Good thing we only talked about comics and publishing. Otherwise I would had to have share my stories on making my coworkers snap by 9AM. I was that guy, but hey that would be a different type of show and youtube channel.

Omar, I love your channel dude, it's obvious you have a great love for what comics used to be so you know exactly what I'm talking about.
I'm going to say one thing about all this without going into a debate. MANGA has been dominating book sales since 2000. The year of Tokyopop. I'm not sure if there have been youtubers reporting this like its something new, but I do find it interesting that some of my viewers have been bringing this up more and more lately. It's a double edge sword though, manga sales are phenomenal in the book market, but in the direct market it's another story. Not that the book market is nothing to write home about, since they are the reasons companies like Dark Horse stay afloat if you look at the numbers of sales DH did in the direct market. Anyway as a guy that worked at a comic shop and was there at the beginning of the manga boom, it does aggravate me sometimes when people act like this is the beginning of the end for western comics. The grass is always greener too, I don't hardly hear anyone bring up the counter argument when talking manga sales. People in the western world can make a good living writing and drawing comics without killing themselves unlike some mangaka. Or the editorial mandate from Young Animal or Shonen Jump...no way would any creator in the west put up with that. Or the overhead for that license and how much the profit is for companies like Vertical. There is a reason companies like CMP, Iron Cat and One Comics went under. Waid daredevil is the worst run I have ever read. Just watched him turn a dark noir character into hipster tripe
You need to read more Daredevil, you are in for some downs if you thought Waid's run was the worst.
@@NearMintCondition It was the worst. I read the omnibus of frank Miller, bendis and Brubaker. All of those are infinitely better then mark waids pimp suit wearing daredevil with cringe humor like "I am not daredevil"
I think you’ll have issues with Nocenti’s and Chichester’s run too.
@@NearMintCondition only read soule in terms of newer stuff. I do hear great stuff about chip though
@@NearMintCondition did you just said more downs than ups? LMAO! DD have barely a bad run dude. He's one of the characters that gets amazing writer after writer. Run after run. Waids DD is not the best by any means. It's probably my least favorite though. His writing was cringey but the art was great start to finish.
Mark Waid.... heard of that name from Comic'sgate. Dude is a bonified SJW.
You’ve never read any work by Mark Waid? Dooood you are missing out on one of the best writers ever!
More comics less politics Mark Waid. Politics never brought anything good to anyone except for corrupt politicans.
We never once talked about politics. Just comics and publishing responsibilities.
@@NearMintCondition Good to hear will watch the video. Thank you
@@NearMintCondition politics and comics are inseparable to someone like Mark Waid.
I think there should always be room for this kind of criticism even on this channel. Creators like Waid take actions and have criticized a lot of other subjects through their work in comics and social media. There is no action without consequence so it’s more than likely they will get called out for it. Which in a respectful manner should always be possible.
@@Jack_Ss I heard the same about Billy Tucci and Shane Davis, but when I had them on the channel, much like Mark all we talked was comics. Maybe its the hosts that aren't guiding the conversation properly.
Guilty of trying to ruin small comic creators.
Keep telling yourself that. The only person guilty of ruining their career is Meyer.
@@lazuruswolf6668 Meyer? You mean someone else was victimized by Waid?
@@LooBiggerthanyoo oh please that dumbass Meyer got himself cancelled.
SINCE GRADESCHOOL DAYS, I'M ALREADY ACQUAINTED WITH MARK WAID. HE IS USUAL IN COMIC BOOKS STUFF. I'M HONEST ♥️ IN TERMS OF "ADULT STUFF". LOUIE LLUSTRISSIMO IS SINCERE.
