Great vid Ron. Gonna set this one up in practice and try out a few times. This and similar shots do come up a heck of a lot in matches and particularly in straight pool runs
@@tiarnaigh Thank you Tiarnaigh, great knowledge to know. Have fun finding the limits to these shots. Also; when balls are dirty, you’ll get much more throw over when they are highly polished. As well; softer pocket speed helps throw these shots even more. Good luck! 🍀👍🏻 ❤️🎱
@@HillbillyIslandLife Nice 💪🏻 It’s surprising how often they come up actually. Knowing throw shots can give you a big advantage over many players. I once won a ten ball match while on leagues with an early frozen ten. It was slightly off line so I made a half ball hit and it threw into the pocket.
Good stuff! 9-ball usually doesn't present difficult spots like this, but good knowledge to have in the toolbox! Will definitely use in my 1P, 14.1 and 8 ball if not anything else!
@@dennisweaver532 Thank you Dennis. The main thing is to hit these shots on the correct side. Also; depending on how much throw is required, speed will play a big part so experiment with that 👍🏻
Great stuff again Ron. Frozen yes, but also balls close to each other. You have the tenacity to prove at what point there is too much separation for this effect to work. Always trying to give you some advanced homework. Haha.
@@CueballcontrolSometimes Thank you Dennis. I’ve actually never tried throwing a ball when there was a slight bit of separation such as 1/16” or more 🤷🏻♂️ I’ll test it out!
@@ronthepoolstudent I think of it as a sliding ball (because of close proximity) coming across the face (CIT). So yes slower hit will amplify as will cue ball spin.
Hi Ron. I'm scripting a video just now that will be out in a couple of weeks. I'd like to reference your video on throw if that's ok? The reason being is that in the UK, throw isn't even acknowledged as existing. Obvioulsy in the States, it's not even up for debate. My video is on how it's possible for 2 different countries playing the same sport can have such polar views on whether something even exists or not.
Great as always Ron. Just double checking. Did u say before ur shooting with a 11.8 mm Z3 shaft? I haven't bought a new one in a while. I love to "spin it" 🙃 and don't wanna get a carbon fiber shaft. I've never shot with anything other than 13 mm either.
Some good stuff right there!!! Now, if ya'd just stop giving it away, huh!?! Usually ya gotta hit a million balls (HMB) to learn this stuff! : ) Be Safe
This shot is interesting because it's really two shots in one. You've seen Ron's instruction on the rail first kick going around another ball. The second part is a throw shot. It's the combination of both. Sometimes we're not limited to a single "standard shot." Be creative when you see shots like this.
The Olhausen cut is brutal. You can’t force shots unless they go in clean. I call my table the rattler. It’s crazy watching my great player friends negotiate a run only to jaw a ball. Diamonds are easier.

I nailed this shot during a run- out a few months back. It's a great feeling when these shots go in

Cool, throw to the right equals inside left coming in from the left with a center to edge hit.
The gearing effect!
Beauty!

people who do not understand physics cannot make that shot. I learned that directional force when I was a teen. piece of cake
