Another great video, particularly the food prep at the end. I would note, however, that as soon as the video ended ("Hungry, yet?") a Domino's Pizza ad came on.

The utilities costs (gas, water, electric) is way less in Japan than I pay in the U.S. Mine run roughly +75% higher for gas/electric, and about +150% higher for water (which has school/education taxes added to it for some reason). The phone/internet is pretty comparable. I think I might pay a few bucks more per month for my 1GB fiber connection. The charge per call is certainly weird, nothing like that at all here, but I personally only use my phone to talk maybe a handful of times each year; and usually for things like customer support calls or scheduling doctor appointments, etc. Sounds like living in Japan would be significantly more affordable - at least as far as utilities go.

Interesting, thanks for the info! Yeah I don't remember how much my bills were when I was living in San Francisco and LA but I feel like they were more expensive. haha same with with the phone... that's why I decided to pay for each call rather than adding on a package.

This was so interesting! Here in the UK phone and internet are a lot cheaper (our Internet is £28, phones are between £12 and £30, but energy is soooooo much pricier. Before the current energy crisis we have, we paid £90 per month for gas and electric combined. I love learning about these differences between countries. Thank you for sharing! Also, amazing food 😋

Delicious meal. Our utility costs in Canada are generally higher, particularly electricity where I live. Phone and internet charges are very similar which surprises me.

Was definitely good! Interesting... I wonder if it's similar to US prices...

Barrett, our utilities, not including phone or internet, are about $300 per month on average. However, we have paid off our house so we don't have a mortgage or rent. Internet is $70 and phones are $85 for two. Your wife's cooking looks great! I understand that meal prep is taught in schools so almost every Japanese person learns to cook decently.

Thanks, she's good! Lucky me. I think there are some home ec and cooking lessons in schools, I'm not sure if everyone ends up being able to or not though lol

It's great to know about Kokoro. I always come across "the other one" and it's good to have a comparison. The shipping cost to my location is surprising reasonable. I was expecting much more. BTW, what about cable TV? Thanks!

I don't know about the other one but I liked my Kokoro Care Packages box! I don't have cable TV, just whatever comes through. I do have a few streaming subscriptions though haha

All in all I would say that Japan is cheaper. Almost all of my bills in each category were higher here in the U.S.

Yeah I feel like I was paying more in the US too, I don't remember my exact bills were... Thanks for commenting!

    More expensive than Singapore utilities.

It’s probably even more expensive than this now. An article came out that average utilities in Japan went up 20~21.6% in August.
