I remember being a freshman in highschool and the elder security lady told us all the wild shit from Woodstock '69. Good times. Hope she's doing well.
He’s no Simon but he is alright. I’d keep him.
Wavy!!! Hes a neighbor in Nor Cal. My kids went to his summer camp. The Hog Farm is still alive at Black Oak Ranch in Laytonville Ca. I've been to many festivals there. Wavy is getting uo there in years, but hes still sharp as a tack.
I took the brown acid
I had a friend who went. He said the "side show" of what was going on with all the people that were there was more interesting than the music was to him.
This was legendary! Thanks for covering it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@geographicstravel Always do
I had a roommate who went to a festival in Georgia. She had her clothes stolen and had to hitchhike back to Houston in clothes the lost and found got her that didn't really fit, (too small) but it was certainly better than nothing. This was about a year after Woodstock. Oh, and I had a teacher in high school that took us to see the movie, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered going to it.
The BEST part of it was Jimmy Hendrix! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂
You are doing a great job Karl, keep in mind there are haters everywhere. There are those who hate Simon Whistler *vehemently* and there are going to be some who hate you. As a scientist and son of a history professor, I can say your presentations are professional. I hope this channel becomes a breakthrough role for you.
I was a college student that year, and I lived about 50 miles from Bethel.....but I had to work that weekend and nobody would take my shift. I watched the news coverage on my parents' TV and mourned my inability to be there. It was an incredible event---much more than a music festival

I love that the one person whom had every right to complain is the one that had nothing but beautiful things to say. The world needs more people like Max.
For many years there was a festival in Poland named "Przystanek Woodstock" something we can lightly translate as "Woodstock bus stop". (Ps. now it's still ongoing and it's called Poll and Rock Festival"). 3 days, many many many rock bands and giant field of tents. As years past by festival was changing as technology was growing, but first festivals I was on was just wild. I still remember well living in the woods in 2002, 2003 and so on. We always came early and go back home late, so basicly we lived there for a week or 10 days sometimes. Something like really strange camping. I remember fun we had building our own villige between the trees with lost os friends. Sharing canned food and alcohol. The smell of portable toilets (I don't wanna talk about this). And the mud. We had the mud and dancing in it was great. And ofcourse the music. Many many many rock and metal bands, but my greatest memory is Die Toten Hosen concert in 2003. Ahhh.. beeing young and full of energy :D :D :D
Pesky mosquitoes....
As a follow-up, you should do Woodstock '99. It was even more of a mess.
In 2017, the festival site became listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Being ten years old at the time I was too young to travel back east to attend Woodstock. I did, however, see the Woodstock film with at the drive-in.
That was a big party, festival to close out the rockin' '60's and the end of the hippy dream.
While Woodstock was going on, there was a music/cultural festival going on in Harlem. Sly And The Family Stone played at both. The documentary film "Summer Of Soul" tells the story of that event.
please keep karl as the permanent host.
You can wear the tie dye... Im smoking my magic green stuff... Legal were i live before you call the cops lol
I used to go to the renaissance festival every year. It's always a great time. Even camping over the weekend.
Max yasgur belongs in the rock and roll hall of fame
Just came back from there. The RRHOF is too busy with shrines to Taylor Swift. Max will not get in.
I've been lucky that the handful of festivals I've been to have been run well (though the Columbus Book Festival and its food vendors seriously underestimated the number of attendees). Now, talk to me about book fairs, and I've been to some ill-conceived ones.
Wavy Gravy was honored by Ben & Jerry's ice cream. They named an ice cream after him.
I greatly enjoyed this video! Very fun and informative, and it's nice to have one that isn't about the inevitable collapse of our environment. XD
Yeah, we definitely needed a break from that. lol
That jacket is honestly fantastic and i NEED one
I saw the movie and bought the Woodstock album, Legendary.
Amazing piece of history :D thanks for this overwiev. BTW you may find interesting history of Polish festival inspiired by original Woodstock. It is now called Pol'and'Rock Festival and it's history started in 1995 named Woodstock Station. And it is running every year since then. BLESS
Jesus Christ, was that a 5 minute ad?!?
best concert ever. great reporting.
The reason why they used helicopters was because the roads were at a standstill due to the crowds. Woodstock is still a popular place and people go all the time. There is also a museum. The town is beautiful. Many bands like Santana became famous due to the weekend. I think you missed the point. While many things didn’t happen according to plan here in America it was a huge success. Thank God for Yasgur.
it's funny how only many and profit , they wend down in history that all hippies and alt music lovers know the infamous Woodstock , the culture was cemented I'm history :)
I agree bring back Simon!
I recommend looking up Wavy Gravy's stand-up album Old Feathers, New Bird or the 80s are the 60s Twenty Years Later.
I reckon you're doing pretty good. I hope you stay
I was kidnapped off my front porch by hippie-gypsies in '69, taken cross continent to Woodstock, aged 4. Dropped me off, year later, same porch. Said I was kindovva drag, not cool. I'm a lawyer now, hate hippys, still have flash-backs.
Glastonbury next please.
What's the title page for your company ?
As history was made I'm glad I stayed away. Friends told me it was a living hell.
I adore cross pollination 😅😂
I love money convertors n don't see anyone putting it here.
Woodstock would have been a good deal still i feel like! 3 days for $20 would have been around $165 today (give or take a few dollars) 👍😂
Can you people do the sequel known as Woodstock 99’.
Now do Woodstock '99
I miss Simon. His voice was so much more soothing. Kyle would suit advert voiceovers for talk talk more ...

No shirt?
no simon?
He left about 4 months ago
You're doing a fantastic job, Karl.👌🏾
Too many ads. The kid is greatz, focus more on him and the theme. Cheers.
This new host is a downgrade
We want Simon
Nah... Bring back Simon!
no
Simon is too busy man and he owns this chanel so he can do what he wants
You know that it's Simon who made the decision to leave, right?
@@caramelstoner He does not own the channel. There was drama between him and the actual owner, which is why he left 3 of the channels he was on.
Carl does a great job, he's been doing this now for a month or two, for top tenz, bio, and geographics, as well as running his own channel.
He's been doing an awesome job with fact fiend for years now. He used to write for this channel, it's sisters and today I found out. So to see him Go full circle and host the channels is great!
You're not simon
Yes, you said that in a video a month ago. Simon is gone and not coming back
Dont you say!
Why are you still here? Go away!
