I was briefly in a band that toured in Holland with Dick back in the early 1980s, and played some other gigs with him too; and he was a top chap and a pleasure to work with and know. Good on ya Dick !
Mick Jagger should consider himself lucky, if he has friends like Dick Taylor around. That sort of a friend is more precious than all the fame collected.
And so much much more than R&B...what a catalog, and to think they had to overcome a lack of gobs of money with the financial wolves to deal with for considerable stretches. Maybe that somehow made them so special; their artistry.
All this proves is that you are never too old for music; making it or enjoying listening to it. Rock on, Dick Taylor. You're a great guitarist and we are happy for all that you do.
I actually liked the Pretty Things back ion the 60's and bought their albums, but nothing came close to the Rolling Stones, I met Ian Stewart and he let me help him set up the Stones equipment in '66 at a concert, and for helping him, the invited me back stage, into the dressing room to meet the band and allowed me on stage to watch the group standing behind Charlie Watts. They were all nice to me and shook my hand on first meeting, and when leaving the stage to get into their limos. A great moment in my life, I've had many great moments too. Seeing the Beatles live in '64 was certainly one of them. Great times, not like the mess we live with today.
Sir Michael Philip Jagger, one of the best singers/songwriters of all time and the best and most imitated frontman who has ever lived on this planet. All my respect and admiration for this living legend.

Circa 1991, Mr Taylor recorded in Chicago w/the "Pretty Things & Yardbird Blues Band" . I knew their bassist, Richard Hite, so he brought them to visit. Taylor's the most unaffected man. If I didn't already know his history, I never would've heard it from him.
If anyone reads books about the Stones , the best one is Bill Wyman's excellent " Stone Alone " , they all mention Dick Taylor with some affection . He was their first bass player , but he became a bit bored playing bass . He is an excellent guitar player , as any Pretty Things fan will know . I have never really heard Dick playing bass , other than on this doco. but Bill was perfect for the Stones . Keith Richards ' book is worth reading as well .
I agree Paul, Bill's book is so detailed in every respect - Keith's "Life" is good but some agree it's somewhat embellished in parts , still couldn't put it down until I'd devoured it, though :)

I never understood my country, America. How fantastic bands from Europe who, by the way, play arenas that dwarf the biggest stadiums in our country, are soooo small here. Never made sense. When I was fifteen in 1985, got Louder Than Bombs, by the Smiths, yet couldn't find one of "the kids who dressed in black", who knew them! I just wanted to talk about that amazing band. No dice. I believe that the Smiths when they came to Boston played the Paradise. Nice cozy 400 capacity place. That tour started in the UK. I'd like to see the venues they were playing there. Whembly Stadium maybe. The Pretty things are another of the many examples of bands who swept Europe. The Pretty things were amazing, yet my father who was a big music fan at the time doesn't even know who they are. It sucks. But, the amazing RUclips will fix all of that! Kids, you have to realize just how hard it was back then to find anything underground. Next to impossible sometimes. Try finding Madness, Absolutely Madness in 1985. I didn't get hold of them shits for a year! But, when I finally grabbed one up, it was like, Yeah!!!!!!! Woooo Hooooo! Sorry for rambling. Great documentary.
