I love how masterfully Danny Boyle makes you feel hopeless with the story, atmosphere, and your investment in the characters. My dad and I reserve two times in a year to watch 28 Days Later. Each time afterwards, I cant stop thinking about it for at least another two weeks. At least.

Everyone comes back for that one epic song at the end. They forget the chills they felt with this one. I don’t know what this movie was like for the rest of you but when I watched this, it was the FIRST zombie movie I had seen where the zombies could RUN. It was a new concept to me. It was scary.

The thing that makes the infection in this movie more terrifying is not only that you turn to a infected in seconds but also that the infected can literally run faster than you, they have so much rage that they just dont even feel like slowing down, they just want to get to you instantly. Same when they are on fire, they will keep going for you They never stop

The fact that the infection wiped out the entire country within practically one month and the fact that it could infect so quickly made it so damn terrifying.
I don't think people realise how close this is to reality. Society is so fragile and can (and will) collapse, probably sometime over the next 10 - 50 years. Danny Boyle even said the film is a warning to humanity. Rather than infection, It will probably be a mixture of climate change, war, poverty and maybe even an incurable widespread illness.

And I'm not joking there will be some lab in the world doing some weird stuff with the rabies virus I'm honestly not messing around they do it to all viruses and diseases to try better understand that and also for warfare purposes.

It' the 28th of March, i live in Scotland and in a town populated of around 43,000 and usually the streets are generally filled. Not now, they're empty and barren. The feeling when walking is eerie and off. I genuinely feel like an apocalypse is bound to happen....only time will tell
I could imagine a game trailer with this playing with someone looking around an abandoned city, then towards 1:58, gathering supplies and ejecting a shotgun shell at 1:58, with a horde in the back. The solitary, damned, brutal feeling of the opening scene of 28 days later really hits that horror aspect.
i remember hearing this used in those old stickman pivot animations where they fought and all that. however years later i found out this was where it was from. absolute masterpiece!
