      I beg y'all not come down to Lubbock!!! Y'all are lucky getting pics of nerders and it ain't gonna be lucky for us that live here. I loved severe weather because I was born in Cebu Philippines where typhoons we're common. When I moved to NY was fascinated with nerders thanks to storm stories. But never in my wildest dreams that I would end up living in Lubbock, Tornado Alley, Texas. I blame the US Army, TDCJ, & myself for falling for a man in uniform.😏

    This is good training right here this video.. it shows first and foremost that you NEVER, EVER, assume the entire tornado is visible with that little drill bit at the beginning. It WAS ALREADY a half mile wide wedge at that point. But touching down in the dry line, even a dry RFD feeding it made the visible condensation funnel not tell the whole potentially deadly story. It was when it hit the dust field that it's true form became quickly known. So please SPOTTERS, never trust a tornado!!! Always assume the wind field is at least as wide as the base (wall cloud), thats how El Reno 2013 almost gobbled up everybody , the little carosel of funnels is a good photo op. Unless the actual tornado is already on top of you... Good catch dude.

    amazing and terrifying. its always amazing to see them out in the open like this. Im in Georgia, and usually you never even see them here. they tend to be soo heavily rain wrapped that a clear view like this is RARE..

      I lived in Atl. For a while, some years ago. One hit West End. Did little damage. I once heard a man say that he thought Atlanta was so well constructed a tornado wouldn't hurt it. Was he smart, or what?

    It's big, awesome and beautiful. But realistically a lot of it's size is due to all the dust particles it's sucking up. It's probably about half the size it appears, lost in that cloud of dust.

      @lachousalle31 2 года назад +5

    Beautiful images! Impressive structure. But it's nearly looking peaceful, am I right in the assessment that this was not a violent tornado?

    • @jamesstemmler7620
      @jamesstemmler7620 2 года назад +4

      Incorrect. Other footage from closer shows this tornado with multiple strong subvortices. Likely a very violent tornado. If it hit town would likely be MINIMUM of high end EF-3 if not EF-4 or higher

    • @rylandcisco4192
      @rylandcisco4192 2 года назад +3

      it only seems this way because there are no structures nearby. as the person above me said, had this tornado been in a more highly populated area then it would’ve caused significant damage.

    • @Smaugyyy
      @Smaugyyy 2 года назад

      Ok, if there were subvortexes then probably it was violent, only it seems to rotate relatively slowly in the video.

      @@rylandcisco4192 they released a preliminary report that this was an EF2 due to two power poles that were broken at the base by this tornado.

    Was there at Morton with silver lining tours on a ten day vacation. My first mothership supercell and wedge tornado. Very impressive storm. So much dusty inflow due to the bad drought so the storm was like a huge vacuum cleaner sucking in all the dust.
