  • Fun fact: you can listen to any kind of music you want in an elevator.
    Thanks to everyone for your patience with the slower-than-expected release on this one! I'll have a mini bonus-content video coming out very shortly covering a couple of the projects that caused the delay.
    I'm amped to get properly started on fleshing out the loading bay next time!

    Amazing work! Its awesome to see all the planning, craftsmanship, and dust (lol) involved. Also its so weird, as someone who works digitally, to think you cant just ctrl-z undo any mistakes you make lol. You handled it like a champ! So much respect for this kind of creative work! Keep the videos coming!

      @@greentokyo for real hahaha, transitioning to fabrication over the last few years, coming from more than a decade almost purely digital has been... quite an adjustment. But it's also been cool to update the variety of tools my brain has to deal with any given 'whoops', so even when stuff goes irrecoverably wrong I'm glad to be learning from it these days.
      And most stuff, it turns out, is recoverable anyway!

    Nice work! Id love to hear more about what features you're adding to make it a good space to film in, given it's a pleasingly very small interior!
    I would be tempted to switch to one of those wireless lapel mic things everyone uses these days - wonder if Ian has one already. Would be a huge gain in video quality without too much extra effort
    Thanks for the video!

      I say this because your narrative, shots, editing etc are all excellent and I love the videos!

      @LuxTaylorArt  3 дня назад

      @@p07gbar thank you! So, we actually didn't have one before but I just recently got myself that exact type of mic, for future videos. Audio quality is currently the main thing nagging me about these and I do *not* want to set up the whole boom mic situation hahah
      For filming the show: we shoot the very vast majority of it on an extremely compact rig (Sony a7S, often without even a gimbal) and the other setups we sometimes use are pretty readily handheld too, if not quite so teensy. So for the most part, anywhere a body can easily maneuver, so can the shoot rig.
      Additionally, the entire set is being built with a fully removable front 'cutaway view' wall design, so most of the time when we're seeing into the ship our camera op won't even be in there, but rather in the larger room just alongside the ship, aiming in. With clever positioning and angling, this also permits us to shoot with a mix of wide and long lenses, and even to send in 'impossible' subtle fill or accent lights with custom flag/gobo setups, to supplement the lighting that will be built into the set itself.
      Glad you're following along with the build! Thanks for the encouragement and ideas 😄
