When I lived in Arlington I was leaving for work and saw a guy standing on the sidewalk staring up at my balcony where I parked my bicycle. I got out of my car and quietly walked up next to him and stared at it with him before I told him those are nice bicycles and asked him if he lived here. He was startled and said nothing and just started walking.

My question is, how do squatters and these thieves know when the homeowners are away? Makes me wonder if we are all being watched.
Many people, including alarm company employees, postal employees, pool guys, and anyone else you might notify give criminals information about vacant homes in exchange for kickbacks.
Too many people post their vacations on social media. If they aren't posting it, someone must see them with their suitcases but then, how do they know how long they will be gone? I'm guessing these wealthy homes have huge insurance payouts... Who knows what's going on but I remember when people used to hire "house sitters." You can hire armed house sitters... Good ones will know that no one probably knows those terrorists are there when they're doing their home invasions... Not to mention the squatter situations in most states, that wouldn't happen with an armed house sitter....

I've lived in Michigan and my wife's whole family is from there.
Most of the real estate in Michigan is red, and they have guns. The new blue government has made a slew of new infringements. But Michigan is NOT a good place to do this unless you're maybe in the city.

Legally armed, we raised a child who was on the autism spectrum to the age of 17 so far I don't know how old your son is but if you or your wife ever need someone to talk to we have battled all the fights with all the schools trying to get all the help and aid that we can get for the child we pull our child out of school to homeschool we've gone through all the rig and roll is the one thing we wish we would have had is someone who understood our struggle to share with. My wife especially since she fought most of those fights

A friend of mine put in some of those small personal carry alarms in an elderly disabled woman’s apartment. They are hooked to the windows and her front door. If any one of them goes off her next door neighbor will hear the noise. My wife and myself can also hear it and I will go check it out.

These are all great ideas, but if you’re located in a blue state, there are many limitations on how someone could react to such an event. You’re at the mercy of not only the criminals, but the laws of these states.

We don't have that problem here in rural Texas. Firstly, I don't think we have the type of home that they would consider worthy of risking their life for, and secondly they would indeed be risking their life.
I have been putting this out for years. I will say it again. Maybe someone might get it. Normal home alarms don't work. These people don't like attention. Power can go out. Internet can go out. They can shut off. What they can't shut off is hidden vehicle alarms that only need a 12v to run. That has supper loud horns and hooked up to LED lights to let the whole world know they are there. I use motorcycle alarms. They are supper motion sensitive. Supper loud horn. Uses less amount of battery life. Mine have picked up earthquakes states away. Average price. $20. On Amazon. How much did those people alarms cost? I don't let let the law enforcement know when someone is breaking into my home. I let the whole town know when someone is breaking into my home. It doesn't matter where you live. Where you need to put them. You just need a 12v battery. Then put them anywhere. Only one recommendation. Record them running so everyone can watch on RUclips and get a good lol.

I agree with you including the firearm portion, although I'm not totally sure how that helps in this specific situation. I also wouldn't discount a neighborhood watch program and since this seems to be occurring in areas where the folks have a degree of wealth, contracting with a well-established security company that provides mobile patrol services could be a consideration.
If they are hitting homes while people are on vacation or out of town, how's knowing how to use the gun gonna help?

Get cameras that have a snooze on the notification feature, when it’s a family member or anything harmless you can estimate the time that specific thing won’t be happening, you can set the snooze on that camera and you don’t have to worry about bringing it back online as it does that automatically. This is an awesome feature on some security cameras.

These jammers work with wired and wifi camera. My area had 7 or 8 burglaries. This happened mid day. Had a few hours in the house.
