I am so sad that Season 2 will not be made. I was so looking forward to watching this series for a long time!
Me too. I really wanted to see more!
Christina is a rare celebrity, who's so obviously intelligent and introspective and well spoken. She's brilliant.
Genna Barrington she really is. Very eloquent.
Finally an interview that isn't fake or stupid

Excellent Series
Wonderful interview, the kind that restores an interest in the process of bringing such a series to life, and I'm eager to see it. And curious to see it, as well, because their relationship, as the great biographers have described it, was a "madness of two," in which they were co-dependent and mutually destructive yet could not live apart. Her letters would flare with incandescent phrases that were magical to him, but his skill of fictive architecture could make novels while her talent for language made gardens, and a dense, overgrown novel that's hard to read. Still, they lived for each other, in spite of the strains tearing them apart. He was a terrible drunk, a drunken stuntman whose antics destroyed dozens and dozens of friendships, while she was, sad to say, carrying on like someone with BPD and then diagnosed as schizophrenic--which is what Hemingway warned Scott about when they met in Paris: that she wasn't merely putting on an act but was genuinely mentally ill--which the host and Ricci both mock him for noticing about her. My hope is that Ricci had a chance to visit with actual patients off their meds to get a sense of how real schizophrenia is, because Zelda's hallucinations, her attempt to kill them by trying to drive them off a cliff, (which landed her in the hospital), were not a mere a reaction to societal sexism, but the emergence of a debilitating illness. The hallucinogenic symptoms, which showed up as flares and incandescent points in her paintings, her prose, her novel and stories, are what, ironically, drew Fitzgerald to her, and he found this allure of hers irresistible.
Now that I've seen the series, I want to add how wonderful it is, and what a huge shame that Amazon didn't carry on with the seasons ahead. I really hope they can find another company to back this production cause it's invaluable, and really did a great job of presenting what lies between the lines of his own biographers by giving us a view of his own possible malignant narcissism, which drove her to extremes if only to escape. Really changed my view of him and of them, and congratulations to Christina Ricci for starring in and overseeing this transposition from book to film.
