Hi Hugh - love your videos! At 01:22 you say that the Ultra has 4 ports PoE but the specs say that all 7 ports are PoE. This also explains why at 02:54 when you compare the switch with the Lite 8, there is a difference - the Lite 8 only has 4 PoE ports. I've probably missed a trick here...?
That’s absolutely correct! The 60w does have 7 which I missed. That would explain the difference although with only 52W of power it’s unlikely you would be able to use all 7 I would think. Thanks very much for pointing out my mistake and thanks for watching 🙏
Have it, am quite satisfied. Is the central network device for my cottage and feeds 1 AP, 4 cameras and an outdoor 5G router. Does what it's supposed to, but is otherwise a rather unspectacular product.
Hi Hugh, gave you a call yesterday. Did some aruba on AP's a couple of years ago and looking to upgrade to Ubiquiti. 1.6gb EE fibre so would love to utilise the full capability where possible. Aruba on Ubiquiti in your opinion for faster speeds?
I think this is incorrect, it states this switch can be powered by POE+ which will give a budget of 16w total on the outputs. This is one of the differences over the lite.
Well, maybe you've been waiting for it, but I'm still waiting for Ubiquity to do a decent 2.5! At this point they're almost as much of a joke as Synology for lagging behind.
Great review. But I feel like these are a complete waste. It's 2024 and Unifi needs to start making 2.5 or 10gb switches. I mean how many different flavors of GB switches are they going to make.
Thanks you very much and thanks for watching! Agree there is a lack of 10G and 2.5G, but the most frustrating thing for me is the lack of stock. It’s all well and good having loads of new products but if there’s no stock there’s no point!
Complete waste? You have never used something like this for deploying Cameras, have you? This thing is absolutely perfect for segmenting a POE Camera network. POE++ in and POE+ out up to a max of 42w. This thing is absolutely perfect for the price, and 2.5Gb would be an utter waste.
The US-8-150W is a very poorly designed switch. The one I had ran hot as hell as they all do. When it finally failed I opened it up and I got pissed. It was the power supply that failed. They crammed an open frame power supply and a big power hungry FPGA into that small box with no fan. Just awful.
We’ve probably installed between 30-40 of the US-8 150w and they are all still running fine. I agree they do run hot though. I have seen one we didn’t install fail but it was rack mounted and next to a NVR which was always going to be a bad idea 😬
I buy an off brand version of these for about 1/4 the price
I love the Poe in and multi Poe out, they are great
Yeah it’s a great invention, save a lot of hassle trying to get mains power into some locations. Thanks for watching!

@@home.network.solutionsall of them have PoE in all versions.

It does what it needs to which is what most switches do I suppose. Thanks for watching!

Ubiquiti have just announced some new WiFi 7 Access points today ruclips.net/video/7LarvlvPg14/видео.htmlsi=aBDWfYnaY1y2qnA_
Is it possible to use POE+ input for using POE (not plus) outputs?
Unfortunately not the input is only PoE and data in or a data out. Thanks for watching 🙏

POE+ in gives you a max of 16w. POE++ gives you POE+ outputs up to 42w max. Both of these are totals, not per port.

The Enterprise 8 PoE has 8 ports 2.5Gbps.
I bought it a few weeks ago.
Nice. How you getting on with it? Thanks for watching!

Lite 8 is 4poe only
Yep that's what I said at 3:00
