I am a conservative evangelical Christian gentile watching this from New Zealand..via friend putting me on to this. Very moving..even though I know little about it. Hear oh Israel the lord thy God the lord is one..deut 6.4. He who watches over Israel neither slumbers or sleeps ps.121.
Even if I were an atheist, I would so very much enjoy to participate is such worship. This is so truly WORSHIP. I also note that how fitting it is that this leader, this cantor has his back to the congregation so as to lead them, as parade marshal leads the troops, in directing their worship to God. Worship is not a show for men, it is a fitting offering to God. As it would be rude to turn your back on a man as you talk to him, so it is rude to turn your back God & face to people as you talk to God.
This is because the cantor also needs to be turned toward the Holy Ark while praying. The Holy Ark contains synagogue's Torah scrolls and is placed on the wall of the prayer room which is facing Jerusalem, so that all pray facing the site where the Holy Temple once stood.

I find it unusual that only the Chazan wears a tallit in this service Is this the custom in Modern Orthodox Shuls in the UK? I love the service and melodies.
In the first Temple (King Solomon) and the second Temple (Ezra) there were separate parts for men and women - to help concentration and eliminate levity. The galleries are full of women and girls, like in Temple of G-d in Jerusalem

Beautiful modern orthodox synagogue.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are they saying Hallel at night?
yes, on Yom Ha'atzmaut it's common to recite it at Ma'ariv, as well as on the first two nights of Passover.
I find it unusual that only the Chazan wears a tallit in this service Is this the custom in Modern Orthodox Shuls in the UK? I love the service and melodies.
Richard Viders I believe so, I’m yet to see it anywhere else. Sometimes in Israel depending on shul obviously.
If it’s at night you aren’t allowed to wear a Tallis but the one leading the service can I think
@@gadberchowitz952 you can't say Hallel at night
@@thefuza150 incorrect. Hallel is said at night on the first 2 nights of Pesach as well as on Yom Ha'Atzmaut, as in this case.
@@NavDDG54 oh, I'm used to seeing it on succot 😅
Could you tell me what is the name of this wonderful song? Please
This is the Hallel, a series of Psalms Jews say on festivals and on days celebrating the new month
@@NavDDG54 Thanks
@@winsale79 you find them easily: Book of Psalms, Chapters 113 - 118
@@DavidMDanek Thanks
Amen
I can picture Jesus doing all this with his disciples when he walked the earth🙏
Praise God!!
Doubtful considering Yom Ha'atzmaut has only been practiced for 75 years
@@mnkn3746 🤷🏽♂️maybe an ancient version of it. I’m sure they did something though
@@shuffle6260Hallel on this specific occasion started 75 years ago, but he still would have said this Hallel on festivals/new months.
Why are there no females?
There are, they are in the upper rafters. Men and women are separate at orthodox synagogues
