You can assign your search help to the column of the structure. Then While creating the field catalog use ref_fieldname = Column of the structure ,ref_tabname = Name of the structure. The search help will appear there.

View always bring data from database tables. We passed the name of help view in the selection method and we created the help view using database tables. so ultimately data is coming from the tables which is used in the help view.
