Legit a contender for best metal band in the world around the mid-late 2000s. Band was so good even the random Metallica cover was fire and done in their style.
Moonsorrow remains my favorite band ever. Tulimyrsky means "Fire Storm" in Finnish, the song is actually comprised of 9 chapters, and it starts out with a night raid on someone's village and I believe almost all of them getting slaughtered. It goes further and I think it follows a survivor of that raid through his life as he grows up, it's been a long while since I've gone through translations of this song. Definitely Moonsorrows magnum opus to me, although I would have started with Voimasta ja Kunniasta or Jumalten Aika probably for a first experience of them. Ruttolehto incl Paivattoman Paivan Kansa is basically 15 minutes of goosebumps.
Finnish language is a part of the origin of epic fantasy, because it was Tolkien's favorite language. Elvish is a version of Finnish. Thanks for listening to this great band.
One more request into Moonsorrow line. Do the whole Viides Luku - Hävitetty album... there's only two songs in there :D .. shouldn't be a big thing since you have done full album reactions.
Wow, you're on a roll with great bands recently. Moonsorrow is another one of my all time favourites. Particularly their older stuff. Another band I saw live in Sydney, back in 2013! :)
@@caladandude wow, man. Small world. I still have iPhone footage of a lot of the songs. It was such a blast to hear Jutenheim! As well as all the others. :)
My all time favourite band and most epic song they have. But i have to admit, that not the easiest song to start listening Moonsorrow. More you listen Tulimyrsky the better it gets. It took me a while to start loving it.
The instrument that caught your attention around 21:45 is called a "jaw harp". It's commonly used in all sorts of "folky" genres. Moonsorrow do use it a lot in their compositions.
The reason that it, despite its long running time, is released as an EP is exactly that it does not consist of all or mostly new original material. It is one new track, two re-recordings of old demo tracks from way back when and then two cover tracks. Hence the release is supposed to be seen as a playful parentheses in their discography rather than a main statement.
So sick to see someone digging Moonsorrow this much! They've been one of my favorite bands for like 20 years. I have their rune tattooed on the back of my neck 💕 you should check out more of their stuff. Absolute magic. Pimeä is my all time favorite song. Ruttolehto is up there too. That boing boing is a mouth harp lmao Oh and when you want lyrics for bands like this i would recommend darklyrics. People usually post the translations too.
@imaKaiya To my knowledge there are no other bands quite like Moonsorrow. You will absolutely love 'Raunioilla' and I also highly recommend the 'V: Havitetty' album.
Please do more Moonsorrow! Suden Uni, their debut album, is one of my all time favorites 🤘please consider reacting to it, especially Pakanajuhla and 1065: Aika together!
Respect for deiciding to dive in with one of their long ones, even though I think Jäästä Syntynyt / Varjojen Virta would have been the better choice. By the way, what happened to the Type O Negative video ?
Seriously hate to be that guy, because I absolutely love moonsorrow. All of it. One of my favorite bands of all time. But personally I dont think anyone could have picked a worse song for an initial listening. Its a testament to how awesome they are that you soaked it in on the first exposure and enjoyed it. Just my opinion of course and Im stoked you like it, but I really really hope you check out some more of their stuff.
In an interview I think they said they watched Braveheart like 10 times when they made this album. They’re big into combing sound tracks with their music. Fun fact Moonsorrow is from the Celtic Frost song sorrows of the moon ❤
Moonsorrow it is a beautiful Viking band and has the most peaceful music ever as a meatal head I highly recommend this band and ensifurm for Viking meatal bands
Moonsorrow stand head and shoulders above anything labelled Folk Metal. Tulimyrsky captures them at their most black metal without forgetting the Bathory worshipping folk instrumentation.
Wait until you listen to their album Verisäkeet. It is pretty much close to perfection in the genre.
I vote for this! How can we proceed to get this happen \m/
The Voice of Steel album by Nokturnal Mortum is the apex of the genre imo, verisakeet is a masterpiece in its own right though
To keep it short - just listen to the whole discography :D

So glad you did Tulimyrsky, nobody else has the balls :D
But does anyone have the balls to react to Nokturnal Mortum?

"Viides Luku: Hävitetty" to me, is as wonderful as this one. Love your reaction.

I was there! Tremendous gig

All discography of Moonsorrow is Perfect, All !
Absolutely .. no filler .. just perfection.
Respect for deiciding to dive in with one of their long ones, even though I think Jäästä Syntynyt / Varjojen Virta would have been the better choice.

21:45 it's called a jaw harp or mouth harp, it's absolutely one of my favorite supporting instruments!! :)
BOING!
Moonsorrow is amazing! Can recommend BlackBraid, Nechochwen, or Panopticon for American folk metal

I agree. It's one of my favs from them but due to the harsh recording of Ville this would be the last song I'd recommend for a first listen.
Mouth harp used here in a water spell: "AURINGON HAUTA "Veden loihtu", music video".
Lol I remember asked you for this. I can't wait to see you reacting to my fav metal band. 🇧🇷🇫🇮
In an interview I think they said they watched Braveheart like 10 times when they made this album. They’re big into combing sound tracks with their music. Fun fact Moonsorrow is from the Celtic Frost song sorrows of the moon ❤
It was during the first album.
Moonsorrow it is a beautiful Viking band and has the most peaceful music ever as a meatal head I highly recommend this band and ensifurm for Viking meatal bands
moonsorrow is great
Awesome kaiya super excited I already know you love moonsorrow if you're posting this tomorrow
Thank you kaiya ❤️
Oooh I am so hyped for this!
Pls try "Moonsorrow - Jotunheim" 🤟
This song is a monster. I like driving in Finnish Lapland landscapes and listen to this song, fits perfectly.
moonsorrow!!!!! my fav band!
Pakanajuhla is my ish. Probably not one of their most popular tunes though.
Some songs I listen to are like 10 or 20 min ! 😊or even longer …
The "boing-boing" is an instrument called Mouth Harp or Jew's Harp!
41:28 there's a bit of silence at the end of the song. We are very sorry. Just play it again and the silence stops. Thank you.

Their most black metal is probably Verisäkeet though.
Please, I would like to see your reaction to the Great and Original Norwegian band WINDIR! Especially the albums ARNTOR and 1184!
how cant she find lyrics in english? Just google Moonsorrow Tulimyrsky lyrics in english :D. Not the brightest star in the northen sky :D

Why did you hate The Northman?
