Watched twice, beautiful set thank you. First time i've heard the vermona too, what a sound! Your low end sounds so clean. Do you have any tips for side chaining the low end in a live set up like this?
3 года назад
Thx for the feedback ! Indeed the perfourmer is a key unit in my setup. I use it in all my jams. For side chain, i use the basic Ableton compressor rooted on the kickdrum channel. Also out from the soundcard, i use thermionic culture vulture + revox tape recorder which ehance the med and pre compress the bass with vaccum and tape.
I would love to see what preparation you did for this jam in Ableton Live.
3 года назад+3
My Ableton session is a giant organized chaos where i have all my tracks in stems (audio loops/samples, analog recordings, reaktor,...).for jams, i use only clips window, columns are for different buses (rhythm, basses, hardware, backgrounds,...) and ligns are for tracks (i can have 2-3-4 ligns for the same track sometime). I organize everything by keys and colors (C/red, F/dark green, etc..)
Again, incredible session. I listen to these while working. I'm not sure if you have a video on this but I'm wondering how you trigger your midi. The beats are really tight, so I imagine you are running patterns on your hardware and have everything slaved to the acme-4. You press Start on Ableton and this also starts all your hardware, patterns etc, and then you just tweak everything as it's running. Am I close? And synth notes are written into Ableton?
Месяц назад+1
Thx for your msg ! All the rhythm elements are coming live from the Tempest or the Analog Rhytm. Paterns are previously sequenced but played live. All the synth on the stand are going thru the mackie mixer. All the synth are midi slaves and sequenced by the Octatrack. Octatrack audio loops are going thru VC340 vocoder (sequenced by OT) + Jomox T-Resonator II. To fade in or out a synth, i use the cutoff filter mostly and when the sound is almost vanished, i shut down the sequenced midi channel on the Octatrack. On the Mackie mixer are coming external auxilliar fx like Space echo, Time line & Bigsky. Each channel/synth can get the proper amount of fx i want at anytime. Also i root 3 output channels from the Tempest to the Mackie : 1 stereo & 1 mono. I can use the send fx on those channels (usually stereo is for tempest synth and mono for rhythm elements). The Mackie stereo output is going to the soundcard Input channel. Midi Clock is from SND Acme-4. Concerning Ableton, it's also slaved and used as a big sampler. i control the mix, the send fx & mute with livid cntrl-r. I play samples (Voices, loops & my recorded synth sequences)
Ton studio franchement quelle tuerie ! De la balle comme d'hab ton son. Une pureté et une précision musicale hors norme ! Bravo mec^^! Tiens le résontor Jomox, c'est bien ça ? Tu crois qu'au cul d'un setup principalement virtuel, cela aurait un intérêt ?
3 года назад
Inspiring! Im wondering how you use the revox for recording, how do you route the recording/audio?. Considering buying one myself but the mk1, and its the slow speed one with max 7 1/2 ips. Will it still be useable or would you have skipped it? i guess you are always recording 15ips?
3 года назад
Thx for the msg ! For recording, i go out from the soundcard to thermionic culture vulture first then to the revox. Due to flutering of the tape and to avoid video/sound latency, i have to send the revox to my desktop's soundcard to record straight away in wave. I use high speed mostly, except if i want some special treatment. 😊
@ So for recording whole tracks and sets would it be bad idea to use a slow speed b77? I got a really good deal for one, but its hard to find information if its useable for this. Do you find a big differencein sound between 7 1/" and 15 ips?
3 года назад
@@arunningjourney1460 yes there are differences for sure. 15 is better sounding, more tight, glued and compress i would say. 7 1/2 is more lousy, also nice for certain circonstances
Hi, it's really deep and well arranged. May I have a question: do you eventually use sometimes the Arturia DrumBrute Impact?
3 года назад+1
Thx ! Sure i use the Drumbrute for several sound. In this jam, i've recorded filtered (jomox) Hhat + delay. You can hear the sound in the middle part of the jam. Also in this other jam, i use the Drumbrute to create groove by sending the rhythm into vocoder + jomox filter. The begining of the jam is showing the process from raw drums to texturized groove ;) ruclips.net/video/Yhj46JUVGIA/видео.html
dope! Do you use the VC340 for strings or vocoding duties?
Год назад+1
thx :) mostly vocoder but for percusive elements and loops. I love the strings tho but didn't have the opportunity to explore them properly into a track
@ Hey man! Just to check is the audio going from your Soundcard output to the culture vulture, then record to tape on the Revox? Wicked session!

@@eliphinobeats yes same audio file. Also for the studio version of the track Situation. Indeed, i always record the final mix thru culture vulture + revox, even for my studio production. Concerning Ableton, it's also slaved and used as a big sampler. i control the mix, the send fx & mute with livid cntrl-r. I play samples (Voices, loops & my recorded synth sequences)
Yeah !!
Vous ici ?! 😆
@ ça arrive XD
The TEMPEST seems to be the main component in your sets ...
i hope i find a good used one
Indeed it's my desert island gear. Really versatile
🔥
🙌
Have you been up to the Eruptions yet? Great vibes as always.16.28 very nice.
Thx 🙏 what do you mean by eruptions ?
@ I am sorry for some reason i thought you were in Iceland Opps, lol. ATB
@@atommachine haha no i'm from Paris but i did a jam with iceland landscape footage few years ago 😉
Is this still the rental Perfourmer or has yours been fixed now? Another epic session, as always.
Hehe i made this session with the perfoumer that thomann lent me. Mine is still on the way back to service for the 2nd time..
@ hopefully you won't be parted with it for too long! I'm not sure I could live without mine now.
Ton studio franchement quelle tuerie !
Inspiring!
Im wondering how you use the revox for recording, how do you route the recording/audio?.
Considering buying one myself but the mk1, and its the slow speed one with max 7 1/2 ips.
Will it still be useable or would you have skipped it? i guess you are always recording 15ips?
Thx for the msg ! For recording, i go out from the soundcard to thermionic culture vulture first then to the revox. Due to flutering of the tape and to avoid video/sound latency, i have to send the revox to my desktop's soundcard to record straight away in wave. I use high speed mostly, except if i want some special treatment. 😊
@ So for recording whole tracks and sets would it be bad idea to use a slow speed b77? I got a really good deal for one, but its hard to find information if its useable for this. Do you find a big differencein sound between 7 1/" and 15 ips?
@@arunningjourney1460 yes there are differences for sure. 15 is better sounding, more tight, glued and compress i would say. 7 1/2 is more lousy, also nice for certain circonstances
@ Then i guess ill pass and wait for a high speed one down the road. Thank you so much!
@@arunningjourney1460 indeed, 15ips is nice. 30ips would be great with a Studer A80 😍
Hi, it's really deep and well arranged. May I have a question: do you eventually use sometimes the Arturia DrumBrute Impact?
The begining of the jam is showing the process from raw drums to texturized groove ;)

dope! Do you use the VC340 for strings or vocoding duties?
thx :) mostly vocoder but for percusive elements and loops. I love the strings tho but didn't have the opportunity to explore them properly into a track
Shame youtube compression makes it slightly less pristine
You can download the middle track - Situation - properly producted on my soundcloud ;)

🍻
hey great jam! is that a compressor under your laptop? if it is, what are you running through it
it's the roland space echo re-201. Tape delay. I also use the thermionic culture vulture for warming up the sound between the soundcard and the revox.
Thanks so much for your reply 🙏 this is a beautiful machine!
I’m now looking to buy a Verona synth because of you, thank you!
This gives some warmth analog feeling, ehance the med and the tape compression contain the sub bass just enough :)
@ amazing, thanks for your reply. I have recently acquired the same Revox but have yet to use it properly.
Techno process
🙌
What is your desert island synth?
Tempest 100% 👍
@ Interesting! Some said it was a bit buggy. But it has its own character eh. I want a Quasimidi Sirius and a JD800 next. Your music is great. Classy ambient with space in it and just the right amount of dub bass and beats
@@axs203 no bug for me👌. It has really great sonic presence and you can create an infinity of sounds. Super powerfull and versatile.
hey what keyboard stands are these?
