and still got it wrong on the clip with the block out situation in Trentino match. Is the same like in football nowadays. 30% of the time, the officials have the chance to check the situation and still manage to take the wrong decision.

What bothers ME the most in this video is the dude actually pulling the net to make it look like the attacker touches it! If I saw that on replay the least I'd give him is a expulsion! *madface* 2:19
@@AGFlashrock we actually analized that scene with the swiss national referees, an expulsion would be the correct sanction if you see him actually do it. The problem is that the refs wont usually see it as the playaction isnt over there
Btw i think it was already a mistake by the white player, illeagal attack hit on the opponents side of the court (reaching over the net is only allowed with a block, and that wasnt a block)
@@schwebor Reaching over the net is allowed, if part of the ball still remains over the airspace of the net. It only becomes illegal when the ball is 100% completely on the other team's side.

@@johnbrizuela8134 Several time, as R1, I overruled the linesman or the R2, but i was very sure of the call (and I had the balls to do that)
in my first season of volleyball ever we went up against our school enemy (which we beat thank you very much) and the ref made terrible calls against us. we joked with someone from the school that the ref must have their daughter on the team.

Thailand vs Japan in 2016... This makes me so sad...
Its a sad game to watch to see a coach destroy the game for his team, really sad, and to think that thailand could have won in the 4th set when they were 21:19 in the lead...

The worst mistake of ALL time happened in the 2012 olimpic quarter final game between Brazil and Russia. The referee was clearly rooting for Russia. Brazil was about to easily Win the tie breaker set when the referee called out a ball that was in.

@@vickievo3060 as first ref those fast serve are hard to see from that position. So he did what is the right thing to do for him and trusted his line judge who indicated out.

VB is a fast and hard sport to referee. But, some of these calls are atrocious o_o

@@simple.stuffs HEY NOW! I get your mad, but these things happen. I get how annoying bad calls are, as a volleyball player, but again. these things happen. Sometimes, or even half of the time, it's not the refs fault. It's the Line-Judges fault sometimes. However, as the refs, it's their job to ref the games without bias, and try to get every wrong call fixed. Plus, some of these clips didn't show the after-part, where the ref fixed the call or called a replay. Second of All, you should NEVER call someone useless because of an opinion. It's just wrong. Last of all, you should also NEVER tell someone to kill themselves. You don't know what this person has going on or what their life is like. Volleyball may be an important part of people's lives, like mine, as I spend TONS of money on it every year, it's not a war, as they said. It's a game. You shouldn't tell people to kill themselves because of a game. That makes me sick.

There was as well this one error on a match point.
Back in 2011, Serbia played against Russia. 14-13 for Serbia in 5th set, referees did not notice the block touch and gave it 15-13 for Serbia.
It had to be 14-14.

The pancake at 3:30 should not have been missed, the ball trajectory made it quite obvious and the official should have at least let it play out and then spoke with the line judge and down ref after the end of the point.

It isn't the refs fault or the people on the sidelines.
Maybe if you practiced harder, played better, you would not have to be in a position where a point is win/lose.
There are always bound to be bad calls in every sport or esport you play. But you put yourself in the position that allows it to sometimes comedown to a hard or unfair decision.
It is a mindset and ability problem stop blaming other cause you can't take control and win a game.
Like basketball the reason you lost by 1 point is because your team shot 15/30 free throws :) your fault
Literally I was playing a basketball game and the girl smacked it out my hand and it went out and they said I hit it out why would I throw my own ball at the wall even the team I was versing were confused😤
what bothers me is this video puts the referees on a bad spot while this job isn't easy at all and teams have access to challenges to get the right call.
The worst I’ve got when I was playing was when the line judge was not even paying attention and the ball landed out on a serve. You could clearly see it was out and we were all calling out. She turned around from being distracted and said it was in. Like WTF!

The women's game, net violation, I hope, was called illegal back row attack by the setter. Once that is established, I believe the net violation becomes void.

For all you spectators thinking you see everything from the tv and replay or slow motion, the R1 stand has different angles and you have a SPLIT second to make a decision. Very challenging to officiate. The higher the level the faster the ball and you blink, you miss it. Since a lot are SO GOOD, you should do it and i PROMISE YOU, PROMISE, you will shut your mouths on volleyball ref split decision. Guarantee, inexperienced will freeze. Every time
0:46 got called out for way too many times in different videos, but to be honest, that was a back row violation by the Italian side.

These mistakes made by the referees are not uncommon. Even the most professional prolific of them are bound to these kinds of lapses, even if you replace them with eagle eyes, they will still commit these miscalls/bad calls.
After all, never will a player admit a net touch... However, this one play @2:20 it was unexpected. This will always go down in the history of volleyball. Shame on the player. But what bothered me a lot is how the 2nd referee did not see it, I mean clearly the attack on rolling ball did even touch the net. How did he not see the opposing player pull the net. Even if the ball tipped the net, let alone his arm. It would NOT cause too much of a turbulence. And it was just right infront of him. 🤔🤔🤔

There was a time when I pancaked and I got the ball up but the ref said it hit the ground but I swear on god I got my hand under it
One time when I hit the ball i purposefully like i meant to do this i hit it off the top of the block. Their hand literally went all the way back with the ball so it was noticeable but the ref called no touch. I was so so so mad

Problem is that this ball had terrible recognizability. Mainly giuck and rotated balls created a Newton effect. One universal ball for all color court variations - ill. Without slow motion replays - unwatchable on screens.

I had a ref who wasn't paying attention and didn't see when the other team made four touches on the ball.
I guess your team played perfectly that game, made no mistakes? No nissed serves, you lost just cause of thst 1 mistake right?
My coach in high school always said, when the third hit is coming down on your side, make the 4th hit. Never give up and let it drop. 99% of the time it won't help, but you never know when you catch a referee sleeping so it's worth it.

there is no such thing as perfect officiating. . . . but they must adjust to the skills level of the team.

Being a ref is hard and very stressful, especially when it comes to big national and international games. Try being the ref before you judge=). Ofcourse these refs are the best in the world just as the players and you have to look at a lot of things simoltaniously
As a referee, I really don't understand how certain errors can happen. How can you not see an invasion of the net when the ball is high and there is only one player near the net? Are you saying there are a lot of things to check? In these matches there are 6 referees, try to referee a 1st Division or Serie D in Italy alone
Thanks God there are Poles who thought: well we have cams, we can check it. But FIVB was for some years like: oh nope, what for... And nowadays, we cannot imagine volleyball without challenges.
