Sounds to me like all of the guitars are the same take, like they recorded the raw audio and then applied the FX and distortion later, cause all the notes are perfectly synced left and right even though the sound is different
I always liked the studio version of Alex's solo at 4:19 best of all. I read somewhere that he didn't like it and never played it again like that but I always thought is sounded like it fit better. One of my favorite RUSH songs.
"That solo. and 5:15, love it" FOR SURE BRO! I never knew he alternated the notes there like that. This angle offers so much more scope to what Alex was doing. For example 7;00 to 7:20 never really caught the different phrasing. A masterpiece!
I was blown away by Elegant Gypsy the first time I heard it. It was on an LP checked out from the local library and the speed was set to 45 RPM and what was pretty difficult for the time became impossible. I was halfway through the second track when I realized the error.... @James Smith
LOVE THIS! All of this is played on Alex's 12 string electric guitar (upper neck on the doubleneck). The "Hemispheres" album has always had a special sound that set it apart from the others, and it's the electric 12 string that does that, as well as the production by the band and Terry Brown.
I used to use Jammit for isolated tracks, and it had the final solo on a separate track, the rhythm bit was on the “main” track (this one). 4 years late for an answer, but I hope it helped.
I believe this is the studio version as the guitar solos are note-for-note and Alex doesn't play them that way live. They *wanted* to do the studio version in a single take, but are on record as saying the studio version was compiled from several of the approximately 40 takes they had done.
the original studio version was recorded out of doors in the UK....and used to capture off the reverb from a far off mountainside with sheep on it..mr bodyless head..lol
7:15 Those chords he makes in the solo are incredible how I love this man
Lifeson Chords hehe
9 minutes and 40 seconds of the greatest rock guitar ever!
Sounds to me like all of the guitars are the same take, like they recorded the raw audio and then applied the FX and distortion later, cause all the notes are perfectly synced left and right even though the sound is different
Alex's masterpiece.
Rush’s Masterpiece
That, and the limelight thing
There is NO doubt this man is a true master.
If you ever doubted Alex is a magician, here’s your proof. This is magic!
The solo sounds like a wraith atop a lonely mountain, getting progressively angrier.
Alex is King of cool on guitar. A prime example of tasty phrasing to build a mood.
Still love the solo at 3:39. Gives me chills
Alex Lifeson 🎸 G.O.A.T ... Period
Wow 1978. this 25 year old guitarist will go somewhere! :D
I always liked the studio version of Alex's solo at 4:19 best of all. I read somewhere that he didn't like it and never played it again like that but I always thought is sounded like it fit better. One of my favorite RUSH songs.
OMG!!!! I ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG FOR THE GUITAR IN IT, AND NOW I GET TO HEAR IT LIKE THIS THANK YOU!!!!!
This has a much more isolated feel, especially around 4:05. I love it. A masterpiece.
Lifeson is the Man !!🎸☺

Me neither!
I absolutely love this tone, the way he uses chorus to shape the sound is awesome
Truly magnificent hearing Alex's guitar parts isolated
Wow 😳 Rush tastic
Keep it 2112 people
Would love to hear an ISO of The Necromancer.
Thank you for sharing this! RUSH LIVES ON!
4:55 Top notch shredding.
I really missed Danforth and Pape solo... that's the the darkest point of the song
Thanks so much for posting this track, AWESOME!
Sooooooooooooo good.
Great job isolating the guitar!
Greatness
Brilliant!🖤✊🏿
My soul is smiling
Amazing
4:49 Boom! Pregnant!
5:15
Fuck yeah!
powerhouse
Could you do a bass and drum mix so I can play guitar with it!
Just play them at the same time.
Professor Foxtrot I don’t know if you are going to see this but here’s one ruclips.net/video/8U_wn_8h2M4/видео.html
God damn! 🤯
This is just awesome. Gotta get to work….
Please send me a wav or mp3
How do you do these isolated tracks?
using an equalizer you can isolate certain frequencies. For example: the bassline can be found in lower frequencies
He got this isolated tracks from a video game, which received all the separate tracks from the record label.
@@lordshiva83 not even the most advanced DSP tech is the same as having access to the master recording.
It sounds wrong without the drums and bass, but is certainly educational for this amateur guitarist!
Favorite 3:11
Is it me or does it sound so different isolated? I can hear string noise too!
It sounds the same. Alex always uses a few layers of guitar tracks on the studio albums.
+pryt86 Right, but there are nuances not apparent in the final mix.
Dustin Mitchell they are there. Its harder to here obviously cause everything else is playing.

James Smith thank god you don’t listen to country
What happened to the 2nd guitar solo
Different track, this is the main guitar master
Jimmy Page who? 😂
Could you do the Hemispheres tracks next? I've been dying to hear them
+Christian Chandler I dont have those, im pretty sure no one does. If i did id be more than happy, but oh well. Id do anything to hear Geddys vocals.
man its loads of fun synchronizing both tracks with the second solo :D
This is a perfect example between the difference of teenagers and young culture of 70s and today

Why would he use the double neck in the studio but a regular guitar playing it live?. Ithink it was the 335 on this track.
This was definitely not played on his double-neck, or even on a 12 string at all. It was likely played on his white ES-355
excellent!!!! isolated BASS pleaseee!!!!
+FELIX HDHM Just uploaded it, check it out :)
Why didnt you isolate the second solo? Only the rhythm part?
pryt86 I enjoyed hearing that rhythm part isolated. Revealed itself when the focus is usually on the leads
theres a link in the description to the solo isolated
Ya!
I used to use Jammit for isolated tracks, and it had the final solo on a separate track, the rhythm bit was on the “main” track (this one). 4 years late for an answer, but I hope it helped.
Where the VOCALS?!?!?? 😂
you forgot to tell them this is a live version/even though most of this track used little overdubs....they got most in one take in studio
I believe this is the studio version as the guitar solos are note-for-note and Alex doesn't play them that way live. They *wanted* to do the studio version in a single take, but are on record as saying the studio version was compiled from several of the approximately 40 takes they had done.

& to think this isn't even the cool side.
@Shallex At the time of Hemispheres release music used to mostly only come on vinyl records that had 2 sides, typically referred to as A & B.
