But I agree Gwen it was an excellent job, funny they showed Jeff Epps at that first breach of the fence again multiple times, yet again failed to mention him at all, he was there the night before on multiple cameras telling people "We have to "Go In to The Capital"..and was then at the first breach site next day. NYT has failed to follow up on why he was taken off FBIs list, never charged, never arrested, even congress was looking into him during an FBI in a Congressional hearing. Breaking that story would be "absolutely amazing reporting and real journalism". Most of the people actually almost all are already out of jail. What stays with me: at the end of the video, the dispatcher (or whoever she was), desperation in her voice alerting how bad the situation had gotten, pleading with the officers to 'do what they were trained to do'. She gave us a perfect metaphor, a call to do what we must to save our democracy. When I feel my will wavering, I think of that dispatch, the dispatcher and the officers who fought like soldiers on Jan 6. It inspires me.

But I agree Gwen it was an excellent job, funny they showed Jeff Epps at that first breach of the fence again multiple times, yet again failed to mention him at all, he was there the night before on multiple cameras telling people "We have to "Go In to The Capital"..and was then at the first breach site next day. NYT has failed to follow up on why he was taken off FBIs list, never charged, never arrested, even congress was looking into him during an FBI in a Congressional hearing. Breaking that story would be "absolutely amazing reporting and real journalism". Most of the people actually almost all are already out of jail. And just so you know they did this story in long format 11 months ago, 7.7 million views. I would check that out if you liked this one..

Only so many hours in a day, and only so much energy; so given what's available, I choose to focus on the existential threat to our nation - the clear and present danger that is trump, trumpism and the far right militias like the Proud Boys. I'll take another look at the Jeff Epps piece. I've only watched the video once; no doubt I missed a lot - both in the video and other reporting.
I watched, the original NYT Investigates Jan 6 report back when it was released. Have watched it a couple of times since. What stays with me: at the end of the video, the dispatcher (or whoever she was), desperation in her voice alerting how bad the situation had gotten, pleading with the officers to 'do what they were trained to do'. She gave us a perfect metaphor, a call to do what we must to save our democracy. When I feel my will wavering, I think of that dispatch, the dispatcher and the officers who fought like soldiers on Jan 6. It inspires me.

If you have a weapon on your hip that you have drilled with to make it a part of your body, how do you not draw and fire at the most obvious threats? This comes off like a Proud Boys recruitment video. If the Times wants to do something useful, how about actually doing some work and identifying which members of the Capitol Police worked with the Proud Boys, or simply supported and facilitated their actions on the day. DOJ is having public hearings and the video they showed on their first committee meeting explained something similar to this video. That's why they interviewed the producer who was making a documentary on Enrique Terrio. Apparently Merrick Garland keeps a tight fist on everything and then bom he starts arresting people, he has already had someone arrested. The FBI has helped arrest some of the insurrectionists.
What we really need though is to restore voting rights, shore up our democracy, vote out and don't elect people from or running for political office who are fascists or pro authoritarian. We also need to start building cases against current politicians, Supreme Court justices, and political pundits who actively encourage fascism by praising Hungary's political instability as well, as those who lied about how much Republican governments will help the average Joe, or those who lied during their Supreme Court Justice hearing confirmation.
It's almost as though more than one party orchestrated this whole thing.
