Just made this with a little less than a pound of plums lol. For my first time this went by smoother than I expected! The hardest part is definitely removing the seed. Thanks so much for sharing!
Yay, I am glad that it worked out for you. Plums are the best to start with because they are so high in natural pectin so they are pretty much guaranteed to set, or at least easier than other jams.
I don't think I've ever had plum jam, but it sounds delicious! It would've been nice to see the spoon test though, it's hard to visualize what a "good" spoon test is vs a "bad" spoon test without actually seeing it :-D
Plum jam is so good and really easy to make. Thank you for your comment. I actually just uploaded a video showing the spoon test and plate test. I had a last batch of jam to make and I saw your comment so I made a whole video about knowing when jam is ready. Thank you for asking.
Hope this helps with visualizing the spoon test, you can place a metal spoon in your freezer prior to boiling the plums. Once you're ready to test the mixture, remove the spoon from the freezer and dip it into the plum jam. Drag your fingertip across the back of the spoon, forming a line of removed jam, and if the jam stays on either side of the cleared line you just drew with your finger, it's ready. 😊 Happy jamming! I'm making plum jam today. 🎉
I'll bet that's tasty. Nice rich plum flavor. I turned diabetic so my canning doesn't include jams and jellies anymore. I'm restricted to watching other people make it and drool over my fantasies. 😅
The spiced jam was made in 2021 and it was soooo good. I am still working through some jam from 2020, but I am excited to get back to my spiced jam. If I remember correctly, I boiled it a little too long and it is nice and thick, but a hair sweeter than I usually prefer.
Great video. This is what I'll be doing this weekend!
All week I have been making batches of plum jam. I have one big batch left and then I am done.

I cut the sugar I put in my jams but they still have a lot of sugar, especially when you reduce it. Thank you for watching.
Did you leave plum skins in ma’am ?
I did 👍
How did your spiced plum jam turn out - or have you made it yet? There is no date on this video so I'm unsure.
