I'm like that lady. These babies is probably what keeps Freddy going. She loves being a mother. Love this family. Thank you Larry for making these vedeois.
So sweet to see Kayembe and Jameela happily playing together. Adorable Kayembe has grown into a great big brother. That’s what happens when you have a knowing, nurturing mother like Freddy. Thanks for the video.
I want and hope that Freddy lives for many more years so that Jameela and Kayembe can continue to enjoy the protection and love that Freddy provides them.❤❤❤❤❤
The kids are really doting on Freddy today! Her kids love her so much! 😊 Kayembe is getting good at grooming. Jameela loves her branches. I hope Tusa is doing OK. Great video. Thank you!❤😊
Freddie is the most relaxed, chill mommy. I guess after that many babies she’s an expert and knows when to step in and when to allow kids to just be kids. I just love her ❤️
This one has been the best video yet Larry. You can see just how much purpose and meaning raising these two babies have given Freddy. Without them, I fear our old girl would have just sort of faded away into old age…but now she has a reason to live…2 reasons I should say 😊
Así es admirable Freddi sus hijos adoptivos la aman esa es la razón de su vida ella es casi de la edad de Nene a revivido con sus hijos ejemplo a seguir por los humanos su amor y dedicación es muy grande cuiden mucho a Freddi
Well look at Miss Jameela playing with Kayembe! He must be so happy the little ones are finally noticing him. I can't get over how much Jameela has grown. Freddy sits calmly, keeping an eye on her kids, lol. They obviously adore her. Thank you Larry and I love your t-shirt!
Kayembi really wants to inspect Freddy‘s hand. Must have something on there, but she doesn’t seem to mind. Jamila is getting so nice and big. They are such good looking gorillas. Thanks for the video.❤❤❤
I love watching Jameela awkwardly playing with the branches. She’s too adorable. Freddy CC: I am so grateful, had I not picked her up, she wouldn’t be lying and caressing my head right now. Jameela CC: Mommy I love you. Thank you for picking me. They are all getting along so fabulously. Love the grandpa shirt Larry !
Tusa seems miserable there. The other gorillas torment her. I have a hard time believing that Cleveland Meteoparks Zoo is the best place for her. I think thats why everyone is always cheering for her… we just want her to be loved!
I believe she was raised by humans. She does not know how to communicate with the others. Growing up she did. Not learn talk say gorilla talk. They have grunts hand movements that mean certain things pounding on you chest means, come play Freddy has done this before. Also she grabbed kayemde by the hair means stop doing that
Jameela, you’re surrounded by branches! 😂 She’s such a beautiful little girl. Mama can’t rest with two little lying all on her. Jameela crawling all over mom’s head. 😂😂😂 Kunda trying to take back the big stick mom took from her. Thanks Larry and enjoy your weekend. 🥰❤️❤️
Beautiful love it Question, why do they like biting on branches so much?? We would like to visit the zoo and of course them but does the zoo have scooters or assisted devices such as?
They chew on branches because it’s like a toothbrush for them. They like to eat the bark too. Not sure about mobility devices at Cleveland Metropark Zoo but good question! I have issues with my back that make it difficult to walk/ stand for long stretches.
Part of a gorilla diet is browse. That generally refers to branches. The gorillas will eat small branches, leaves, buds, bark, and they will strip the bark off thicker branches and eat that. The zoo has a rental shop just inside the entrance where you can rent electric wheelchairs, push wheelchairs, and ECV’s (electric convenience vehicles). ECV’s are not rented in the rain or snow. Contact rental services at 216 661 7603. On line at clevelandmetroparks.com, look under guest services.

I love your videos. I’ve seen other sites that show other zoos around the Us gives a more variety of foods like fruits and vegetables, but your zoo seems to only offer lettuce, leaves and sticks, which seems very boring. Any idea why? As for Tusa I wish they would do something to help her, she seems so lonely and bored. It’s no wonder she freaks out sometimes. I do love to watch the kids play.
The traditional gorilla diet in zoos relied on fortified biscuits as the main source of food. Those were higher in sugar and allowed the gorillas to eat their fill within an hour. The rest of their days they started unhealthy habits like picking their hair out. Gorillas in the wild spend about 70% of their time searching for food and eating - leaving less time for boredom to set in and unhealthy habits to start. Our zoo uses the highly desired fruits or veggies for use in health checks/training sessions.
Tusa did not interact with any of the young ones while I was there. She also did not enter a room where the little ones were. If she is ever in the same room as they are I usually get some video of her.
👍🤍Thanks Larry. I worry about Tusa Larry. What starts these fights? She stays out of the fray, yet N'neka picks on her and Kebi gave her a gash on the head. Is it her food they want.
Thanks for the responses!!! Another question please, is tusa okay? Will they evaluate her or? The staff Was that a normal fight or? And why does she seem to be the outcast?? Thanks all
Tusa is the lowest in the hierarchy. She arrived last and is the smallest adult. It was a somewhat normal disagreement. She has no broken bones, no bitten off fingers and has been evaluated by staff. Someone has to be the lowest in hierarchy , that one must deal with that status.
I read somewhere that she was a pet and knows how to draw. She is probably still learning how to be a gorilla. That is the sad part of all those ifiot humans who have monkeys. Gorilla, chimpanzee, any wild animal to raise as a human child. It is so traumatizing for them. Just a sad situation.
Hand rearing definitely affected her social skills. I’m not sure about her personality more than that. She used to use paint and paper at Albuquerque zoo.
@@SPMarti-69 It's weird how they let her get used to those things and then took them away as if their wish for her to integrate fully with other gorillas would supercede her preferences and memories. In a way, it would be like taking all reading material away from those of us who love books... and more.
Awww....Kayembe and Jameela cuddling with mom...and Kayembe grooming mom....I love how Freddy and her children love each other! ❤

Tusa is lowest in hierarchy. That should explain why she sometimes gets picked on. She is healthy and has no major injuries. Mostly a bruised ego.
Thanks for the responses!!!

Like a child being bullied if seen demure or weaker

Tusa was not a pet. She was allowed to paint at one time at the Albuquerque Zoo. Perhaps because she was “hand raised” gave that impression.
The way I understand the situation is that Tusa was raised by humans and has not fully integrated back into the troop.
Hand rearing definitely affected her social skills. I’m not sure about her personality more than that. She used to use paint and paper at Albuquerque zoo.

I wonder why ….
Maybe she isn't a good fit here if she's not accepted by the other's..That's sad..
FYI. Tusa was hand raised at the Bronx zoo. 2-1/2 years later she was sent Albuquerque zoo. She was there 27 years, then came to cleveland.
