    I'm from St. Petersburg, but I've moved away 3 years ago, so now using them and seeing other people using them just gives me hardcore nostalgia. Your artwork is lovely, I love your color scheme especially.

      I love White Nights’ yellow ochre and raw sienna. Have them both in my palette even though they’re similar. Their phalto colors are definitely related to devil. Can’t remember on the top of my head but I don’t think violet is completely lightfast, I’ve never tried that one. Anyway Can’t wait for the premiere. Love your art and videos!

    White nights were my first 'better' watercolors and I love them to pieces. I did buy exactly the set you have and since then filled it with other white nights colors. I do have other palettes but this one is still my favorite one. Also, love the panting you did today!

    This is just me; I think pigments from brands like Daniel Smith, Holbein, and Schminke are more vibrant, but what I like about White Nights are 1) The palette cases are well-designed and made of nice materials (plastic or tin compared to those containing W&N, DS, etc; like this case in particular I'm comfortale using whether plain or with the extra mixing plate), and 2) most colors, though not so vibrant in swatching as you said.... seem to lay down with better control, and 3) WN combinations (not mixed with other brands) seem to have a certain cohesion when dry that I don't often get with other brands. (It's like I mix less and it just works?)

    I LOVE your painting! You inspire me to keep working at my watercolours :) I really like your techniques, especially the different coloured pencils in the hair for detail. Love it. I also love how much story is in your piece! She looks like she's had a long day and is plunking down to think about someone or something that she dislikes? It's awesome. I love it! Keep up the amazingness :)

    Really loving my sonnet(white nights student brand) and my meiliang watercolors. But I also got 1 color from holbein and shinhan. The one from holbein being an opaque light blue while the shinhan one is a dark and saturated indigo. I love all of them and thinking of expanding my watercolors with buying a mijello 24 pure set

    I really love this brand, but I do have an issue with certain color. I bought and collect individual pans from one of the local art store in my country. I think the latest pan I got was shaknaz red, and the first time I swatched it, the color was really light and not vibrant. The surface of the paint was also kinda slick I guess? I couldn't see any pigment on the tip of my brush when I dipped it into the pan. So I checked the pan and found out that there was kind of "layer" from hardened pigment (I'm not really sure, but after I crushed it, it became "normal"). The pigment was just covered but I don't know why this happened. I dont't think it was a big problem, but it did make me a bit uncomfortable.
    I've watched vidoes on youtube reviewing this brand and some people said they don't really like it. But in my opinion, this brand offers one of the best quality (not considering the problem I found lol). The paint is vibrant, creamy, easy to blend, and the color selections are just so lovely.

    • @dashas5198
      @dashas5198 3 года назад +1

      Ahh I had the same problem with shaknaz. red as you, though it wasn't the only color with a problem.
      From what I've read, apparently some of the white nights pans aren't always stored in warehouses properly, and very cold temperatures cause the paint to turn slick/rubbery.
      Haven't personally experimented and put any paints in the freezer haha, but I did get unlucky with my prussian blues (3/4 pans I bought were hard as a rock), and some of the greens had that slick surface you had to remove.
      What colors are your favorites though? They have some really nice ones in the recent additions.

    Daniel Smith and Schmincke are my current favorite watercolors. I have the White Nights Pastel coloured watercolor set, which I like. However they seem to be less concentrated, I used up a big divot out of each pan finishing a small size painting. They are very opaque and dry with a mat finish that reminds me of gouache.

    Yesssss!!! I knew I couldn’t be the only one with a problem with that yellow ochre lol. Exactly the same issue with me, I really need to dig into the pan and it would still be streaky, which is a shame since I like using it. You’ll have an easier time if you mist it first before painting hehe. I’ll experiment with that color scheme din nga XD so pretty! I’m kind of biased since I’ve only ever tried a couple of watercolor brands, but I love my White Nights too! That, and my Paul Rubens. I think I might also enjoy Mijello, but still haven’t tried them out. As always, your works are 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

    Enjoyed the content, and the work entirely. Like that you have tried a few different brands and are willing to compare them. Big investment with higher quality set's, but its the only way to find one you like best. Many colors don't have very good lightfasteness, and will fade or even change color over time. Your mention of Yellow Ochre is best bought from French maker's if its labeled as J.F.L.S., jaune, fin, lavé, surfin. I could write a book on W/C paper's, but its of no consequence if you never put a color passage to any that are offered. What most want are the highest professional regarded maker's, and then deep tears over its cost. Fabriano has been in business for 500 years. I appreciate their having that level of expertise, and will gladly pay for it, never mentioning its cost even to a perspective client. The Art Cost This Much! You want things to hide the holes in your plaster walls at home, and want it cheap, buy this years calendar, but don't expect me to cut rates on my creations. Even museums and galleries never hang a watercolor for very long, any where near direct daylight. All W/C will eventually be effected by UV that is present directly or indirectly where the work is situated. Also humidity and temperature has a bit to do with longevity of life and the colors you choose to use. Have a great week young lady.
