I will die of laughter if Akane STILL doesn't know who P-Chan is come next episode. Do it for the lolz. See my full uncut live reactions to the episodes over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
i remember a ranma 1/2 abridged series that actually allowed the animals to talk, so when genma was a panda he still spoke english. So Ryoga as a pig was still talking in front of Akane, so Ranma asked her you hear when pops talks right, and Akane says of course I can hear when people talk. Ryoga says something and Ranma goes you don't hear that? Akane then says, of course I do he's saying oink oink. I love this bit from the abridged series because it takes the craziness of the show and brings it to the next level that Akane is so dense that even if Ryoga started talking in front of her or to her as p-chan she still wouldn't get it
remember when ranma transformed right in front of kuno and he STILL didn't get it, I honestly believe that could happen to akane and nothing wouldn't get it at all with ryoga
6:50 to be fair *she* made that collar, probably only made one, and has what's probably the only key to it so it wouldn't make sense that it would be around anyone else's neck vs Ranma's outfits which I doubt his tailor is showing up to these if it's not just someone who already knows the secret like his dad
In the 90's, two of the things people used to love to do with Ranma fanfics was invent new characters with crazy new "martial arts" (I swear someone did 'martial arts sandwich making' at one point). There were the usual piles of bad ones, obviously, but there were some REALLY good ones too.
The whole ranma, akane, and ryoga fights and swapping had me laughing so hard, especially the different ways they behaved when they were getting helicoptered, just too many funny scenes to name.
ohh your going to be in for a treat for even more stupidity with a competition of who keeps one uping the other Ranma's iconic line she is my fiancee is where akane is slowly starting to realise that Ranma does like her a bit
Ranma truly has an unhinged collection of weird esoteric combat styles, here is a mix of canon and fandom martial arts: Martial arts ping pong, Martial arts cheerleading, Martial arts tea ceremony, Martial arts carpentry, Martial arts takeout delivery, and Martial arts panty raiding. Plus some of the special moves the characters will start learning are really crazy. There's even an arc where Ranma is competing in Martial arts competitive eating, and damn that episode has premium kink coding.
Comes from a mangaka not having a background in it but still wanting to do stuff with it. Very fun loophole imo. Instead of pretending you know anything about martial arts
3:16 lol they “censored” (if you wanna call it that) the ice skating fight. in the manga azusa nails ranma with the scates in the face. here she kneed him instead XD
I am a long time fan , I am happy that there is this remake , it’s about time ! It was needed. I find your reviews interesting, I am happy that you are bringing awareness for this anime .
I've read the manga but I can't recall seeing any police in here. That doesn't mean there aren't any, it has been a while. Plenty of random magic and even mail-order power armor but I can't recall any police officers.
If this follows the manga then we'll something more impressive next episode. The OG anime completely changed how it ended from the manga so we didn't see what happened in the manga.
Love the drip in those ice skating outfits. Rumiko keeping to the theme of Ranma's Chinese-inspired wardrobe. I will say it is a bit jarring that while we're in the middle of this absurdist battle that we're not really supposed to be taking seriously, all of a sudden Ranma gets slammed into a wall, he's unconscious, and Akane is crying over him. I remember stopping at that panel and going "wait, what? Why is everything so serious all of a sudden?" Then Ranma, who's clearly very injured, gets up, and now we're making jokes at his expense, again. Like, I know Ranma's tough, but dude should really not be standing right now, let alone continuing the fight. Ryoga, my precious boy, you didn't consider the possibility of the rink being a frozen over swimming pool. You managed to turn the rink into your own personal hell, congrats. Akane being unable to fathom that Ryoga is P-chan reminds of Kuno being unable to fathom that Ranma and the pig-tailed girl are the same despite Ranma literally transforming right in his arms. It just doesn't compute. But, ya know? Rumiko has this way of just making you love the running gags in this series.
To be fair though Akane is probably smart enough to get it if she saw Ryoga transform in front of her. Kuno on the other hand only has a passing acquaintance with reality.
It is fun seeing them slowly getting together. This relationship was forced on them, so it makes sense they wouldn't start dating right away but it is nice seeing them develop feelings for each other.
In hockey, getting sliced is surprisingly rare considering how full contact it is. But then again, they're pretty armored up compared to figure skaters.
Kind of unrelated but there was a comic with a common thing called “reality blindness”. Yes that really is part of the lore. It’s how the public at large doesn’t notice all the mad science abominations around them. Which are actually nice and neighborly despite their creator’s intentions (most of the time).
The whole idea is that many things don't make sense, and stupidity is part of the hilarious chaos in this story and the fact that Ranma is the only sane one in there is giving the balance to the whole thing😂 Akane will stay oblivious to Ryoga being P chan forever 😢
This ice-skating match looks more like a fight to death for me ⛸️☠️ Ranma did a great job by protecting Akane 🔥😌 I really like how their chemistry is brewing 👌🏻 How could she not realise now that Ryoga is P-chan yet 🤣 Perhaps it will never happen 😂 I am hyped to see how this match is gonna end 👀
After thinking long and hard. I came to believe that should Akane end up at Jusenkyo, that she would fall into the spring of drowned cloud white Japanese Chin. Or maybe Miniature Pinscher. Both are very loyal dogs, and both suffer from big dog syndrome.
First time seeing Ranma 1/2, eh? Don't worry, this series was basically Urusei Yatsura 2.0, which was basically Japanese manga's answer to the Looney Tunes. Nothing EVER gets resolved in this series, not if it'd have a lasting impact on the story. Status quo is GOD here.
Considering how sped up this version is I was really expecting this arc to complete this week. Much of the earlier episodes were effectively going by twice as fast. But the skater arc was three episodes in the original, and looks to be three episodes this time as well. Gives me hope that the next arc will also be done in three episodes instead of abridged.
The original added a lot of filler. The remake is pretty closely following the manga, and is pretty consistently hitting three chapters per episode. This arc is 8 chapters, the next one is six chapters (same as the gymnastics arc), so we should see the conclusion of the skating and introduction of best girl next week, with her introductory arc taking up the last two episodes of this cour.
It's 8 chapters in the manga, the two episodes so far in the remake have adapted 3 chapters each. The original adapted 2 chapters per episode for its first two episodes, then truncated the absolute hell out of the remaining 4 chapters, stuffing them all into a single episode by cutting LOTS of content from them.
I will die of laughter if Akane STILL doesn't know who P-Chan is come next episode. Do it for the lolz. See my full uncut live reactions to the episodes over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
@@AHBrandonReviews I will say nothing other than this, welcome to ranma 1/2
The fact that Ranma is the most sane charcater in this show says everything 😅😅
The fact that they had a giant poster of Ryoga in his pig form for the competition is hilarious
Akane taking the whole "seeing is believing" to whole other level! Unless she sees him transform in front of her she won't acknowledge it
I love her but she is such an idiot
@AHBrandonReviews wouldn't be a Ranma 1/2 character if it isn't STOOPID

Ranma's Ice sakting outfit looks sooo cool!!

They're so dramatic with their imagination 😂

appreciate that ranma and akane do care about each other and seeing the moments they have each other made it so good

in the manga azusa nails ranma with the scates in the face. here she kneed him instead XD
In the manga she uses the toe, it's a flying kick rather than a knee.
This episode was freaking awesome. The comedy never stops and it is never ending to make sure I laugh. XD

We're just ignoring Ryoga destroying rink with a single punch?
Sanest thing tbh
the most normal thing in Ranma 1/2

How cute, you think you're going to maintain your sanity.
In hockey, getting sliced is surprisingly rare considering how full contact it is. But then again, they're pretty armored up compared to figure skaters.
Because the gear is designed to prevent injuries and they aren't jumping above each other like in figure skating
Azusa is a cute nightmare fuel, but she is slowly growing on me. Or maybe that´s just Stockholm setting in...
Rumiko has made it a point that the character of Akane is "dumb as a brick"..
im still waiting for another material arts involving tea ceramonies
As a long time Ranma fan, you made me realise that there are absolutely no cops in the manga whatsoever
Here I sit, having watched the original series and knowing how everything play out but still watching to see the small changes that were made.
Kind of unrelated but there was a comic with a common thing called “reality blindness”. Yes that really is part of the lore.

Martial arts ramen delivery
Crazy idea:
"Martial Arts Law Enforcement tournament" eh? xD
Yes you are right, there are a lot of annoying characters but they are fun.
I love Ranma and Akane's chemistry too, it's really good.

@@tedpair8219 It should indeed :)
They’re all idiots, or crazy, or both. It’s just a matter of who’s the most idiotic or most crazy.
Vote for episode 10😊
