Holy fuck
PJ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool, cool, cool
In which Polly Harvey - the consummate *English* girl - bravely or recklessly attempts to sing in *French* ! And somehow comes out sounding not just all right, but totally adorable.
[Edited 25 February 2020 to add]: Hmmm...maybe "adorable" is not the word for something performed by *THE CONSUMMATE WILD GIRL* . Totally brilliant, then. For P.J Harvey's a brilliant performer, and "Harley-Davidson" is a brilliant song. When Serge Gainsbourg wrote it, he was not only penning an ode to female sexuality, he was also (perhaps unintentionally) penning a female-focused rejoinder to Steppewolf's mucho-macho "Born To Be Wild" (you know, "Get yer motor runnin'/Head out on the highway...", etc.) and Arlo Guthrie's goofy "Motorcycle Song" ("I don't want no pickle,/I just wanna ride on my motor-sickle...", etc.), and all those other '60's songs sung by *men* , (and all those '60's biker B-movies made by, written about, and starring men, like Roger Coman's *THE WILD ANGELS* and Tom Laughlin's *THE BORN LOSERS* )that conflated motorcycle-riding with a very boyish, Huck Finn style of freedom.
cool - thx

She need to work on "terrible" and "mourir" but its good cover :)
Oh come on... If Jane Birkin could get away with her accent, we can forgive Polly Jane.
