Helllooo, people! Are you into remote editors for hardware synths? Will you ever try them? And most important: what do you think about my choice of synths in the studio? :D Lemme know down below, thanks!
Personally, I can say something about these editors because I spend hundreds of hours with them creating sounds. Often, editors offer more than you can get from the front panel of your synthesizer. For me, this is a key advantage. I spend several hundred hours with the equipment. Searching for parameters in the synthesizer's MENU and clicking the button twice... this translates into wasted days. I generally agree with you. Arturia showed how to make a good editor, but even Virus Ti works quite OK for me ( secret render in place using CUBASE !! ). When you're pressed for deadlines and have projects to finish, there's no time for communication problems between your computer and your synthesizer.
Virus TI 2 sound designer here. Sound via USB was tough. Plus you must have solid pci-e usb controller. In the case of laptop and incompatible USB controller you are fucked. No resize because it is 15 years old ) In 2024 TI 2 should be discontinued so wait for DSP 56300 TI will be commercially released. Virus is amazing and I just don't like it's bass in comparison with analog.
So the only thing I have that would qualify here is the Modal Electronics Argon8(M) and Cobalt8(M) respectively. They have their own software, which is an editor and is the way to update firmware. It is very useful for patch navigation and having another way to see your parameters laid out. It only works when the units are plugged in so it’s not a native VST instrument that you can use. And maybe this is me but I’ve been able to get the routing to work so you can simultaneously record the audio output and the MIDI data as to allow for things like parameter automation. For me 🤷♂️ it is what it is. I still like how I do things until I either want to do something different or I don’t like it anymore 😁
@@FoliaSoundArgon is wavetable whilst Cobalt is VA. It could be seen as splitting the capabilities of their 001 synth into two distinct units. The filters were a bit sticking point in the beginning but this has been addressed in a firmware update (the big plus of these kinds of synths). All in all, they are quite nice for what they do and the price point (about 500-600 based currency)
I just use Behringer's own Deepmind 12 editor and just send midi cc from my DAW. The official editor is actually pretty great and allows very deep parameter editing.
@@FoliaSound Yeah, there's definitely one. It's not perfect, but it's miles better than the one you showcased. They also have an iOS version, which is pretty sweet.

I use vst editors most of the time. But some synthase are very smart organized (NL 2, BS II) and doesn't need editor. Just librarian.
elektron overbridge, best working Connection for me ,and always updated
I heard only good things about it!
Hey Paul....Moog interface is definetaly a top notch and looks great....thanks for the vid, cheers 🙏
Hey, Johnny! Absolutely, Moog nailed it all the way. Be ready for the mix, I'll start it still in January :)

That Prophet sounds amazing…
Oh, yes, it is amazing. I will never get rid of it probably, an endless classic.

Never tried anything from Modal, but this day will come sooner or later :)

love plugins for HW synths. if the synth has a full coverage midi CC control then that opens it up for 3rd party editors too - like pro-800

There is one?! :O Pass me the link!

Not a VST but stand alone. But it is very complete @@lib747
Having no luck determining remote control availability for the new Moog Muse. Is this something you may review?
Moog Musie will come to the studio soon :>
What about resolution ? Some editors are midi cc 0-127 only.
Most of them are NRPN :)
Bardzo ciekawe
Such a shame Virus hasn’t been made into a modern plug-in.
It has, but it's not an official Access thing. It's called Osirus.
@@FoliaSound Ooo thanks for the tip 👍
@@ElectroPanPipes , ah, there's also Viper by Adam Szabo, a really great recreation of Virus C!
@@FoliaSound It’s made me want a Virus even more now 😅
