You are such a happy, positive Guy. How? LOL. It's infectious Dude. I wish I could be more like that. I enjoy just listening to you talk cause your attitude is so upbeat. Rock On!
I've never written but, enjoy all of you reviews. A couple of quick comments on this model. Fender's Classic Player 60's Series instruments are the result of a collaboration between Fender's world-renowned Master Builders and the company's state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, offering Custom Shop features at a modest price. With decades of combined guitar-building experience, Fender's Custom Shop Master Builders were tasked with creating their own dream list of specifications for these new Classic Series instruments. What they came up with were features such as '69 pickups, a custom 2-point vintage bridge, and the 12" fingerboard radius on Greg Fessler's Classic Player '60s Strat. Lastly, the two point trem's are available from Fenders Chinese models, all the way to the upper end...….I love 'em ! Thanks for the great reviews
Still haven't seen another MIM strat with a 2 point bridge except this one. Definitely a killer guitar! I have those same custom '69 pups in my black stratocaster.
Glad to see you back. I just can't keep my hands off my 2002 MIM Classic 60's in Shell Pink. My brother sold it to me for $300. I promised to never sell it. His first wife for 20 year's out of High School bought it for him at $733 with case which he gave me also. His wife passed away sadly the cancer got to her brain😢 Anywho It's the most vintage sounding Strat I've heard. I own 6. It's perfect for my Spy Surf band Spy Darz from Marz. on RUclips. Great too see you back. I'm soo happy you Demo'ed this Awesome Strat. $300 is a great price. We lucked out.
That's probably the sharpest looking Strat I've ever seen! Love the light green plastics. Sounds great too. What a steal! That's less than some Squires!
I think what makes the guitar is the sonic blue with the mint green pick gaurd. That's a sharp guitar. Thanks for the vid I have been looking at them for a while. you really helped me out. Thanks Steve
Ace. Got me a 50’s & of course my faithful Baja Tele. But wanted a thinner neck. So waiting for my 60’s to be delivered. Great sounding beast. Can’t bloody wait now I’ve watched your vid. Great review. ✌🏼
I bought one of these , same finish, put srv Texas specials and did modern wiring with the bottom tone for the bridge and the top tone for the neck/middle. It totally woke it up. Love it!
I used to have one of these. I was disappointed because the Sonic Blue was so light it was almost white, and when I saw pictures of a Sonic Blue Strat from the 60's it seemed to almost be what Daphne Blue is now. Much darker than the Sonic Blue of today. But at GC they had some FSR 60's Strats and one was with Daphne Blue-ish finish with maybe a slight hint of green.....kind of like Eric Johnson's Turquoise Strat, and it had the 6-screw trem, but a 12" radius board, and medium-jumbo frets for $499 new!!! I snagged that baby, and now it is my baby.....I love this guitar! And now those FSR 50's or 60's are going for $799 just like Fender's regular production 50's and 60's MIM reissues.
I have a 2006 3-tone sunburst version that I bought used for $450 that I love. 2006 was also Fender's 60th Anniversary year so all the guitars were badged with a 60th Anniversary metal badge on the back of the headstock that year which is pretty cool. Mine came with about 3 larger "dingy's" on the bottom, otherwise it still looks very new. The mint green/cream pickguard looks so cool. I believe they are selling used now for the original MAP price of $800 out on the interwebs.
This strat sounds like the Strats i grew up with in the 60s, its realy got that Ritchie Blackmore snap to it I have an Eric Johnson strat, but i cant get that great 60's sound out of it.
I may be wrong, but I believe that if it is a 2006, the pu's are the actual Custom Shop 69 set. They switched later to the mexi version you described, but back then they were, I believe, actual Fender Custom Shop set.
It is a truly splendid guitar with a wonderful sound. Compliments. Can I ask you a strange question? What color is the base (buttom) of the Custom '69s pickups fitted as standard (grey buttom or black buttom)? Thanks for the reply.
I just picked up the Deluxe Players Strat new for $499 has the vintage noiseless pups and yes it has 6 point bridge. Fender just discontinued the players strat so if you can find them new they are heavily discounted. I love it plays great
The Baja Tele is the Telecaster equivalent to these Classic Player Strats. Steve, if you come across a Baja, they have quite the cult following. Great review, as always.
Steve that is a beautiful guitar (I picked up a mint used one for $600 with case in 2010) my hand wound pickups were signed as well). One of my favorite guitars to play and currently sitting in the kitchen / family room plugged into my Scarlett 2i2 and old iMac using Scuffam Amps S Gear. Early morning jams with a pot of coffee and headphones. Yeah, I'm getting old! Be well sir and thanks for not rubbing in my Cardinals loss to your Pats! D.
No shredder here but these are really nice.. Like the feel of the neck and they do have a different sound. IT's got some power without being twangy or too bright. Really like the tone.
This is the video that really made me pull the trigger on purchasing my sonic blue classic player 60s strat. Got mine for $400 on Craigslist in 2018 Ended up replacing the fender 69 pickups with the Everything Axe set as I thought the 69s were too bright.
I put a duncan in the bridge (single coil)...cant remember the model though...I then installed a tex mex in the neck...and left the 69 in the middle....good combination.
the best thing is to play both. I mean I love the sound of single coil but for what I wanted to do my lace sensor-loaded strat just wasn't enough so I had to put humbuckers in my Tele
Pixxy, I have a 60th anniversary classic players strat in desert tan colour, made in Mexico, and it too has a 2 point trem, the serial number says it's a 2013, but most likely it was a very late 2013 run making it part of the 60th anniversary, you should check it out, nice guitar :)
Hey great video, nice guitar., i have a question what size fretboard is good for making barre chords easier to play. I have somewhat small hands. Can anyone help? thanks.
It seems like pixx and rob chapman are the only guys on RUclips who aren't afraid to put a little gain on a strat everyone else is so hesitant to put a little crunch on they're strat demos
Hey man, awesome demo! I've been saving up for a Mexican strat for an year now and going to pull the trigger this month end. Is the truss rod adjustment on this guitar easy since it is in the butt side? I saw people complain about it on the forums online. Will I have to take the neck off everytime I want to adjust it? I absolutely love the way the Classic Player 60 sounds but don't want the truss rod adjustment to be a pain in the ass
Man, you 'stole' that axe! Sounds great. Mexico? I have one in HSS and red (kind of maroon-crimson), with a 'worn' (relic light, I call it) finish. And, it's awesome too! Thanks for another great vid. Rock on!
That's a Beautiful Strat, Steve! It's the perfect shade of Sonic Blue--and that Rosewood fretboard seems impeccable. :) I would only prefer a lighter shade headstock/neck (no tint). And your setup sounds Fantastic! Btw: Isn't that "Faded Sonic Blue"???
You got an amazing deal on that for 299. I briefly had one of those a few years back when they first came out and I loved it. The sonic blue is my favorite color. The pickups are from the custom shop too. I didn't know if you mentioned that. That was one of the selling points for the series.
I've played two strats with 12" radius necks and ended up buying them both. Nothing against the 7.25 and 9.5 variants but for me anything with a 12" radius is a keeper.
i pkated a MIM strat at a pawn shop its had the loudest snappiest unplugged sound ive ever heard. its crazy it sounded like an acoustic.if i wuda had 200 dollars it wuda took her home
Hey brother its Marko here , your buddy thats in the desert, a buddy and i were talking about you and your awesome guitar playing , were both players and he was asking me what program it is again you use to play and record your videos, I thought I knew but couldnt find it , anyway thanks again brother! Ill be home from the middle east in two weeks
I have a Fender Stratocaster USA made Series E321669, can anybody tell me the year of this guitar? It will be greatly appreciated, I bought about 10 years ago on a guitar show, not from a dealer but from a guy who was walking around trying to sell it.
They do make their money because Guitar Center buys used Gear for practically nothing from desperate people that don't feel like selling it on eBay, Reverb or Craigslist and having to wait around for a buyer so they are willing to take whatever they can get for from Guitar Center. I have sold some of my older guitars to Guitar Center before. I don't think I'll ever do it again but I'll definitely buy used gear because their prices on used gear are cheaper than anywhere else. Sam Ash is also cheap because my brother scored a used Jackson USA soloist SL2H in mint condition $950.00 and those sell for about $2500.00 brand new. $1200 is usually the cheapest average for used USA Jacksons.
i saw a 90s fender strat with a maple flame neck and the body is black and the pickups and knobs are like aged i guess is what you call it and the pickguard is like a white pickguard have you guys heard about these? are these bad? do you think its fake? also the neck feels like its hollow for some reason and it feels kinda sticky and the guitar is like really light
wow man ! what a great tone !! I got the same guitar but I can't get the same sound...what effects do you use ? or is it some special software settings ? tell me more if you got a few minutes ..thanks for your help ! I'm a great fan of your channel keep on rockin' !
Also 2 point tremolo: Fender deluxe MIM, Fender IOS Strat, Fender FSR Mahogany and others I don't remember the name. The 2 post looks different that the American, more like Floyd post and the tremolo doesn't work very well.
that a lot of guitar for 300 dude! damn! those things new in canada go for about 700ish.....Awesome review and vids as always! Keep on rocking in the Free World!
12 inch radius neck being used with with vintage style staggered pole pieces as used on a 60s 7.25 inch radius neck with a wound G string. Why Fender...why?
What are your thoughts on the American special Stratocasters? I’ve been thinking of getting one but I’ve heard they use the same parts as the Mexican made models is this true?
I need help, I saw a deal with this the sonic blue strat with a fender pro case, and I saw one with a 60's road worn in sunburst with a fender pro case too. Both for $789.00 , I need help someone please tell me which should I get
Dear Pixxylixxx, I play my fender american special sss through a boss gt 100 and into a marshall mg30cfx. Recently, I stopped using the marshall and started to use headphones instead. The tones and the sound are awesome and I had never heard anything like that on the marshall. Is it possible to get the sound that the headphones produce in a physical amplifier? Truly appreciate your answer, and thanks in advance.
Have had this guitar for many years now. Hands down the best guitar I've ever owned.
Same!
Me too.
Same here , my go to electric guitar .
Same! it sounds great ;-)
Same here bro ;)
You are such a happy, positive Guy. How? LOL. It's infectious Dude. I wish I could be more like that. I enjoy just listening to you talk cause your attitude is so upbeat. Rock On!
My 50's classic player strat is my favorite for 10 years now. Love the classic player series
I love mine best 280 ever spent

Love that color! It has that Joe Walsh Rocky Mountain way type sound to it.

I think what makes the guitar is the sonic blue with the mint green pick gaurd. That's a sharp guitar. Thanks for the vid I have been looking at them for a while. you really helped me out. Thanks Steve
I’m looking to get this exact guitar

Always liked those classic player guitars nice pickups and radius neck.only thing don't like poly finish but overall great bang for the buck.
I have the Fender Classic Player 50s Strat, V shaped neck, its a great guitar
JJ one EIGHTY is it good for punk and metal? Obly thing that has me on the fence on whether to buy it or not
I used to have one of these. My sonic blue has turned to almost surf green now its a 2003
My dream guitar color combo. Even moreso if it were nitro finished!
I have a 2006 3-tone sunburst version that I bought used for $450 that I love. 2006 was also Fender's 60th Anniversary year so all the guitars were badged with a 60th Anniversary metal badge on the back of the headstock that year which is pretty cool. Just got this guitar today. To be honest you sold me on it. Some bang for buck.
This strat sounds like the Strats i grew up with in the 60s, its realy got that Ritchie Blackmore snap to it
I have an Eric Johnson strat, but i cant get that great 60's sound out of it.

I'm only a 3 inch. 😥
It is a truly splendid guitar with a wonderful sound. Compliments.
Can I ask you a strange question? What color is the base (buttom) of the Custom '69s pickups fitted as standard (grey buttom or black buttom)? Thanks for the reply.
On these, they were grey.
Some of the 2006 models had Abigail Yabara pickups. Its Greg Fessler designed.
I just picked up the Deluxe Players Strat new for $499 has the vintage noiseless pups and yes it has 6 point bridge. Fender just discontinued the players strat so if you can find them new they are heavily discounted. I love it plays great

Love the looks of that guitar! Cool story too!
Great vid pixx, that 12 radius makes a difference. I have an EJ strat and it's awesome!
This is the video that really made me pull the trigger on purchasing my sonic blue classic player 60s strat. Got mine for $400 on Craigslist in 2018
Ended up replacing the fender 69 pickups with the Everything Axe set as I thought the 69s were too bright.
I put a duncan in the bridge (single coil)...cant remember the model though...I then installed a tex mex in the neck...and left the 69 in the middle....good combination.
That will be my next Strat. I love that sonic blue
That's pretty tasty. I'm not a strat guy. ask Baker. However..... I've kind of been wanting one lately. I must have a fever.
the best thing is to play both. I mean I love the sound of single coil but for what I wanted to do my lace sensor-loaded strat just wasn't enough so I had to put humbuckers in my Tele
You've got a fever? The only cure is more cow bell.

I have my eyes on the same exact axe! Rock on!

Have you tried the "grease bucket circuit"? I freaking love it! It makes any pickup into a new pickup.
Looks and sounds great. You got a great deal on a very nice guitar.
Hey great video, nice guitar., i have a question what size fretboard is good for making barre chords easier to play. I have somewhat small hands. Can anyone help? thanks.

I think the CS-69's don't have a reverse wound, reverse polarity center pickup.
Man, you 'stole' that axe! Sounds great. Mexico?
I have one in HSS and red (kind of maroon-crimson), with a 'worn' (relic light, I call it) finish. And, it's awesome too!
Thanks for another great vid. Rock on!
It's a drag living in Canada. No deals here and the notion of buying from the states with exchange and shipping makes it impossible.
The new roadhouse strats have a 2 point trem too
The new MIM deluxe series (August 2016) have 2-post trems. Nice guitar!
Plus, large headstock, noiseless pickups and the V6 modular tone system. I might have to check one out!
I prefer the small headstock but everything else sounds great..I think its a 12 radius also..
Daveyboy That is the small headstock.
Muhammed Ali I couldn't tell I like the small one myself..
Thanks Mr. Pixxy. Didn't know this guitar existed.
Got the same Guitar sonic blue strat custom shop Great video
That's a Beautiful Strat, Steve! It's the perfect shade of Sonic Blue--and that Rosewood fretboard seems impeccable. :) I would only prefer a lighter shade headstock/neck (no tint). And your setup sounds Fantastic! Btw: Isn't that "Faded Sonic Blue"???
In case someone didn't already point this out, I don't think that middle pickup is reverse-wound.
You got an amazing deal on that for 299. I briefly had one of those a few years back when they first came out and I loved it. The sonic blue is my favorite color. The pickups are from the custom shop too. I didn't know if you mentioned that. That was one of the selling points for the series.
Unbelievable deal..
Great to see you back man! Cannot wait to see more vidz!
going to buy Fender Deluxe Strat VB and yeah that guitars has 2 point tremolo made in mexico
Steve, how many guitars do you have in your collection now?
I've played two strats with 12" radius necks and ended up buying them both. Nothing against the 7.25 and 9.5 variants but for me anything with a 12" radius is a keeper.
Does it have a fatter neck than the American standard?
Can't deal with the poly finish, but other than that its beautiful and sounds killer.
You got from Reverb or ebay?
Steve let's hear that 6505 running into the 2notes please.
Is that Amiga 500 in the back? You could do a video on making music on these retro computers if you were into it.
i pkated a MIM strat at a pawn shop its had the loudest snappiest unplugged sound ive ever heard. its crazy it sounded like an acoustic.if i wuda had 200 dollars it wuda took her home
My gosh what a deal I would love to have a strap with the 12 inch radius like that
Custom 69 should not have reverse polarity on the middle pickup. They should all be the same pickup.
Came to check out the strat then noticed the Amiga 500 in the background. :O
IF that is really a 2006 then the pickups are custom shop 69s signed by abigail ybarra... great find!
Classic Player '60s Strat compared to Classic Vibe '60s Strat - what's your opinion?
Sush a nice guitar, I have one too. What software do you use to get these monster tones?
Good stuff as always Steve, how many guitars in your collection now?
I have a Fender Stratocaster USA made Series E321669, can anybody tell me the year of this guitar? It will be greatly appreciated, I bought about 10 years ago on a guitar show, not from a dealer but from a guy who was walking around trying to sell it.
Is that for sale you play so well

This is close to 970eur in europe now. I have one and happy with it.

I've also seen dealers selling these guitars calling that color "arctic blue".
nice to see you from another Ibanez aficionado, rock on
wow man ! what a great tone !! I got the same guitar but I can't get the same sound...what effects do you use ? or is it some special software settings ?
tell me more if you got a few minutes ..thanks for your help !
I'm a great fan of your channel
keep on rockin' !
Have you tried any of the new amps, Marshall Code or the new Spider V from Line 6?
Hey man im from south shore are you actually from boston or outskirts. I have the 50s version and love it. Enjoy the 87 degrees today!
Their not cheap anymore
You said it! $1,100 on Reverb - crazy high.
Why the guitar strap when your sitting ??
Tengo una igual, solo que con binding y fat 50. Es magnífica!
Also 2 point tremolo: Fender deluxe MIM, Fender IOS Strat, Fender FSR Mahogany and others I don't remember the name. The 2 post looks different that the American, more like Floyd post and the tremolo doesn't work very well.
Why do you say the tremolo does't work very well?
You always have a great sound
That's so cool!!! I got mine two weeks ago in the same color
that a lot of guitar for 300 dude! damn! those things new in canada go for about 700ish.....Awesome review and vids as always! Keep on rocking in the Free World!
with taxe. 1200$$ in 2020.
I have a sonic blue strat and I'm one of the few it seems who hated the mint green pick guard
Interesting story. I just yesterday bought a 2017 Classic Player 60s "used" at GC for $399. :)
Hey what’s your views on Mexican deluxe strat?
Sweet guitar !!
All the tone is from little dingy.
Hi please do a Fender Mexican Standard Strat HSS RW floyd Rose review or please reply my with the link if you have done that already.
No clean sound? Why? I want to hear the twang also.
Hey there, have you tried Bias FX? If so, what are your thoughs on it
don't forget to talk about the bad tuners, trem, nut and hum and you will give a good review
