I love that you talk about being loose and in tune. Staying tight and focusing on intonation always seemed to make shifts harder in real time, and now i know why!

I absolutely love the research scientist comment rather than self testing.

I am usually in my most comfortable clothes when I practice, but my issue is not having a good amount of space to practice. I share a 2 bedroom apartment with my roommate, but I am confined to my room which is not as big as my old one in the house we sold a few months ago. The apartment itself is small and because he has a lot of junk, my room is the only relaxing place for me, but again, the space is limited. Sometimes I reserve the practice room at the library, but it's not very relaxing for the 2 hours that I have it. I need to have a dedicated practice space.

I loved your tips and will try to apply them. I am terrorized by the idea of practicing for some reason. I'm an adult beginner and it sounds so awful, it hurts my ears and I tense up my whole body and mind...and then give up and it takes me a week, or weeks, or years, to try again, with the same results...so I don't make any progress. I am on the autistic spectrum and am overly sensitive to sensations and sounds, so the familiarization with the instrument is very difficult. I play the piano well, so the frustration with learning the cello in the past 20 years is very real (I make no progress whatsoever, still in first position and can't even play scales, or hold the bow correctly because I always give up after a month or two of trying). If you have any additional tips for someone like me or references to books with tips, I would really appreciate it, because the cello has always been my lifelong dream and I am shattered to see that I get nowhere with the instrument. Thank you very much for your channel, I love watching you play and learning about your approach to music and practice, it is very inspiring.

I greatly appreciate your important explanations. For instructional purposes I would love to see more physical demonstrations of the concepts on the cello.
