just picked up the helmet for 99.00 today back Friday days till monday..can't beat that ..can't wait to try it out...Peace
man, I've gone through so many hoods over the years.. I've gotten to the point where I just dropped 350 on a speedglas. If you weld twice a year, the HF stuff is ok, but if you do anything semi often and need to rely on it,.. just buy the good stuff. buy once cry once.
I welded with that $40 one weekly for 3 years. Hopefully the $150 last as long.
Get you a Huntsman P711 (my favorite all time) the rarest, the best hood ever known to mankind. Did you know that when Elon Musk flew is 1st Tesla Roadster up in space, he also brought the Huntsman P711 helmet to use in space,, idk if that's true ot not but..
@@Rushquik555 Neil Armstrong wore the P711 on the moon - and Lance Armstrong wore it in his Tour De France victories. Heckuva helmet. (true story)
I love the volcan one, I'm a professional welder and it's my go to because of how good the view is
10 months ago i bought the Lincoln Viking 3350 welding helmet. I spend $450 because i was expecting it would last at least 3yrs. But guess not it just last me 10 months i was so disappointed spending that much money. So i just went and buy me a $80 welding helmet at NorthernTool. I wont spend over $200 for a helmet ever again
Thanks for showing the side-by-side videos. That was very helpful.
I have had my HF welding hood for years, just remember to turn it off to the grinding mode when you are done welding, your batteries will last longer. It should turn off on it's own but most don't.
So doing this will make the battery last longer..even if it does turn off?
Grinding mode=0?
Side nob?
DUDE! I just bought that same hood two weeks ago. (The blue flames) What an amazing improvement over my old hood! The old hood was about 10-12myears old and was WELL used! Burned a lot of wire & filler with that thing! It was purchased at a welding shop and was 3 or 4 times what I paid for the blue flame hood. It got so damn dark I could barely see and my welds were suffering. I think the flash hoods have a life span and that's just IT. Use them like we do and we end up wearing them out. The Blue Flame works flipping awesome! I can actually seeeeee what I am doing! I do not use my welding hood for grinding either, extra wear and tear it doesn't need. You should get a new Blue flame and compare the two new hoods and do a follow up vid. You haven't bought new gloves because those do not have holes yet LMAO
If you liked the $50 one, the $150 will blow your mind, lol.
Just an FYI that I found on a Harbor Freight welding helmet. I luv HF and their tools. Helps an old man keep his shop stocked! Bought a HF welding helmet that I could not use because it was too dark. Had it too long to return, but talked to the Manager anyway. He had the same problem. Said someone told him to look for any 'protective' film left on the lenses. I did and there was a green plastic protective lens covering on the 'inside' of the outside lens. You have to take the lens completely out and peel it off. Have not had time to see if it makes a difference, but who knows?? ;)
I don’t have any issues, I can see great, but I did take the protective film of the outer lense
I work in Manufacturing as a MIG welder. The Vulcan helmet is the best bang for your buck you can get. Esab Savage is just as good for around 150.
A smaller viewer window is gonna let in less UV light and actually protect the eyes better
Just F.Y.I. you can replace the lense on the chep one. There's a reason they sell replacement sets. They're meant to be changed out ever so often as the plastic protective lense loses clarity.
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
My blue flame helmet finally but the dust. This review has perfect timing.
I used the vulcan helment for 3 years even when i worked at GE aviation and eavry one had them fancy expensive helments , but i did change for the lincoln viking 3350 i think its the best helment there is , its 300 buks but the largest viweing area and its blue tint , but for 140 the vulcan is a realy good helment for the price, i still work with it at home.
Nice, good to hear 👍🏻
The best bang for the buck hood youll ever get is a fibre metal sugar scoop and toss an arcone s240 lens in it. I have a speedglas 9100xxi that work bought for me its really nice but heavy on the neck after 8hrs. I use the sugar scoop 99% of the time, chopped a bit off the bottom so it doesnt slam into my collar bone and riveted a bit of leather on it to keep those wonderful 6010 splatters from burning my beard and going down my shirt when doing overhead.
when its new it work great, you cant compare the new stuff to the old 3y stuff, wait until that vulcan is 3y and see how the battery hold up and if you can change the batteries, because some of them you cant.
i love my fixed lens from HF!! but my auto Lincoln Electric helps as well. for longer welds i like the fixed #10
first hood is scratched bad... they make protective covers for them... buff out the scratches and install protective cover. now with that said yea, the tech does get better over the years.
Ooh man so classy! I might have to look into upgrading mine 🤔
I have the even older version of the cheap auto dark hf. I keep it as a spare but half the time it doesn’t darken and blinds me. Can’t see a way to change battery. Looks like yours could use new plastics! The Vulcan looks alright, I ended up buying a yeswelder helmet and I love it, so clear and it’s not all green
Nice 👍🏻
Thanks - I'll check it out!
Deja blue because everything about it feels like it's been done before
I have that first helmet you showed without the flames and you’re right... it’s super reliable but it’s almost like holding your hand over half of one eye. I have to tilt more towards my dominant eye. Haha, been looking at that Vulcan and probably gonna go with it. Thanks for the video.
Yea, it works, but there are better options out there for sure.
Thank you
I have also seen some reviews on those two welding lids but I seen some of the other welders recommend the panoramic welding visor apparently it gives you a better view when you weld can you deliberate on that
I bought a $360 Lincoln mask never liked back !
For 2 years I thought I was a shitty welder. Turns out I just couldn’t see. A cheap helmet will ruin a job.
I'm always scared of these helmets going off during welding and I'm new very new never welded before but my dad just got me a 140 titanium multiprocess welder can't wait to use it 😊
If you set the sensitivity up correctly, as the instructions show, I have never had one not work or fail to turn on.
Wear safety glasses UNDER, even the clear ones protect from UV.
That newer helmet you are reviewing is almost exactly the lincoln viking 3350
Did you see the video where someone compared the two? They’re almost exactly the same. The lenses are even interchangeable. The Chinese probably make both of them in the same factory. I have the Vulcan Commander 225 welder for HF and it’s an exact copy of the Miller Thunderbolt XL. 😆
Thx
Do the cheap helmets have the same amount of protection with the delay as the top dollar ones? Are my eyes getting more flash, or any flash with the chepos?
i bought the cheapest one that isn't the fixed shade and it doesnt work anymore
Mine has plastic lens not glass will it melt from splatter.??or should be glass ??
Can the outer lens be changed?
Yes, there is an outer and on some a inner lens that is replaceable.
If it just window difference, it doesn't matter
Glasses fog? Do they fit ok?
After seeing the comparison. Idk how you lived and welded like that for 3 years
3 years with your gloves are you really weld or just for fun because I change mines at least every three months same gloves and I got the Vulcan arc safe is okay but no really good at all I weld all day and the battery don’t last long the view is good have the panoramaxx 2.5 by optrel before and now I going to change for a sentinel a50 by Esab because the Vulcan is good but not at all will see but for the price is good 😊
Wish they just sold replacements for the left hand glove.
✅
Does this man realized that those lenses can be changed so there was no need to buy a new one
❤❤❤
I don’t recommend that mask at all I get flash burn every time you arc
kjhg
Hell no!! Valcan hoods lol...how does it do out in the field? 170$ for a Vulcan VS $200 Speeglas 9100. No thanks Harbor Hoods! Id stick with Speedglas and look 😎 cool than sporting a Vulcan, looking like a fool!!
Please, tell me where to get the Speedglas 9100 for $200!

Sooo... telling someone they look like a fool is expected to garner your comment some respect? Seems like you're calling yourself that. Learn proper grammar while you're at it. By the way, stop being a hypocritical cheap arse by buying used hoods if you're going to brag. 🤣🤣🤣🙄
Stop worrying about how you look.......
I bought a $360 Lincoln mask never liked back !
