This band is and will always be my favorite indie rock band. I love other kinds of rock/ metal music. I am open to most anything! Thanks for your reaction! Thought it would be a nice change of pace! And that you are into other things beside prog! 🤟🏻

This is one of the most underrated bands ive ever heard. I was mad that it took me until 2015 to have a friend recommend them...too darn long. But they have became one of my top 10 bands all time. LOVE THEM!!!

Love this band. I feel these guys are one of those under the radar for how influential they are to the genre type bands.

This is probably one of my all time favorite albums. Peak “indie”. The wall of guitars, good lyrics, interesting prog like arrangements… a true headphone masterpiece. 🎧

Pleasantly surprised that you're checking these guys out. I was introduced to them almost bout 7-8 years ago by the way of Modest Mouse, they were in their van diagram of similar artists. Very striped down and raw sounding but a nice unconventional sound. I have a few of their albums, this one not being one of them, which I'm so glad that you're checking out cuz this album is one of their best if not THE best of theirs and I've slacked off to getting around to it.

Thank god I found this! My favourite band!
Another albums from them to check out:
    1. Perfect from now on (97) - This is probably their best one, my favourite one.
    2. There is nothing wrong with love (94) - First album with big singles, great stuff
    3. When the wind forgets your name (2022) - Which band can put up this masterpiece after existing for 30 years?

It’s very exciting when you discover another band to delve into!

@@JimNewstead Oh, yes! I only discovered them somewhat recently as well and have been a big fan since. I luckily caught their USA, UK and Europe 2023 tour and grabbed some merch to support them.
The singer Doug Martsch is the most unassuming rock songwriter genius haha. Alongside him are 2 great, talented and skilled musicians Melanie Radford and Teresa Esguerra on drums.
Hopefully I will find a copy of Perfect from now on to mail to you and maybe you will enjoy that as well!

Ohhhhh Jim!!!! This makes my heart sing!! I’m your Mars Volta buddy. BTS is right up there with one of my favorite bands. Amazing live. Sort of a college folklore band here in the States.
They are unbelievable! You will be utterly impressed. Amazing list of gems yet to discover.
Can’t wait to watch you discover more!

I hate that I'll never be able to hear this album (or band) for the first time again so it's very pleasing to see someone else enjoy it.
If i can advise an album that's nothing like this, but I was listening to prior to this (for the millionth time) is, "The Art of All Things or: The Healing Power of Scab Picking" by Carbon Carousel.
It's an underground hip-hop artist somewhat solo album from 2006 which is very truly grungy and Nirvana-esk. Lots of pure anger and emotion as he'd later go on to take his own life. (or accidently overdose.. no use for speculation, though if you also listen to his last hip-hop album "By the Throat", you can probably make your own conclusions).

    Good evening Jim,
Build to spil; never heard of.
I really don’t like the squeaky noises.
The music just isn’t interesting and fanciful enough to me; not my genre of music. It sounds a bit cheap. A garage band making their first album.

Does Built to Spill remind anyone of the new Alex Lifeson band, Envy of None? Not up to par with Radiohead imo. Not my cup of tea but...not horrible.

    • @numerohvh
      @numerohvh Год назад +3

What do you think Radiohead does better? This is highly subjective, but I feel BTS is more original, every one of their record is different and honestly I kind of grew out of Radiohead once I discovered more indie music.
