Very informative and important video. Probably saved me a ton of frustration watching this before I started to install the marquee. I actually took your advice and just decided to run the marquee through it's own ac adapter power source rather than taking power from the cabinet itself. I didn't like the idea of the marquee staying on 24/7 or taking power from a cabinet that was never designed to do so. Anyways, thank you again for this video. ArcadeModUps don't come with any sort of instructions so it's pretty cool of you to share this with everyone.
Nice. Good vid. I probably won't buy any more without built-in light-ups, but the arcademodup solution is great for the Galaga cab I got on sale from WalMart :)
I know this video is 3 years old, but I'm sure some are looking over reviews for this company... I just received the full cocktail arcade upgrade kit from ArcadeModUp. BOTH encoder boards for both new control panels that was purchased in the kit were set incorrectly, having to cut out an opening into the cabinet to allow them to fit. I'll have to customize something to protect them as they're currently exposed now. The encoder boards are glued and I don't want to damage them. *Second issue*; the board given to connect the HDMI to the LCD screen was carelessly packaged, I'm assuming this caused the bent connectors and I crossed my fingers they worked and weren't too damaged. *Third issue*; a power strip was provided with electrical connectors to allow the power strip to remain inside the cabinet and the plug end to be outside the cabinet. They used the SAME connectors on both ends! Luckily, I keep similar connectors available in my shop and was able to remove and correct. *Fourth issue*, this kit was advertised on their YT commercials and their site that the head-to-head cocktail mod kit allows the screen to flip to each players side on 1 player games, instead it is splitting the screen vertically and is completely unplayable. Along with this, some of the emulators are splitting the screen incorrectly, putting player 1 on player 2 side, and vice versa. I'm going to attempt to repair/fix these issues on my own. Reading further reviews, I doubt I'm going to get any assistance from this company and I'm not going to waste my time. I would suggest others look for a company with more quality control, and that has evidence / proof / reviews showing they stand by their products.
Good to know. See, this is the kind of useful information you just can't get from "influencers" who get free stuff from the company they're supposed to be reviewing.
Man, I literally just ordered 2 of these for my MKII and Asteroids cabs. Was looking at reviews and came across your channel. Glad I saw this, thanks for posting. Now, I'm going to order some different LED light strips. lol
Yea man unfortunately my arcademodup marquees showed up & look like shit. I ordered 2 & wasn’t happy at all. Beside the terrible packaging, two marquees thrown in a box with bubble wrap that isn’t tapped so during the shuffle the marquees scratched the shit out of each other. Then the marquees themselves looked even worse, the print is all rippled like it was rolled up like a posted & not pressed smoothly against marquee plexi. The tmnt image is super low resolution! I’m pretty upset & they haven’t answered their customer service line in two days. Been leaving messages & sending emails no reply
This is the only thing I was confused about thank you! So im looking at 3 power supplies, a master/slave power strip... has anyone tried to replace the original power switch with a single pole momentary switch? My thinking is you should be able to replace LCD control board on/off button with it and should get same results. Then when monitor is turned on power goes to marquee and pi.
Alright, I got a problem. I made the dumb mistake of ordering the custom marquee before purchasing the cabinet. Now that I have the cabinet, I figured out rather quickly that the holes on the custom marquee don't line up with my cabinet. Apparently, this marquee is for another generation cabinet. To make matters worse, I don't know what generation my cabinet is. I'm already disappointed with Arcade Mod-Up as it is. If there ever was a choice to choose the proper marquee on their site, I never seen it. Any suggestions of what I should do, outside of returning it? Any way I can find out what generation my cabinet is?
Wow wish I watched your video sooner. I installed a modup marquee on my Final Fight cabinet and I had a similar issue. My machine would run and randomly shut off. To appease my denial I tried a few more times and totally fried the pcb board. I to came to the same conclusion with the designated power supply, just a little to late. Surprisingly even though the warranty was up months ago arcade1up sent me a new board free of charge! Of course I left out the whole beginning of the story but hey.
That is a bit what I thought. These were not designed to be modded after the fact. You can, but not with that in mind. Hence why the power delivery they chose probably only a couple watts to spare.
Arcade 1up actually made these new cabs with a dedicated plug in for a 3rd party light up marquee which is why the splitter used in the previous gens didn’t work. ArcadeGameFactory made a version specifically for the gen 3 cabs
Yea I don't want to wait a month either. And the newest Gen 3 marquees are sold out, so it's going to take even longer than a month to get a marquee from the arcade game factory. I just got the custom marquee artwork done. I'm gonna order the led marquee tonight from arcade mod up
IronBuddha80 you could go with the ArcadeModUp marquee it’s legit and looks great just don’t try and piggy back off the 1up power supply and you will be fine.
Awsome ..glad you got your cab brother ..ive been there for your 1st or 2nd stream...when that hurricane hit texas ..when u used to play tnmnt on your projector 👍 be easy brotha
How did you connect the original marquees bottom plate onto the Arcademodup? Mine already have holes in the plexiglass that are wider than the original screws and deep enough to prohibit any grab. Both of my marquees have these holes. If I could find a small anchor that I could push into those holes that would probably work but don't know if such a size anchor exists.
Not to sound silly but how was the marquee secured to the dual speaker board because the directions online say use an existing piece of wood from the non lit marquee and place it on the new one?
Interesting. I think those LEDs would pull practically nothing. New said 3rd generation. Did you try first generation, any issues?. And any follow-up from arcade mod up? Figured it must be a power adapter just for the LEDs
Arcade Mod-UP makes the worst marquees on the market. Those 3/4 inch brackets look like shit. Their light fixtures are the cheapest available and they can't even cut the correct groove on the back. The light bleed is embarrassing. So many better options out there. Terrible.
I won't buy Arcade Game Factory for the same reason. In today's world of 2 day shipping a month is unacceptable. As for the splitter issue I have modded cabs so I need another option anyway. I'm thinking a usb powered led strip so it turns off with the pi/pc. I think I'll go with this one. Thanks.

mastershredder78 thanks man glad I could help
mastershredder78 I will be honest my marquees were shitty, but I did not have this power issue at all.
Nice. Good vid. I probably won't buy any more without built-in light-ups, but the arcademodup solution is great for the Galaga cab I got on sale from WalMart :)

you lucky my lights missing and nobody help me
Quick ?....can you show or explain how you set up your leds under the control panel?
Good to know. See, this is the kind of useful information you just can't get from "influencers" who get free stuff from the company they're supposed to be reviewing.

ArthriticZombie the leds are fine just don’t piggy back off the factory Arcade1up power supply. Order a stand along power supply to run it off of.

Great video, do you have a link for the lights you got from Amazon? Im going to order the marquee and put mine in the exact same turtles cab

Okay one last question.. so a 12v dc power supply for led strips?
When I used the splitter from arcademodup for my MK2 cabinet the board started smoking!!!! I unplugged really quickly!
JonPantofel holy crap! Ya I don’t think it’s a good idea to split power from the factory power supply

Just installed the marquee from arcade game factory. No splitter required. Works fine

Can you post a link for your green LEDs under the control panel that looks really sic man !!! Appreciate it

that turtles poster is pretty sick.
Do you have light bleeding through the front & left & right of your Marquis ??
Deus Darrell yep I use black electrical tape to keep the light bleed off the screen on the bottom of the marquee
Awesome man. Great video and nice tmnt cab. I cant wait for mine
Hey Chris the should be a spot on the PCB were you can plug in the light Is Mark with a light symbol You have to get adapter for it
Check out cooltoy video on it
Where did you get the adapter?
I'd like to know where to get that adapter as well.
I know you purchase arcade game Factory one comes with it
@@h2ohead1 I know they sell one with their marquee but there has to be a way to just but the adapter. We just need the specifics for it.
Thanks for the heads up. :)
I’ve had other people say that they haven’t had any issues but it didn’t like mine at all so I would say there is no point in risking it

Good lookin out
Those are awesome
Incredible.
Got an ArcadeModeUp marquee on my TMNT. I have no issues using the splitter. I wonder if this is unique to your setup somehow.
jantheman2 that’s really odd, maybe you have less leds and it’s using less power?

Al Bundy mine came with shorter fasteners

MILTON Torf I think that’s a harsh statement I think the quality is pretty good On then with room for improvement
FIRST!
