a non locking flex. Also it seems they are either rebranding their Pittsburgh pro ratchet line to just Pittsburgh or phasing out the Pittsburgh pro line altogether? I think they should phase out the Pittsburgh lines and just make everything Pittsburgh a little better quality and market it under the quinn label. But the husky ,100 tooth locking flex are apex made dual pawl fifty tooth gear ratchets with the same gear wrench internals.

Thanks for the heads up - especially about removing it from the packaging...yikes! Hopefully HF sees this video and makes some changes to that packaging, because that will definitively be an issue if it happens often. Other than that, though - looks like a super nice ratchet for $25! Thanks for the video : )

Great job, Triple-T. I like how the selector switch on the Quinn has a lower profile than the ICON version. It seems when Harbor Freight was having the ICON ratchet designed the final step was the selector switch and HF said, “Ahh, that’s good enough”.

I see a definite need for these mid tier ratchets. I use a Gearwrench set for mobile repairs… that said most of my ratchets are Snap On and there is a HUGE difference. Go drive a ford fiesta, then a McLaren…. I get if you can’t afford it, that’s valid, but to staunchly hold on to an argument that Snap On isn’t in a league of their own when it comes to ratchets…. Well that’s just silly. Not saying you present that attitude at all, just the haters out there. Great video!

Thank you and absolutely! Every Tool has a place some who rarely use tools, someone who uses them a couple times a month and someone who uses tools constantly definitely need different quality ranges of tools. I love my snap on tools and I also enjoy my mid tier tools. All just depends on the abuse the job is going to take

@@TonyTheTechnician Spot on! I use mine for a living but mid tier stuff will suffice on certain jobs. Most of my stuff is Snap On but have assorted other brands. One you need to try is KOKEN Japan… You will be blown away. Just bought about 2k worth last year. It’s like japans version of Snap On. In some cases better!

    • @AlexJonesWasRight1776

For most of us seasoned lifetime diy gear heads we'd rather buy mid range tools and put the saving diffrence $ into our project cars or trucks It's not a matter of being a hater , a lot of us view tool truck boys as fanny van boys. So the shit talk goes both ways.

Never heard of a Quinn fanboy, and I’m not one ha ha but I love your channel. To defend Quinn, it is possible that your screw driver just snagged the spring clip, or u snagged a piece of plastic and it grabbed the clip and popped it all off. I don’t know. I’ve never bought Quinn although probably should have back in the day. I used to just go to harbor freight to buy the cheapest thing and rarely went. Now I actually buy icon and also the cheapest but am realizing that Quinn is a great option that I need to
    Use

Ya I'm not sure exactly how that thing just came apart. I'm just glad I didn't lose any of the pieces lol. And ya quinn wasn't really a brand I looked at all that often when they first released the brand. Bc I was either going for a cheap item I only needed once or a couple times in my life or I was getting the better quality stuff for a good price. Now that quinn is stepping up I think it's a great mid ground when it comes to the hf hand tools 👍

Tony, I had a ratchet with a chip in the snap ring groove of the handle that caused the same setting problem. You may want to run a pick through the groove. By the way the Sata are a little less money with the rubber grip and yes only 72 teeth but they work just fine.

    Buyer Beware!
I bought the 3/8 Quinn ratchet on 12/23 and I carefully tried to remove from the package and the same thing happened. The snap ring isn’t seated correctly because the seat in the head is too shallow. The internals popped out of the ratchet head with very minimal effort. I walked right back into HF and returned for another ratchet, only to have the same thing happen. I agree the handle and overall design is much better than Pittsburgh and even the Icon. But that doesn’t really matter when the ratchet becomes unusable after unpacking.

What do you expect for $20? All cheap s... Order the best ratchet or any other tool in the world from german manufacturer HAZET. Google them. Quality has its price but they will not disappoint you. Those heads are sealed and will never come apart. Every ratchet which can be taken apart by hand on the first place is garbage. HAZET was found in 1868. Good luck.
