I remember when this was revealed, everyone (me included) hated how it looked. Then I got it for christmas. It became the best figure of the year for me. I was so amazed by the Dragon mode for a while. Glad it got a re-release in Evolution too.
Whats ironic was this wasnt supposed to even be a figure it was shoehorned in, when legacy was planned to be a netflix series with Straxus as the villain he was supposed to be the leader. Show got canceled and megs was put in his place
I love how the wings are made of that same flexible material stencils are made out of. I wish more translucent plastics were like this in Transformers.
I got this figure for $33.00 at Target, i only got it because of the price but I'm still very impressed i might as well get into transmetals just for this design

Probably the best birthday gift I got for myself 2 years ago. And STILL EASILY THE BEST Leader of Legacy. Perhaps of the Siege-to-present line of Generations. What he lacks in serious complexity, he more than makes up for in doing the simple stuff VERY well, though not to say he doesn't have clever tricks, coz he does, and I'm fine paying $55 for the SHEER AURA!
Funnily enough, I just recently found mine where I'd lost it in storage for a while, and didn't remember how to transform him. I was thinking I should look up a good review and transformation on him... and you posted this!
His robot mode back panel is actually supposed to tab in! Unfortunately there is a plastic support strut(?) near the hinge that gets in the way, but if you shave that down it tabs in no problem 1:47
2:09 I can confirm that your theory why Sandstorm’s chest doesn’t stay up is half correct. Those tabs in front of his arms are too big for their slots and 5 mm peg that pegs into that plate under his head doesn’t actually plug in so just clip part of the tab off and thicken the 5 mm peg
one of the 25 figures i currently have on display right now despite owning in the 100s, i just know this is one of those videos where people who don’t have it now will look back and be extremely disappointed they missed out on this figures “2024” prices
My copy's chest tabs in without needing the claws at all, that's an interesting problem on yours. Oddly, some Target stores in the US still have a fair amount of him and Skyquake, like a wave that moldered in warehouses until someone remembered to ship them out. Megatron I know is pretty high quality so I'm surprised to see him after so many rounds of weekly toy coupons.
I bought this figure after not having a new figure since I was a kid and I have to say this was possibly the best figure I could've bought on shelves to relight my passion for transformers. I found this guy in a WhalMart like two months ago and he was the only one left. He was $50 but I’ll never regret buying him. He mostly sits in dragon mode though lol

I found him in store months ago, he is good but I never know how to pose dragon mode. I had just finished Beast Wars when I bought one of these and was more caught up in having a modern version of the character and really wanted to enjoy this release. My issue that actually made me return it was that I didn’t really like the robot mode. It all came together well but things didn’t actually connect together well, meanwhile I adored the dragon mode and it made me kinda sad I couldn’t enjoy both modes equally
This is still on shelves at all my local targets for some reason. He and Skyquake just materialized one day. They were $35 American for a bit, but for some reason they shot back up to 55. This is a great toy, but I am desperately waiting for Transmetal 1 to get made.
Im a chug collector, dont really dip into any of the beast wars stuff, but this guy went on sale for about $30 AUD on amazon and it felt like an actual win, it is a fantastic toy. Looks and feels great, so if you were on the fence its a good buy at the right price.
Funny timing with this upload actually because I recently had a bit of an incident with this figure, I'd positioned the tail in a weird way thst made it pop off, and I was really struggling to reattach it, so I pushed really hard and unfortunately I hadn't made note of where my thumb was, so as it snapped into place it straight up punctured my thumb, so that's the first time a transformer has ever drawn blood from me.
There's a Gamestop near where I live that Vangelus and I call 'The Magic Gamestop', because we've had a ton of good luck there... but they still have a couple of this goober hanging around, so he's still out there from time to time
I love how solid this guy is, he was the first figure i got when getting back into collecting, i already had CW ultra magnus when i put them together megtron felt wayy heavier
This is absolutely the best Legacy Leader. The QC on it was so good when I got it, in contrast to everything else I got at that time. Except the shoulder on mine was installed backwards, luckily it was on a screw so I could fix it
Got this guy on amazon for like 34 euros and its superb, only nitpick is that the ponitail/tail needed two more segments and the hadn doesnt have finger joints because that handscreams a pointer index, the face is whatever. also should have used this for a king ghidorah for the godzilla collab

If his dragon chest & abdomen was 2 separate parts connected by a swivel& hinge system. It could’ve rotated 180° at the dragon chest then hinged up to cover the dragon abdomen, giving him a back that looked super jacked. If DNA or someone ever cares to do an upgrade, I hope they see this comment.
Definitely the best leader from Vanilla Legacy. I can’t really speak for Evolution and United (Tigerhawk? Sandstorm?). I’m surprised they still haven’t released a Cryotek based on it yet.
Dude’s actually been getting tons of reissues (least in my area) and I’m pretty sure it’s cuz Hasbro knows it’s one of the best releases of the series thus far
hasbro really peaked with this figure. even without the DNA upgrade kit this is a solid release. my only gripe is that i don't like the silver color on the face, that's why i custom painted mine. now if hasbro would consider the other transmetal 2 bots (Cheetor, Blackarachnia, Rampage, Depth Charge, Dinobot II) i would be a happy camper.

This is the only figure ive gotten an upgrade kit for; as much as I like it as is. That being said, I hope someone finds a way to convert this to Beast Machines megatron

This guy, Legacy Tigerhawk and PoTP Optimal Optimus are some of the few figures I display in Altmode because of how impressive they are.

If I recall, Hasbro fixed the tips of Megatron's wings when they reissued him in Legacy Evolution.
One of the few modern leader classes that felt like a proper leader. So happy this wasn’t a voyager pretending to be a leader.
Your copy is much better than mine. Most of the tabs doesn’t really work that well with the gold plates on the dragon arm popping off a little

It's also nice to have a Transformers toy that also works in scale as a Dungeons & Dragons mini.

Everytime I look at this figure and the word "YEEesssssss" comes into mind... I really love the dragon form way better than the Chrome T-rex
