Nice pitch lads, enjoyed the vid. I nearly headed up Priestlaw last week but couldn't get parked reservoir side - so Spartleton Hill it was and that was a nice bit of footage from Kev of up there. Your drone footage of the drain hole in the reservoir was awesome Robin! (pretty trippy but amazing lol). TFS and making the search a bit easier with regards to the title ;)
Nice wee video Robin, cracking pitch and weather. Thumbs up for the durability of Lowe Alpine packs, I've had my 35 litre sack for about 20 years and it doesn't look any different to when I bought it 👍.
Different class robin, drone shots were superb. Nice to see cotswold send you some stuff for review, best person for a review is someone that gets out and uses it, not somebody just trying to sell it. Nice to see kev and his carrier bag. ATB. Rich
@@WalkWithWallace cheers for reply! Yep I’m defo going to get that pack, just looks out of stock everywhere at the moment!! I’ve got the UCO mini, need to stop myself from buying the bigger version!!!
Both companies make great products and I'm personally like the vented Rucksacks and for the RAB I'm very very happy with the ones that I have and fortunately Christmas is on the Horizon and that's where all of my RAB clothing has come from.
Nice little review Robin , pack and top look decent . A decent camp too with the weather playing ball , hoping I can get before the year ends 😂. liked the drone shot of the big drain . atb dave
Cheers Dave, the pack is excellent. I'll only be using it in winter though. The weather was perfect, shame we couldn't get up the Highlands with this level system in place. Hope to see you out soon mate. 👍🏻
A classic pack, had mine a few years, although there are lighter packs out there, I cant find one with as many features as Air Zone Pro and the same degree of comfort too - Nice Vid
Exactly. I was saying to someone else my original Osprey Talon 33 was in a sorry state after 8 years of use and had 2 repairs. The Lowe Alpine will last much longer than that.
Great video Robin. I’ve had the same feeling about walkers at the bottom of the hill and always wonder if they have saw me. I’ve always found that at night they look closer than what they actually are. That location you both camped looked really nice 👍 Never been a fan of walking on the road though. Another good watch. Cheers for sharing👍
@@WalkWithWallace I'm on call from December to March 7 days a week so I'll struggle to get out with the exception of the Christmas break. Hopefully get a trip in around the Christmas break.
That is a good pack Robin. I like the durability of it because I do chuck my packs about. My new Gregory Optic 58 didn't feel that Robust on my last long trek, which I will talk about but this - worth a gander. Nice camp mate - as for the road. I agree always walk into traffic and cross if you can with oncoming vehicles on a bend. But I was on a busy A road (unavoidable) and could not cross because of zero verge and traffic both ways. Best thing to do then - stay absolutely still - don't even blink. Anyway take care buddy. Mark
Thanks Mark, there's a compromise if you want light weight gear as it won't last quite as long. This pack definitely suits winter for the durability. I remember your video and it was a much tighter and busier than my scenario. Hope you're well mate. 👍🏻
@@WalkWithWallace A pleasure Robin. That's right mate - it's a bit tender is the Gregory. Yours looks right on for shorter trips of course as you mention. Yeah, there was traffic coming from both directions on that road and their was no verge on the other side either.
@@WalkWithWallace That's it with light weight packs they're slimming everything down. Feels odd and potentially hazardous. Imagine losing your shoulder strap miles from anywhere.
@@WyeExplorer my friend's shoulder strap came away. I think she was picking it up by the same shoulder strap constantly which didn't help, got to use that handle instead. Got it repaired for her for £20.

@@PAADVENTURES1 don't get me wrong I enjoy using the drone and love the footage, but setting it up during a walk I find a pain, hence why usually you'll only see drone footage from me once I've set up camp. 😎 I do use the phone occasionally, as it does take some nice footage from the rear camera. @@PAADVENTURES1 @Paul Agnew I was exactly the same, started with my old Samsung Galaxy S7 then upgraded to the GoPro Hero 7 Black, mostly for the stabilisation. The only reason I switched to the DJI Osmo Action is its easier to mount external audio and the wee front facing screen is ideal for vlogging. Keep up the good work mate, it's slow to begin with, but you'll get there. I've seen RUclipsrs grow overnight with one video, others like my self a bit more slow and steady. 😂
Hi Robin, another great video. I have a question about your uco lantern, well several. How durable is it given it has real glass? Have you used it inside the tent? If so How safe did it feel and have you noticed it helps reduce condensation in the tent? Cheers
Hi Michael, the lantern feels durable and comes with a nice cloth bag, but must admit that I've never dropped the lantern to find out how durable it is. The glass is pretty thick though. I would only have it burning if the door is open or I'm in the tarp as there's still a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning in an enclosed space. It can help a little with condensation as heat escapes out of the top of the lantern. I bought it more for aesthetic purposes for those long winter nights.
Great review. Does the air zone tech prevent your back from getting soaking wet from sweat when hiking up hill? If not, do you know of any good packs with good ventilation?
The AirZone does do a good job of keeping your back cool and it's similar to Berghaus's Freeflow system. No rucksack alone will be 100% effective though.
Hi Albert, I haven't seen other Lowe Alpine packs in the flesh, but you've got the Aeon 27 or the AirZone Trail 25 or the AirZone Z 20. If you like Osprey then Talon 22 is cracking pack.
Hi Robin - so my pack arrived and I've just had an interesting comment on facebook saying that above 8kg the pack is really uncomfortable. I'm taking that with a pinch of salt and thinking its a badly adjusted pack but wondered what your thoughts on this is? What sort of weight did you carry in this video and how far did you walk?
Hi Mark, I don't agree with 8kg at all. The rucksack manages the contents much better than my Osprey Levity 45 and that's meant to hold weight of around 10kg. My base weight not including food and water is around 6.5-7kg, so I estimate I was carrying 8.5-9kg all in not including the rucksack. Not huge walks though due to staying local with lockdown restrictions. *Edit* my base weight includes the weight of the Levity pack, so deduct 860g from my base weight figure.
@@WalkWithWallace Sounds more like it. I've wild camped 3 times now and my osprey stratos 36 has weighed about 12kg in total (I'm looking to carry less) but feel the Lowe Alpine will swallow it all much easier than the 36 pack. Thanks
@@summitupmark5615 I reckon you'll be fine with the Lowe Alpine. Like you said in your original comment, it sounded like an ill fitted pack. Took me a few attempts to get everything fitted nicely to my back.
