I'm so surprised and glad you got around to King Diamond. This band is perfect for both of you. Aside from being one of the greatest vocalists, King is an amazing storyteller in concept and lyrics. Plus the guitarist Andy LaRocque is one of the best alongside the fantastic musicianship of the other band members. Definitely do more reactions. I recommend the song Sleepless Nights. As for the vocals, for some people it takes getting used to and once you do you'll definitely get into them.
King Diamond. I could talk about his albums for hours. They're all concept albums, which means it's a complete story and every song is a chapter. Hes amazing.
Definitely do this one! A lot of reactors have done it but this live version is as good or better than the studio version and shows King at his best even this late in his career.
The song Abigail is from an album of the same name. It is a concept album. The lyrics are one big horror story from beginning to end. You should listen to the whole album and read the lyrics. It will make more sense if you do...
I saw Abigail live in a small club in San Pedro called the Waters Club around 1986 it was awesome, I also saw the "Them" tour in Anaheim. It's so cool that you 2 are checking out this music.
Yes, yes, fucking yes! King Diamond is one of the greatest story tellers in music. The album Them about his grandmother coming home from an insane asylum is my personal favorite.
King's voice is amazing. They sweep from gutteral lows to operatic highs. Each voice is a different character. HE is the Stephen King of Heavy Metal. Andy LaRoque is on guitar. This is from the album Abigail and tells the story of an unborn child that was actually an evil entity that possess a pregnant woman. It takes place in 1777
Lex was jammin.... this album is a great, dark story. Need to listen to Merciful Fate too, King was also in this band. Listen to Come to the Sabbath from them. 🤘
Finally, KING DIAMOND!!!!!!! Check out his original band MERCYFUL FATE if you want to hear where so many bands got their sound from. Black Funeral is a must to react to.
This is why I recommend King Diamond Sleepless Nights Live so you could fully experience the King. (Even if not a reaction you should check it out, he is an amazing performer)
This is part of a concept album called Abigail,, as I'm sure other comments must have mentioned by now... Not going to go digging through them to find out that. Anyway, it is a brilliant record, from start to finish. If you're ever looking to do a full album reaction it is a brilliant Horror Story and a really good time
This whole album is pretty epic, tells a story. King Diamond's vocals kind of grow on you after a while. Abigail is a witch who was executed on July 7th 1777.... according to the story in the album.
I literally searched your videos just now to see if you ever did a King Diamond video before and imagine my amazement when I see you posted this today! What a crazy coincidence!!!! Need to do "At the Graves" next. It's truly one of his best tunes.
I have not heard this song for a while. I can remember being a teenager listening to this album when it was new (somehow i do remember). I loved Mercyful Fate and King Diamond then. But i think i love them more now. Brings back alot of good times. And the music has aged well. Still sounds great. It dont sound like other 80's music, and i do like alot of 80's music, the 80's were my teenage years. King Diamond was considered very extreme in the 80's.
Lex is such a Metal Queen 🤘🏽👸🏾 You'll need to go see some of these bands live now. Iron Maiden is a definite buck list band when they tour 2022, but see as many different bands as you can when they play yer local area. You will be blown away by the ice experience 🤘🏻🖤🇬🇧
Love that you enjoyed this. King Diamond is one of my favorite bands/vocalists. My username is derived from this album (in conjunction with an online RPG, Ultima Online) and my pfp is a representation of King Diamond's stage outfit and makeup from back in the day lol. So you can understand the vocal qualities a bit more.. King Diamond uses different vocal styles and switches from high falsetto to low growling tones to indicate either different characters within the story being told or to emphasize specific phrases within a sentence for impact within the story. Each album is like a scary story being told.. each song continuing the story from where the last song ended. To get the full impact you have to listen to the songs back-to-back and in the order they were released on the album... and in a few cases across multiple albums. Not everyone gets into his vocals but that is just the way the world works lol. I would suggest the next King Diamond song be "Sleepless Nights' from the album 'Conspiracy"
King Diamond is basically the heavy metal horror version of Prince. He writes all the lyrics, & all the guitar & keyboard parts. You just never see him playing because he focuses on being the frontman. Andy LaRoque & current guitarist Mike Wead play live & they record what King writes. His guitar is a REALLY cool black BC Rich Warlock with the word THEM on it in blood splatter style. King is a very good guitarist
So glad you chose this! They are top notch musicians and his voice is so good!💜 if you like this, you should listen to Mercyful Fate too! Particularly Melissa. ❤
I love watching them listen to metal! Lex is always so smiley and just enjoying herself. Brad always seems focused and giving the song attention in terms to the song structure and lyrics. I love when new people discover the music I love and enjoy it! It makes me very happy seeing Lex smiling and dancing around. Genuinely happy y’all are enjoying it!
Most of KD's albums are concept albums, meaning you won't get what's going on fully if you just jump in at the middle (the song "Abigail" is track #8 out of 9). If you ever react to a full album, Abigail is a perfect start. Listening to the whole album in order is like watching a horror movie.
The album "conspiracy" by king diamond, is a story that is told through all the songs. it is the best produced, even though all of the 80's albums are good.
As far as his albums, in Mercyful Fate the lyrics were mostly occult & Satan based. In his solo band he writes "concept albums" Each as album is an original horror story that writes the music & lyrics for. Each song is a chapter in the story. This song is basically the beginning of the end of the story. I recommend listening to King Diamond albums from start to finish so you get the whole story
King Diamond (real name - Kim Bendix Petersen) is fron Denmark. He first came to fame in the early 80's as the vocalist of Mercyful Fate. In 1985, a split in Mercyful Fate led to the formation of the King Diamond band. King Diamond also played keyboards in the studio. 1st album 'Fatal portrait' was followed by a full story concept album 'Abigail' in 1986... the premise was revenge of the unborn 👿 'Abigail LeFey' was the unborn daughter of the wife of Count LeFey who was killed by the Count after he discovered his wife had an affair... in 1777(?) the stillborn Abigail was laid to rest by the Count and the 'Black Horsemen' who feared she was a cursed child conceived from evil. Years later, after the Count's death, his heir Jonathan LeFey & his newlywed wife Miriam travel to the Count's mansion, but confronted by the Black Horsemen and warned not to settle in the mansion... Jonathan disregards their warning and moves into the mansion w/ Miriam. A ghost of Count LeFey appears to Jonathan reveals what happened w/ his wife and raises alarm that 'Abigail' will return. Miriam is pregnant and as she gets further into her prenancy, she starts behaving oddly... this track 'Abigail' near the end of her pregnancy, Miriam is fully possessed and reveals herself to be 'Abigail LeFey' and newborn child will be her rebirth... Attempting to free herself from Abigail, Miriam briefly breaks free and pleads w/ Jonathan to kill her... but Jonathan refuses. The album's last track 'Black horsemen' begins w/ the possessed Miriam shoving Jonathan down the stairs. A helpless Miriam then goes into labor and dies giving birth that night... the Black Horsemen arrive at the mansion to find a newborn baby eating the corpse of her mother. They take the baby away... presumably to carry out the same ritual as before... King Diamond has written most of his albums around a horror concept story. "Them" from 1987 is a great album by King Diamond... followed by "Conspiracy" in 1989. Others include 'House of God' (2000), 'The graveyard' (1997), 'Voodoo' (1998) King Diamond revisited 'Abigail' in 2002 in the 'Abigail II: The revenge'... the story picks up years later when 'Abigail LeFay' is apparently alive and a teen, spared by the Black Horsemen... she apparently finds the mansion she was born in to find her father Jonathan LeFey has survived his fall, but has gone somewhat insane... and a little ghost in the mansion appears at night to be calling her "mommy"...😬
Get that girl to a King Diamond concert ASAP. And yes, that's one person singing. King Diamond has a hellava range. But his signature style is that high pitched soprano voice. And he can do those lower growing vocals very well too. Another great KD song to try is Sleepless Nights. One of his most popular songs.
Great reaction, thank you for finally checking out the King. This album is a complete story from beginning to end, incredible musicianship, and King Diamond singing separate voices for all the different characters. Epic shit doesn't even describe it.
Most of his albums are concept pieces that tell a story throughout with each song leading into the next. After “Abigail” was the sequel called “Them”, and yes…the musical talent he assembled was amazing!
Hey guys, listen to the whole album. His albums tell one story. Abigail is the spirit of a stillborn baby girl wreaking havoc on a family. His album "Them" is about a familys grandmother who comes home from a crazy house who can see and talk to the dead. Listen to the song "Welcome home" next. Listen from beginning to end. They all tell one story. Its cool. Youll love it.
Brad was not feeling this AT ALL. I was the original that suggested Abigail since it was Halloween. Honestly, I just wanted to see Brad's reaction to King Diamond vocals

You're thinking about the Annabelle doll (the real doll was a Raggedy Ann Doll, but in the movies it was a ceramic doll). But, man.. King Diamond is so amazing. Been a fan for years now, and got to see him twice. Hoping that I can one day see Mercyful Fate live.
Annabelle and Abigail are 2 entirely different things !! One is a movie in the conjuring universe, the other is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.
King! King of horror rock!! All kings albums are concept albums Ghost stories . King changes his voice for different characters in the story Try sleepless nights live at the Fillmore
This album is a concept album and yes it is one person singing. King Diamond has a huge vocal range. The album tells the story of a ghost taking over the body of Miriam. You should listen to the album to really understand the story.
Yeah a lot of my friends liked king diamond I only liked a few of his songs and his other group merciful fate but a little goes a long way with King Diamond
The Family Ghost from Abigail, Dressed in White from Fatal Portrait and Welcome Home fron Them and Sleepless Night from Conspiracy are great songs. So are Mercyful Fate - Come to the Sabbath, Nuns Have No Fun, A Dangerous Meeting, The Uninvited Guest and Witches Dance
This whole album is epic and worth a listen! King Diamond is a great story teller.
