I love this song. I was a senior in high school when John Lennon died. I was in Physics class when the news broke and I was so upset I just walked out of the class and went home. Went to school the next day wearing a black arm band on my uniform. Love your cover Alan. :-)
+SQDLVR Cheers Eamon, I had just gotten heavily into The Beatles in 1980 (I played the blue and red albums virtually on a loop) so I was gutted later that year :)
Thank you so much! My dad just showed me this song like a week ago and i fell in love the first time i heard it hahaha now trying to learn it and this is all i need !
Good work and I appreciate the way this is presented. Not everyone needs to know the middle finger goes on G string for the A chord although that makes the transition to A aug much smother. Thanks man, good lesson here.
Thank you Jason, much appreciated mate. You can find a song sheet for this video here: guitartutorman.com/john-lennon-just-like-starting-over/ All the best - Alan 😊
Thanks so much for doing this song, I'm not nearly good enough for this yet but I do love this song so much. I have the LP that its on :3.... Many more Beatles or solo Beatles songs please, they are the reason I wanted to learn 🎸✌🎶
I picked up the guitar to play this today for obvious reasons. I haven’t heard you speak yet but by your singing voice I’m going to wager you’re a Scouser. 😂. If so, great video, love from Bebington 😉
@@guitartutorman 😂. Sorry for mistaking a proud Welshman for a scouser. Forgive me, we sound like scousers because of the fact the Scots, Welsh and Irish blended our dialect, I’m an Evans myself. All the best for Christmas and keep spreading your gift. I had a good couple of hours on that yesterday.
What means the yellow markers? Since i know you i learn a song in 2-3 weeks befor i got like 3 weeks for the first 3 chords😂happy to see more beatles tutorials😌 Best wishes and a Happy new year from switzerland!
You sound like Ringo but definitely with a higher register. Also your slap is so loud, it sounds like a whip or snapping wood. Love your vids though especially Beatles ones.
Hi Jason - It’s called a palm mute; you have to place your hand across all the strings on a down strum a fraction of a second before the pick hits. It’s all about timing and finding the best position for your hand to make contact. It took me a few days of practice (on and off in bursts of about 10 minutes 3 or 4 times a day) but It was worth it. I hope this helps. Best of luck. Alan :)
