Hey buddy. You can buy a brass double male repair fitting and use small hose clamps to repair that air hose. Sorry, but my heart isn’t as big as yours, I would rid my cabin of those little guys once and for all! Keep up the good work man. Can’t wait to see those big windows installed!
I’ve been watching your videos since your semi professional cabin build 4 years ago. It’s so great to see how much the channel has grown since that time. Well deserved 👏 I’m happy for you and I hope it keeps growing. I’m sure it will.
Sweet solar set-up! A telescope would be a nice cabin warming gift for yourself. I'm sure the views would be epic with no light pollutuon up in them hills yo! Cheers from Toronto
You need to close up those large window openings with a couple of layers of shelter wrap or if you have some scrap plywood use that. Keep your hoses and cords in some containers to protect them from mice and squirrels. The more stuff you leave out the costlier it gets.
Holy Woodness Freezemybutoffness baby!!!!! I am amazed how the mountains have snow already but that is nothing for the crazy Canadian. That door looks amazing brother and you still got things done considering all the road blocks you encountered. It is time to take care of the rodents buddy or you will have troubles every time you come to work. Go get em killer! lol Thanks for bringing us with you on the journey. Keep getting after it.
Those cables that connect your solar panels will make a nice snack for Dukie and the rest of the rodents! I love animals also but have no place for destructive rodents!
We shall mark this day on the Calendar's of Time as Roof Completion Day!! Wooo Hoooo. Congrats. 2 things, bring hose splices and clamps next trip up, and bring a metal box to store the charging cables and extension cords in . Oh and put on the wishlist the heated gloves, socks and coat :-D
Good morning Graham! The siding and door looks really nice on your cabin. Everything is falling into place. I hope that you'll be able to get the windows in soon. Oh yeah, pets are nice but not one's that destroy your property 😂😮😉 Hope you get to feeling better soon. 🙏
Get a metal gang box with no openings, so you can keep all items in it when not at cabin. It would provide security and could be good solution against critter damage
Hi Graham put in a glass 🫙 jar some shallow onion and honey 🍯 and after 2 days drink a spoons 🥄 its may not be the greater taste, but that cuff is going to be gone. Believe me. ❤ i really admire you man.
Be careful with fire during wind. In 2016 the Mt. Pleasant fire burned 11,229 acres before it was contained. If you don't eradicate the rodents now, once the cabin is closed in they will chew through the walls to gain entrance. Any inside food smells will invite bears inside also. they will use the windows or doors to get in. I have bars over my windows. Get some trail cameras & put them around to see what visitors you have while away, you might be surprised of the activity while gone.
Game camera to see if Duke is as committed to you as you are to her. 🤷🏻♀️, otherwise time to evict. The door turned out really nice. Love the solar array.
Always great to see progress on the cabin! I am curious as to why you just don't cover the front windows with tyvek or bring some plastic to cover them until you can get the windows in?!
Graeme, 1stly if you called it a toque in Australia people would think you’ve been smoking something 😂we call it a beanie, 2nd glad you went to the gp (take it from me, don’t forget your puffer), the door stain looks schmicko 👌 & finally board up the openings until you can get the windows in to keep the critters & weather out. cheers mate, stay epic 🫶🏻 Shell 🇦🇺
I have a strange love for rodents too. I had around 6 or 7 hamsters. They all met their untimely demise to my pet poodle. I also had 4 ferrets. 1 of which developed a huge tumor too. We put him down in a more "humane" way though. Word of advice. Get a "gang" box for your equipment. Helps keep duke and his homies from screwing up your stuff. Especially if you plan to build more cabins.
My brother and I had many hamsters in our youth. We had many sets of babies and it's amazing how many are born with defects. I'm 56 years old and still think about getting another. I'd really like a capybara.
Like the dark colour of the door. Solar panels will come in handy. As for the cables some split conduit and spray with some type of ammonia spray that tends to deter critters from chewing them.
Hi Graham, Cabin door looks GREAT 👍. I voted for the lighter color stain, but this looks better❤ If you want your wife and children to visit the cabin with you, GET RID OF THE VARMENTS!!!!! And a good start would be to get it dried in🎉🎉🎉🎉 Love your videos Graham❤❤❤ Feel better soon😊😊😊😊
How about some steel conduit to run your vulnerable wires through? A handy tip for temporarily plugging holes on lines and hoses? A simple squishy ear plug and a hose clamp! Works like a charm!
Oh Graham, I love watching your channel pal but as a former painter, that splotchy door is going to haunt me now.. Wood conditioner is key before staining interior wood trim and doors to make the color even. Its got me curious as to how you plan on finishing the trim on your doors and windows, I would now recommend painting the interior trim. If you stain them it may clash with the door now. Trim will be way more splotchy without conditioner unfortunately. Glad to see you continuing to get after it pal, keep up the good work!
That door looks great! 👊🏻 It will pop when the siding gets painted darker. That solar tracker looks cool. We have a roof array for our house but that would be a cool add especially for the winter months production.
Looking good friend!! Wasn't sure I was into the darker Danish oil but have to say it looks sweet!! Also glad you got that little bit of roof work done completely. Glad you don't have to get back up there again. We are about ready to call it for the winter. Hoping to finish the mini split next week and maybe get the solar finished as well. ❤
Hey graham don’t rush you will get it finished it just close in your cabin get a small wood stove, give yourself time to clean up your work space plywood the big windows until you are ready for them, it will keep the animals out
I would build a metal storage box or shed and seal it well to contain my tools and cords/wires. Supposedly spreading moth balls or other strong smelling substance (peppermint oil, Pine=sol, etc) might discourage them fom coming around.
Love the door. I hope you can get the critter situation under control. I too have a soft spot for cute rodents, scared of them a little but that’s how I roll 🤷♀️
Did the solar panel mount require to be exact (noticed the N,S,E,W designations)? I noticed it was off center/misaligned on the wooden "platform" but was that bc it needed to be on a true direction. I figured it had to be intentionally off center from the base, based on your attention to detail with the rest of this build. Love it and look forward to what you come up with for the window transport 🤘🏻
Yes good eye! I rotated it ever so slightly to be more south facing then the screws would all be on wood instead of in the other screws if that makes sense.
A gutter shop can probably bend you up some nice metal black gutters, way better than the plastic, also I see USA Home Depot has aluminum available because it doesn't suck like the Canadian one does. And this is your weekly reminder to buy a drill tether.
Mice have a very strong sense of smell and are often repelled by very strong odors like cinnamon, vinegar, dryer sheets, clove oil, peppermint, tea bags, and cayenne pepper. I decided to try diluting peppermint oil in a spray bottle and misting it around my feed room and tack room. I was honestly shocked at how well it worked at keeping mice away. I went from occasionally finding mice droppings to none within 48 hours.
You are a better man than me, I would have put some duct tape on the hole and tried to install siding. You might be able to patch the hole, or cut the hose, put fittings on it and have 2 shorter hoses.
Klasse, die Wasserpumpenzange(der Franzose, wie er bei uns heißt) erspart den Mechaniker. Door looks good, but add a second coat and then poly only after 3 days of drying. If you ever get a warm front...lol Glad to see you not stopping. Remember thank the good Lord for all He has done for you. Enjoy your opportunity. Blessings!
I know you mentioned it, but I would humbly recommend plugging those two giant holes in the front. Looks as though some other commenters concur. You may encounter some uninvited guests the next time you venture into your cabin if not
Maybe try some Macho Man Randy Savage impressions, it's kryptonite to rodents 😆 and it would be great content if recorded. I was leaning towards the lighter stain but that dark one looks really good on the door.
Yep i had to run some outdoor cables through some thick conduit for outdoor use, to stop rodents chewing some 12v cables as well. You are not the only one to suffer that. But it sucks that it was your bluetti cable.
Maybe it's the ghost of Felix The Rat coming back to haunt you, chewing up your air hose as a way of revenge for giving him that maffia style tail pipe death 😂 Remember to put some finish on the underside of your door, Graeme.
Graham how are you going to earn your wilderness survival badge without an allen key being on your person at all times lol. I'm so looking forward to your windows going in, hoping its next episode!!
Do you call the mountain over yonder Mount Doom? Do you think you and the saplings will ever have to hike to Mount Doom to destroy the Ring of Power? Looks like the Rodents are building their own Solar set up. Is Duke doing some Reno work in her den? I will never doubt your ability to do a job twice, I mean to do a job right! Love you!
You have 2 large openings in your cabin. I don’t know how you can accuse any animal species. It could be several things (weasel, canine, feline families) just to name a few. Close it up. You’re doing great. If you can’t close it in build a small temporary closet in a corner. Store your electronics and other items that a weather sensitive. You’re doing great these are just suggestions. Keep on Truckin!😎🇺🇸
The door color is awesome
Build some wooden storage boxes an protect stuff. Yea I know some eat thru wood but it would take awhile.
Zip tape that air hose and board up the big openings.
Hey buddy. You can buy a brass double male repair fitting and use small hose clamps to repair that air hose. Sorry, but my heart isn’t as big as yours, I would rid my cabin of those little guys once and for all! Keep up the good work man. Can’t wait to see those big windows installed!
Or flashing tape wrapped around as a quick patch?
I’ve been watching your videos since your semi professional cabin build 4 years ago. It’s so great to see how much the channel has grown since that time. Well deserved 👏 I’m happy for you and I hope it keeps growing. I’m sure it will.
Barbara ONeil. A logical resolution to feeling better.
Hey Good video once again....my stress level will go down when you get the front windows in... hopefully before winter..👍👍😎
1. The solar array is exactly what I need.
2. The colour of the door is fantastic!!
Sweet solar set-up! A telescope would be a nice cabin warming gift for yourself. I'm sure the views would be epic with no light pollutuon up in them hills yo! Cheers from Toronto
That was some good of improvising a work plan for the day.

how about trying to cover the hole in your hose with some tape to stop the air from leaking out try this until you can replace it
Need an update on bluey! Door looks fantastic
Door looks amazing. Also, the first part of the intro and music was really cool!
Those cables that connect your solar panels will make a nice snack for Dukie and the rest of the rodents! I love animals also but have no place for destructive rodents!
Mr Goodness, of all the RUclips channels I follow
You have the best intro music!
Thanks
Normally I skip
But yours I don’t!!

My husband and I love watching your videos! Thanks for the comedic relief, BRING IT ON 🤣
Week by week brother, you're getting there. Keep it up, you're my Saturday morning pep talk.
Get a metal gang box with no openings, so you can keep all items in it when not at cabin. It would provide security and could be good solution against critter damage

You're going to have a very nice cabin when finished.
This episode reminds me of something my wife always asked. “Are you starting another project before closing up the cabin?” 😂😂😂
You’re so close!
Haha died at the use of the Dodge Caravan tail pipe! 😂. Heart was in the right place!
Rodent lover means over the top mouse proofing the cabin and probably some catch and release traps.
The intro will keep you warm bro ❤

One wall left, then you're dried in 💪
Great work, Graham! Even with a chewed air line. That fire could be a relaxation video just watching it burn! 🔥
Love your channel, hope you feel better soon
The stained door looks now like a church door, see the huge cross in the upper half 😮
Always great to see progress on the cabin! I am curious as to why you just don't cover the front windows with tyvek or bring some plastic to cover them until you can get the windows in?!
Good question! I think so I am forced to slap em in!
Loved ❤ the rodent stories! You, my friend are tender hearted, which can be a blessing and a curse. ❤❤
Place looks great!

Cool solar setup! And the door looks great.
Thanks man, gotta get the last windows up!

Ohhhh the BIG Hampster! That’s awesome would be sweet!
Gday from aus 💜🦘
Love the door stain!
Definitely wasn't Duke she's an angel and would never get upto such shenanigans 😂
He who chops his own wood is twice warmed!😅
Like the dark colour of the door. Solar panels will come in handy. As for the cables some split conduit and spray with some type of ammonia spray that tends to deter critters from chewing them.
Great episode - keep getting after it! 😤
You need to cover up all the Windows etc with plastic before the snow comes! And it Will stop the rodens 😂
great job on the cabin.
Rodents - anywhere but in the house. You have to draw a line....
Looking great!!! Love the door. Yes, run the cables for the solar array in some kind of protective conduit from rodents.
Door looks good

You truly have the best intro!!! 😊
that was a sick music transition from the beginning music to your normal intro!
Duct tape the heck out of that air line!
Duct Tape is the Miracle Worker!
Maybe cover the door with house wrap until you get the finish on?
I like the door color!
I would build a metal storage box or shed and seal it well to contain my tools and cords/wires. Supposedly spreading moth balls or other strong smelling substance (peppermint oil, Pine=sol, etc) might discourage them fom coming around.
We did our condo on the lake with dark doors like that; some think it is Mahogany...nope. Pine with dark stain.
That tailpipe story was to much haha. That door looks spot on. Nice work.
Love the door. I hope you can get the critter situation under control. I too have a soft spot for cute rodents, scared of them a little but that’s how I roll 🤷♀️
Graham it's time for the windows 😂 good to see the bad stuff not getting to you! Greetings from the Netherlands!
They make slice connectors to repair that hose, cut it, and fix like pix connection.
Love the door❤
Get those windows put in!😂

Yea I’ve been using peppermint oil but maybe not enough!
Snow in Virginia but none here in Connecticut. Yikes.
Don't forget to stain the edge of the door that has the hinges.
You are a better man than me, I would have put some duct tape on the hole and tried to install siding. You might be able to patch the hole, or cut the hose, put fittings on it and have 2 shorter hoses.
Any self respecting Canadian would have had Duct Tape on hand.... just ask Red Green! But at least you remembered the toque. 🙂. Another great video.
You’re right. Red Green would be disappointed
Vapour barrier over the big windows to keep out the weather.

We call those knit hats toboggan or beanie in my area. Everywhere else I've gone I was told a toboggan was a sled but I grew up calling them a sleigh.
We called them boggans
😅🤣😅never heard of that!
Glad you got an inhaler, step two will be to put that and a roll of flex tape or self sealing silicone tape in your pocket.
Door looks good, but add a second coat and then poly only after 3 days of drying.

Yeah you're right I’m procrastinating on those. Hopefully I get to them soon
Get a big locker you can put your stuff in at night.
Where is the woodstove?
Need to save some money!
Maybe try some Macho Man Randy Savage impressions, it's kryptonite to rodents 😆 and it would be great content if recorded. I was leaning towards the lighter stain but that dark one looks really good on the door.

LOVE how the door stain came out. Look at that woodgrain baby! 😍
The solar rig didn’t come with an Allen key? Seems like as nice as the unit is they could throw in a 2 cent piece.
Maybe it's the ghost of Felix The Rat coming back to haunt you, chewing up your air hose as a way of revenge for giving him that maffia style tail pipe death 😂

Seriously with the Channel Locks!
Don’t you have a basic socket set?
I have 3!
Btw kind sir...duct tape does marvels for a temp hose fix...just sayin ...happy trails
