Lol, came here to say this. Linguistically speaking, the english language had always been rhotic, and then the Britain deviated and stopped pronouncing their R's
I think the way she explains it is off. The modern uk language is very Americanised. But seeing as uk been around a long time before America it’s not historic.
Honestly, just just explains it weird. Like we used to have the same accent, what Americans use now, but England didn't like sounding the same as the peasants and evolved their accents specifically to sound more snooty and posh, and the rest went from their. Shakespearean scholars even say it sounds better and is more accurate when performed with American accents.
(So to all highschool Romeo and Juliet productions using terrible attempts at a British accent- Please stop immediately.)

American modern accent is made up of old English and didn’t sound like it does now when settlers first arrived. Let’s remember America is new in comparison to UK.
