Wow! What an amazing exhibition of the musical genius of two major jazz pianists - both of whom have brought their improvisational skills to bear on what was already a remarkable composition by Catalonian pianist Tete Montoliu (1933-1997). The fact that Montoliu was blind from birth and that fellow Catalan Ignasi Terraza and the Dutch virtuoso Bert Van Den Brink are also blind is not just a programme footnote. Watch these two improvise on the already complex structure laid down by Montoliu in his 1974 classic 'Apartment 512' ... it's a rare chance to observe how the creative instincts of these two musicians mesh. They listen intently to each other, producing 'magical' moments of synergy as they build a finely crafted joint response to Montoliu's score with no apparent communication other than their ears and hands. Amusing and sometimes surprising each other as they take risky excursions into variations and volleys of call and response, they engage in mysterious exchanges of giving and taking the lead, without any clues about how they do it. Look for the delighted smile as each recognises a musical curved ball tossed over from the other player, only to be deftly caught and sent back with additional spin. To fully appreciate the skills of all three artists and understand how remarkable this homage to Tete Montoliu is, it's worth listening first to the original track: ruclips.net/video/rC_yXc-zD8k/видео.html ... Very interesting! No...it's much more than that., Fascinating, captivating, outstanding. It would be great to have their technical mastery of the piano, even more...to have their sensitivity and humour. Thank you both.
qué interesante escuchar esta obra de Tete Montoliu interpretada por dos maestros como estos
They are absolutely amazing live! The complicity they have is unreal.🤗
Both pianists displayed totally mastery of the keyboard. What a joy to listen to the two of them! Thank you!

If only we could give them our sight.
They make a place like heaven for us that still is on earth.
This is so good. Both are brilliant musicians.
Brilliant!

Excellent!!!
Woow!
好棒👍
Aquesta peça sempre m'ha deixat tocat.
Sencillamente música!!!
Tete Montoliu was born and died in Barcelona and he also was blind.
He was a wonderful pianist.
Los dos son de lo mejor. Además, Terraza es ciego, un virtuoso.
Ambos son invidentes.
Y Bert Van Den Brink tambieb, nació ciego, una maravilla
Heaven is inside you, according to the Bible.
Who composed Apartment 512? Tete Montoliu?
