I wanted to have my short film style video complete but it’s taking a while longer - but I was excited to share some news with you and I also wanted to know if any of you have a tendency towards self-doubt and lack of trust in yourself sometimes ❤ it’s something I really need to work on! Will chat more in next weeks video, sending warm wishes ❤

Oh Paola...I'm 66 and I still have self-doubt, in all aspects of my life. This is something that many of us need to work on! I think it is important to learn to trust self, and it is not easy. The thing is that we often get confirmation that we are 'on the right track', and yet we still question ourselves. In a way, that is a good thing though because we don't become over confident (if you know what I mean). However, listening to our own intuition about things and learning to trust this part of ourselves is a good thing. Congratulations Paola and Luke...I had a feeling you would be having a boy! May you all be blessed in this new chapter of your lives! Hugs from Canada!

I had many of those same feelings when I was your age. Today is my 73rd birthday, and last night, before I went to sleep, I reflected on my personal growth, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. The saying “Wisdom comes with age,” can be altered to include that confidence grows with choices. If you journal, you can document your growth by writing down choices you make, however small, and how the making of those choices turn out. Be your own advocate, Paola. You seem to me to be a gentle soul… extend that gentleness to yourself.

I’m the mom of grown kids now, and if I have any advice for you in your pursuit of confidence, I simply say this… when faced with uncertainty over a choice, get quiet, go inward, journal your questions and thoughts, and most importantly give yourself the time to listen to your gut instincts. Research is good, as is advice from people in our corner… it can all help us think, but ultimately you must captain your own ship if you want true happiness. Also, it may surprise you to discover that, yes, you DO have mothering instincts… even when you’re brand new to motherhood. You are exactly what your baby boy needs. And what a lucky baby. ❤️

I so agree with you, boys surely do love their mothers in such a special way. I had a daughter and a son and each love in a different way but there is something about boys. I think mothers and daughters clash a lot more than mothers and son and that may be a part of it. My son is now 36 and still gives me the biggest bear hugs and tells me love me almost every time we talk.

Hi Paola, I`m also a quiet person who was always struggling with making choices. But when I had a baby girl two years ago I had to make choices every day. When my husband was at work and my baby was crying and couldn`t tell me what her problem was I had to make so many little choices the whole day long to make her comfortable. The first time I was really afraid of doing something wrong or making wrong decisions. But then I learned that my baby loves me unconditionally, it doesn`t matter what I do. Because I`m with her and I try everything to make her feel good. That gave me so much confidence.
I hope you`ll feel the same! I`m so happy for you and wish you and your family all the best❤

When you spoke about working this year on yourself becoming more confident to make decisions and good choices, the first thing that came to my mind is that motherhood gave me the perfect opportunity to do just that. I had to for the baby’s sake, and our marriage and new family. I became so much more confident when I became a mom. I learned as much as I could before the baby was born, applied much of that new information, and even more important, I followed my instincts. I felt confident and was very happy, not nervous . You will too and you will be a wonderful mother.

Ooooh, how exciting to know you're carrying a boy!! It's going to be so cute when he'll experience his own little adventures together with you in nature!
Unfortunately I've experienced self-doubt throughout my life as well and still do at times - I'm turning 50 this summer.
For me, a lot of it stems from the feeling of not being good enough, which has been ingrained into me from early childhood on by my parents. When other parents told their kids "It's alright, at least you tried." Mine would say "It's never enough to just try if you fail to actually do it." Yeah, it's pretty hard to let that go and connect with the strength within oneself then.
But I'm getting better at it, tackling one day at a time.

As a [good] parent you’re always going to wonder and question if you’ve done right by your kiddo, but the mere act of being concerned proves you’re doing your best ✨ And as my Nonnie told my Mom, ‘listen to people’s opinions… but then do what YOU think is best.’ 💫😉

I used to feel the same way regarding knowing what I want. My parents were overprotective and always told me what to do. When I started living my own life and then for several years, I based myself on other people's opinions and adopted them. That wasn't good. It caused me a lot of problems. At some point I started to put a hand on my stomach and heart and feel what my heart was telling me and what I wanted deep down inside. The more often I did that, the better I became at making decisions. Today I can sense very quickly what I want. Warm greetings from Germany. 😊

I could not make my own decisions for fear of making the wrong ones. Having parents and teachers who did not have my best interests at heart but had an agenda their own that I was meant to serve made it incredibly difficult to trust myself. I have found that decision making is like a muscle: it gets easier the more I do it. You've got this! There are no wrong decisions but sometimes just an interesting albeit different path that one finds oneself on. Best of luck and congratulations!

I haven't had a chance to comment since your video that included your short story, and I was so overwhelmed with emotion over it, that I needed some time. I enjoyed that so much. My husband and I recently adopted a dog from the county services. She is all I ever dreamed of, and she reminds me of a fox. She is so beautiful. Anyhow, your story touched so deeply in my soul. I was at lunch at work, and was needed by my co-workers briefly while watching it, and they caught me bawling. I had to clean up my face rather quickly and tell them it was all okay, that I was just enjoying your story. 😂 One who is not sensitive would never understand those feelings. But, they did. Thank you again.❤

Aww, I understand this, Paola! I am 50, but I still think and feel much like a child. I'm grateful to have this ability, as many people tend to not find value in it, but it is hard to find that self love when others don't seem to appreciate or take the time to understand it. I'm learning to figure this out. I suppose it's never too late now, is it? It is scary to pursue the things we love, at least for me! Unfortunately, lacking that confidence has stifled my own creativity. Watching your videos has allowed me to appreciate all the things I love and have missed so much about myself! Congratulations, dear Paola! Your son better like Peter Rabbit 🐇..lol! I'm certain he will be introduced to him!

Congratulations! It is such a wonderful blessing to be a boy-mama, and being a mom really helped me gain confidence. Initially, I was very unsure and overwhelmed because of my perfectionistic tendencies, and conflicting (although well-meaning) advice from others didn't help. What I found was I needed to (and could) trust my own intuition and instincts to know what was best for my baby, family, and myself. While I politely listened to others, I also filtered through and discarded what didn't feel "right".

Confidence in your choices comes with experience and age. We learn to trust our gut, our inner voice, our own minds, to quiet the other voices with their "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" and know what we need to do for ourselves. You are doing that, growing more comfortable and confident. We can see it. It will be a great topic to explore in your next video.❤

I can definitely understand that "difficulty in making decisions" aspect. I used to be TERRIBLE at it to where I was in a freeze with anything for a couple years. It's definitely a practice. Honestly, having my daughter has taught me a lot in just 1 year alone; and that's one aspect I've grown in for sure. I don't doubt you'll notice change as this new season approaches. Just be patient and know you're always learning too. ❤

I have 11 children and my new babe was born a few weeks ago. All of my children wanted a boy but I was certain it was a girl because of the ultrasounds. I had to have 6 ultrasounds because I needed a C-section and every time I thought ‘girl’. So when the doctor held up the baby I was SO amazed that I did in fact have a precious boy! I now have 6 daughters and 5 sons and my children are my greatest joy. Congratulations to you and Luke (Luke is also my new baby’s name) ❤

I have struggled with self doubt also. 2 things that have helped me move forward and gain more confidence. 1. I tested as an INFJ on the Meyers-Briggs personality scale. Then I dove into research about my type and found support for my specifics including the idea that INFJs regularly have very solid gut instincts that they can’t explain but are often right. 2. I read “The Way of Integrity” by Martha Beck. She explores finding and living a life that is true to you, using the story of Dante’s Inferno.

When I was a young mother I lacked confidence in my ability and doubted my decisions. I was constantly given *advice* that was unsolicited, and I seldom followed it. We raised our 3 boys how it felt right to us, yet I still doubted myself (asking myself if I should be following someone else’s advice) Fast forward many years, and our oldest is 29 and our twins are 27. I feel blessed beyond words. I talk with them almost daily although they now have their own lives, their own families. They tell me I am their best friend and that they appreciate how we raised them, that I was the perfect mother for them. My point in saying this? Trust yourself, acknowledge self-doubt, then let it go, and be there for and love your child, and everything will work out. Congratulations, boys are so much fun, and your life will be full of so many wonderful adventures!

Congratulations! I’ve got three sons - all adults now. The best advice I have, regarding mothering, is *listen*. We might not always be able to come up with answers that make sense for someone else - including our own children. If we will simply listen, and allow them to “talk it out”, they’ll arrive at their own best answers, as they go through life. Other than eating more than a human should be capable of, boys are easy, in my experience. You’re already in love with your son, so just be around and keep loving him. He will find his way. Don’t stress out over stuff that doesn’t matter, such as which school he goes to - or maybe you will decide that homeschool is a great option for your family, as it was for my own. When the children are little, and your life circumstances let it be so, let them behave as children. Play is important. Some children grow up in surroundings where they are fearful, or they’re expected to do their fair share of the work of staying alive, for example, and are not able to ever really just be kids. I’ve seen both sides of that particular coin. There are advantages to both, in my opinion, but a life lived without play or imagination being something that is accepted and encouraged is less than ideal, I believe. As for trusting yourself - your soul knows the way to go. When the decision to be made holds severe consequences if your choice isn’t the best, then sure - seek the advice of your elders or anyone else whose opinion you value. When the choices to be made matter only on a small scale, that you can easily recover from if you goof up, then go with your gut. Once you begin to see the positive results of trusting yourself more, then up the ante on some of your choices and make bigger decisions. One thing to keep in mind, is that once you feel ready to make a decision, be bold about it, knowing that you could be wrong and own it. It’s almost always OK to be wrong about stuff - I do that often - and so far, I’m pretty sure that nobody has died because of a decision I’ve made. There is precious little in this existence that is truly a matter of life and death. Be smart. Don’t put yourself into debt if you can help it and get out of debt as soon as you can, if you’re in it. Don’t poison anyone. You know, the basic stuff. It’ll all be OK. Oh - chilly weather, pointed table corners, stuff that is extra sharp if it gets broken… stuff like that… be aware of the surroundings and environment for your son, but there isn’t a need to be hyper-paranoid about all of the “what ifs” that are perceived hazards. For example, when I was young enough to need one, car seats for babies in automobiles did not exist yet. The same was true when my baby brother was born. He rode up the (mostly unpaved at the time) Alcan Highway from Fort Worth, Texas to Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, in a cardboard box between my parents’ bucket seats in a Chevy Blazer. The year was 1973. We survived. All will be well. Remember. Your soul knows. Trust it. Cheers, Monica 😊

Oh sweet Paola, you my dear are such a breath of fresh air. You’re calmness, kindness and creativity are a sign of self confidence from the outside looking in. The choices you make will mold you into who you are meant to be. Will they always be the correct choices? Maybe not, but you will learn and grow from every single decision/ choice you make. To become the best version of ourselves is a continuous work every single day. We all struggle with something, it’s whether we address it or not that matters. You are a strong and beautiful soul. Once you can recognize the voice of your higher self within you can just rely on her when you have a question and eventually you won’t be able to tell the difference it will just come automatically. And yes sometimes we need to mediate and do things to get back in touch when we feel a little off but she’s always there waiting to help all you have to do is ask. Get well pretty girl💖🙏🤍✨

I'm finding more and more in my life's experiences that changes happen most authentically and beautifully when we notice the way we are and bring our loving attention to that noticing. I have also grappled with lack of self trust and just reminding myself and bringing my attention and awareness to that noticing of lack of self trust is the beginning of the magic of being human.

As an older Mom...("advanced maternal age...lol..if I never heard that term again from my OB/GYN..it would have been too soon!!) I got so much advice...SO MUCH!! And as appreciative as I was..I really only felt truly comfortable when I listened to my own heart. Of course I took the advice when it came to baby illnesses, etc....but I did my own research as well. The best advice I ever got was during my baby shower when a friend of my parents who was 90 at the time..said this: "Treat Motherhood like instructions on an airplane. Put the mask on yourself first so you can help the person next to you. If you don't, you'll all die!" LOL!! She meant that you need to make sure you're ok. Even if that means taking time for yourself, getting away for a few hours, etc. She raised 5 kids who became successful adults! My own Sons who are now 19 & 18 are amazing..and time truly does fly!! But I always remembered her words and never forgot myself in Motherhood. Congratulations on finding out you're having a Boy!! I loved raising mine..and still do!! xo
