My tip is to plan a family staycation! Play frisbee/ball games and have a picnic in a local park. Plan quality family time close to home. Walking or bicycling distance from your house. :) Or go for a 45 minute - 1 hour car drive and explore by foot a town you've never spent much time in before. Play tourist.
Definitely agree with packing our own eco kit! Instead of buying on the location, bringing our own also enables us to use what we already have and trust.
I'm in Japan and pretty much failing at low waste. I brought my own water bottle and coffee cup, but there's no place to refill. And EVERYTHING comes in plastic. Meals are included in the tour so it's harder to be low waste. I brought stasher bags, muslin and net produce bags, my own utensils and everything. 😭
Hi GMT I'm in Japan too trying to go zero-waste is tricky isn't it, I feel your frustration! some great tricks are to take your own bag to use at bakeries and go from tray to bag. Filling up water bottles at cafes and parks is also getting easier with the new MyMizu app which is just about to launch telling us where free refilling stations are around Japan. Every attempt is a chance to have a conversation and things are slowly getting better- good luck!
Really Japan? Oh wow. I heard about everything wrapped in plastic. But other than that I kinda assumed Japan was pretty ahead with innovation, minimalism (considering apt space), and being more sustainable in many aspects considering their cultural relation to nature.
I love the tip about combining trips! I'd also add we should think about if the benefit of the trip could be sought closer to home. (: traveling locally whenever possible is a great way to see your state/city & save those carbon emissions. great video!
I recently traveled to Orlando to go to Walt Disney World and attempted to be as sustainable as possible. I had brought my own toiletries, a reusable silicone water bottle to avoid spending money on single use bottles and even brought metal straws and silverware because I had planned to get groceries to save money on eating in the park. Unfortunately, I had never been there before and did not realize how secluded the resorts and parks were from everywhere. Needless to say nothing worked out. The water at some of the parks was awful tasting like sulfur and there were no stores nearby unless you ubered out of the area. Not to mention the traveling there was awful. The trip was a bust on being sustainable sadly but you live and you learn. It might have been helpful to know that Florida weather is also unpredictable but I didn’t and ended up rained on two days before I broke down and bought a stupid poncho because I was tired of being soaked. Im from AZ and its pretty predictable here for the most part so yeah it was all around a slightly crud experience.
That's travel! You can never plan anything. I hope you enjoyed your time and didn't sweat over this too much. All you can do is try your best and you did!💚
The Girl Gone Green oh yeah I still had a great time and Florida is beautiful even with the bipolar weather there. The airline was honestly the worst part about traveling there.
I'm from NY and I refuse to drink the water here either. Not for traveling but at my apt I have two 5 gal jugs that I refill at walmart with good water. Costs $1.45 for the jug refill.
Where did you get that tiffin container? It looks like a great size. I am looking to get a spacious one to avoid the to go/styrofoam containers. I am looking for more of a 'bring a whole meal for my teen' rather than a 'taking home some leftovers' size container.
Question: any trips for traveling with a safety razor in a carryon? During my last flight, my safety razor was immediately flagged in my carry on. It was okay once I took out the blade, but kind of unusable and defeated the purpose.
Yes, safety razors with blades cannot go in carryon bags. It's the downfall of them. You can take them without blades but it's hard to find blades when you are on vacation. I would keep a disposable one for trips
I think about this all the time, and I'm currently unaware of any big influencers that have actually cut back on their flying. I mean, I hear them doing things like buying carbon credits, but rarely if ever do I hear about them booking less flights. I'd love to be wrong about this though! Great video!
@earthwanderess and my fellow youtube friend Nour Ghallale have both quit flying. They are big inspirations. I won't be able to quit flying any time soon but I have turned down multiple paid opportunities because of travel requirements.
@@TheGirlGoneGreen And I very much enjoy your content :D Things that are appreciated by all involved really are the best and the world would probably be better of if we gravitated more towards that. I've been reminded of, thinking of and appreciating those moments a lot lately.
I wish the States had more bullet trains and trains running on clean/green energy and were across the country not just more along the east coast. And wish there was an investment from big countries to help all countries (and all over a country) to have drinkable water to reduce the need for bottled water.

Love it! So many people never explore their own city

That is a great compact travel bag. Love it!
Yes it's great! Definitely requires you to pack light
Thanks for the tips! I'm going on a short trip soon, and these are good suggestions.
Super inspiration!🤩THANK YOU🍃
These are great tips! My biggest tip is to plan ahead of time and be prepared. Have all of your zero waste essentials ready to go! 👍
Yes, ma'am! Prep is key for all things sustainability... and knowing there will be situations you didn't plan for
Thanks for the inspiration Girl gone green!
BEAUTIFUL

I live in FL, and can vouch for this

Yeah, Florida has a mind of its own when it comes to weather. Especially in the summer

I have a very similar one that I recommend and it's from Onyx Containers, I bought it in Sweden though :)
Yes, it's from Onyx, I bought mine in Hong Kong but I believe the package free shop carries it
This is your another great video! ❤ I love it again! Thank you 🙏
I love it! Thank you for this video!
Glad you enjoyed it 💚 Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for these tips!
💚💚 you're welcome. I hope they help. Save travels!

Yes, the same thing happened to me. I noticed when I brought a disposable razor, I wasn't flagged. This defeats the purpose.

Greta Thunberg stopped flying 2015

How do you travel with your safety razor? I’ve just got one and I am scared to travel with it 😬
It cannot go in your carryon bag. It's considered a weapon. You can travel with it but without the blade
where is your steel food container from?
It's from a brand called onyx. I bought it in Hong Kong but I believe the package free shop carries it.
Smart!
💚 I just want to say, thank you for always commenting. It's nice to see your friendly face in the comment section

If anyone's interested, I recently bought bamboo toothbrushes from ecobog.com. The quallity is amazing, I can't reccomend them enough!
Be careful with bringing nuts etc since you might get it taken off you if someone has an allergy.
Great tip!! I haven't thought about this before
What vamer you use?
hi, i'm not sure what you are asking
Sorry. I mean camera that film this video. I like the skin tone.
