My family and I stopped watching tv for some months years back due to not having a tv and we saw the benefits, but then resumed again when we were able to buy a tv again. But my husband's and I always experienced increasing discomfort with the content, especially as we grew further in Christ. Also because I had researched a lot on occult matters including in media, I would always pick up occult activity in the programs. We stopped again in 2020 and it was wonderful to block out the fear based news. This March we will close 3 years of no tv whatsoever and we are never going back. We buy or download everything we want to watch ..... even for the kids. And we screen it. It has to be purely educational, or if it is entertaining it must be devoid of all deception and darkness. We have also found great movie producers who produce spirit-led and filled movies and we download or buy those. We also periodically to through what we have and throw out or delete any content we had acquired before, that we now know is not good. May Holy Spirit give further revelation about this. We are in this world but not of it and we must come out of Babylonian ways and strongholds altogether. Thanks sisi. May Father continue to grow you and establish you in His ways so that the big platform He has given you will carry undiluted truth and bring people out of captivity. He came to set the captives free!

I can relate to your story for stopping watching TV, I also stopped watching certain programs and da soapies bcz they don't promote a holy lifestyle and lately I have also stopped eating certain foods and stopped using makeup and that can not make me to expect every child of God to stop using makeup. God has a unique purpose for my life and my ministry. I even wrestled with God for wanting me to change certain things coz I knew they were not sin but now it was time for a change for me for his purpose to be fulfilled.
God will convict your heart in different ways. If your spirit doesn't sit well with certain food/ drink/ looks etc, you best pray about it and The Holy Spirit will stop you, for His reason and His Glory. Until I was convicted by the Holy Spirit in church in my twenties to not go to church dressed like that. It was my journey I couldn't make that a doctrine to anyone. Believe me wearing short dress is what got me my husband and the love of my life. He saw my legs not my face. But in the Bible both men and women were wore dresses. Glad you know and are rooted in the word because nothing and no one can move you from this grace and mercy. Dress appropriate for the occasion sweetheart. You have been given your body by God and you always dress appropriately whoever said you were dressing inappropriate they have their own issues let God deliver them from thinking they are the Holy Spirit in people's lives. Including some of ausi Connie's programs, especially when she was acting Karabo, who wanted 2 husbands. Her and Shona's programs, called "Igazi," pure evil. Now it's her program called "Unmarried" it's such a taboo that program. I wonder if she can watch it with her children. My family and I stopped watching tv for some months years back due to not having a tv and we saw the benefits, but then resumed again when we were able to buy a tv again.
But my husband's and I always experienced increasing discomfort with the content, especially as we grew further in Christ.
Also because I had researched a lot on occult matters including in media, I would always pick up occult activity in the programs.
We stopped again in 2020 and it was wonderful to block out the fear based news.
This March we will close 3 years of no tv whatsoever and we are never going back.
We buy or download everything we want to watch ..... even for the kids. And we screen it. It has to be purely educational, or if it is entertaining it must be devoid of all deception and darkness.
We have also found great movie producers who produce spirit-led and filled movies and we download or buy those.
We also periodically to through what we have and throw out or delete any content we had acquired before, that we now know is not good.
May Holy Spirit give further revelation about this. We are in this world but not of it and we must come out of Babylonian ways and strongholds altogether.

I can relate to your story for stopping watching TV, I also stopped watching certain programs and da soapies bcz they don't promote a holy lifestyle and lately I have also stopped eating certain foods and stopped using makeup and that can not make me to expect every child of God to stop using makeup. God has a unique purpose for my life and my ministry. I even wrestled with God for wanting me to change certain things coz I knew they were not sin but now it was time for a change for me for his purpose to be fulfilled.

God will convict your heart in different ways. If your spirit doesn't sit well with certain food/ drink/ looks etc, you best pray about it and The Holy Spirit will stop you, for His reason and His Glory. I have grown so much in my walk with Christ, and I realized I automatically (through the Holy Spirit) dropped a whole lot of things. I'm grateful. It was my journey I couldn't make that a doctrine to anyone. Believe me wearing short dress is what got me my husband and the love of my life. He saw my legs not my face.
But in the Bible both men and women were wore dresses.

I was personally convicted by Holy Spirit to start covering my hair and drop the make-up. I went into a 21 days fast and came out of it a different person with a different style. No body told me. Portia I love your content I introduced it to my husband as well he loves it too. Regarding clothing consult God himself forget people. I didn't consult him.he just changed me during a 21 days fast. Our walk with God is unique for everyone I think.

I love the topic you touched on, in fact I think I share the same sentiments when it comes to the role of tv and it's impact in our lives especially the young ones. I didn't know about gays and lesbians until I was doing senior high school classes. My niece is ten and already knows about such.

Sis Portia I have been struggling with the dress code issue and church behaviour into an extant that I don't prefer going to church anymore but rather gather for home cells only..as you mentioned the different cultural backgrounds we all have..I am born into a very conservative zulu family and I remember growing up in the villages ladies would just go topless and it was never an issue as a man myself I never had a problem or being aroused by the sight of that cause it was normal..fast foward ngeza egoli..I started watching television and ja man everything I knew about a woman's body turned upside down..a woman's body was highly sexualized to say the least ngajoyina ke nami ibandla lama perverts..I believe this is my personal opinion not from the scriptures that..sometimes we are aware of the negative impact that entertainment industry has portrayed woman as sexual objects through the music videos and movies..I do agree with you through the holy spirit conviction as nami my self am still a recovering pervert and drug addiction..and loved the point when you say..that doesn't mean people should just come before God naked and never even consult with the holy spirit in regard to how we look..even guys oooh ja ne ndiyazibona mina..trousers just down le phansi kwezinqe and leading worship and they tell me God is okay..with that and I never argue I just say okay and bye...and also can you please share your PayPal account.

Dresscode is a contentious issue within the body for a very long time. it's so sad sis Portia how we behave but we are claiming to resemble Christ. No where in a Bible Jesus judged people of their dress code. We are loosing souls to the kingdom of God because of our judgemental nature. imagine someone really want to have fellowship in church still growing in having a relationship with God and being judged because of they appearance. We are really painting a bad picture in the world. Jesus said we must love God first and love each other. When you love you love a person as they are. We are not judging our brothers and sisters for that behaviour we pray that the holy spirit will convict, guide and direct them as the holy spirit guide us all as our Lord Jesus Christ has promised us.
